Had to call out today due to the idiocy of the customers.

After two days of dumb@$$ customers and a complaint from a customer at my other job because THAT CUSTOMER decided to come in at the last dam minute before closing AND stay 30mins past closing (she said I made her "feel bad"), I decided to call out and use my PTO. These ppl are so inconsiderate, entitled, AND stupid that enough is enough. And the fact that my bosses at BBW don't trust me right now doesn't help. I'm going through with that transfer for that fresh start and therefore abandoned my management aspirations for right now. I'm not leadership material.

It's ridiculous that jobs that support neurodivergent are few and far between and we end up in poor positions. And I will be posting this in the main BBW thread because customers need to hear the result of their abuse.

Signed, an autistic worker.

Update:Had to delete my post on the main BBW group due to rude ppl and their jokes and laughter at NDs. Ppl are just evil. They also accused me of using a slur like I knew what it meant. I didn't know Goomba was a slur and I apologize for it. How do you report a whole group for bullying?

Update 2: To all of you, thank you.

Please read your coupons and rewards carefully.

I know most of you do this already. If so, this isn't for you. This is for those who try to use their rewards on 3-wick candles that are on sale, want to pay the difference, or think they can get multiple items adding up to the limit like it's a gift card. YOU CANNOT DO ANY OF THIS!!! I've had customers two days in a row try to do it, and it's getting tiring explaining it and customers act like I'm speaking a foreign language. Please 👏 read 👏 your 👏 coupons 👏 carefully. It takes 5-10 secs.

Is there a way to explain the Reward up to $18.95 better?

I've had customers two days in a row get confused about the free item up to $18.95 and was ready to snap both times. One tried to use it on a 3-wick candle because they were on sale, and I told her that it had to be a REGULARLY-priced item of $18.95 or lower. The keyholder next to me (the one who blows me off) has explained the same thing, and the woman STILL didn't get it.

Today, I had another one who thought that she could get as many items as possible to add up to $18.95. She was trying to attempt some ridiculously confusing purchase tactic to gain enough points for the 2nd reward (she had one already and was close to another). Again, it was like I was speaking a foreign language.

Is there a way to explain the free item in brainless primate terms to these dumb customers? Because I'm going to lose it if one more person:

1.Asks to pay the difference

2.Tries to use it on a 3-wick candle because it's on sale

3.Grabs up items thinking you can get multiple items adding up to $18.95 like it's a f---ing gift card.

I'm finally going to do it.

I'm going to transfer out of my current location and start anew. I should've done it before, but I was willing to give my soon-to-be-ex-boss a chance to see me develop based on the plan she had for me. Unfortunately, I'm still invisible to her unlike other associates who are getting more hours than me. Why have a development plan for me and you don't pay attention to my efforts? It's all good. I can shine elsewhere. Besides, everyday I work at that location I am reminded of what I didn't get. Add all of that to the rude SLT that I mentioned AND ignorant customers who mispronounce my name, with one who took it a step further and told me to fix my nametag to fit my pronunciation. I was ready to jump across the counter, but I didn't. I stepped to the back for deep breaths.

TLDR:I'm transferring for a fresh start and a new chance to shine with ppl who will pay attention to my efforts.

Update: Unfortunately, that plan fell through because the manager of my desired location doesn't hire ppl with jobs in the same mall.

Customers, please educate yourselves on opening/closing times.

I have had 2 customers come in today at my job 10 mins before closing to pick up online orders AND THEN ask to try them on. Both took until 30 mins past closing. The second person apologized, but the first just thanked us and left. I understand that some of you don't get off work until late, but that's what your days off (or the weekends) are for.

Those who understand that employees (like most of you also are) have lives, this isn't for you.

PSA on the sale this weekend.

To all customers from an associate: only the MEN'S BODY CARE, repeat, ONLY MEN'S is $5.95, and colognes are $35. Please don't come in asking if everything is $5.95, because it's not. MEN'S BC ONLY!

Downvote me if you want, Idc.

Update: Some of your comments got me on the flo'.

What's it like working at Yankee? I'm leaving BBW for them.

I'm getting tired of the entitled customers at BBW AND the pressure with selling, selling, and more selling. I wanted to know if it's easier or harder over at Yankee? I need to get out of BBW...or at least the store I'm in.

It's official: I may end up stuck at BBW.

Old Navy fell through, Rack Room is on pause right now, and there's no point in applying to YC if it's going to be seasonal. The one option right now is transfer.

Just talking up the Rewards Program should be enough, yet the ASM at my location insists on talking up the APP.

Like the last one, the title says it all. Not everyone has or wants the app. Talking up the Rewards should be enough. I've been walking into work and coming out with a headache due to that AND idiot customers.

Considering transferring due to a rude SLT

Exactly as the title suggests. I've recently transferred from a toxic location to one near me...only to find another toxic SLT at this store, too. And this store is the one I started with this company at. Ever since I came back, I've been finding myself on the receiving end of her rude behavior. It's one thing to be blunt, but it's another to be rude. Her blowing me off today when I was trying to say something was the last straw. The more I witness or am targeted by such behavior, the more grateful I am that I got passed over for a promotion. I think it's time for me to transfer to another store because I just have too much history with this team. I need a clean slate because at this point, I'm just dreading going to work now.

I would like to apologize for clmy comments as of late.

Hi, I would like to apologize for my comments with my last post. They were wrong and name-calling is disrespectful. Everyone is free to voice their opinions, and I know better than to attack someone with different ones. So again, I apologize. I still do not like the direction of the company, however.

Update: For those wondering what happened, I posted how I felt about the "consumer obsessed" mindset and how it was getting overwhelming for me as someone who's autistic. Unfortunately, I called a couple of ppl (one of them a moderator in this group) who disagreed with me moles for the CEO and should not have done that and deleted my post. They were just voicing their opinion which simply aligned with the company. I admit that part of the reason FOR the post in the first place was that I'm just tired of circling customers like a vulture, the dumb questions, and just plainly the busy atmosphere of BBW. I'm just exhausted of it all and just impatient waiting on these other jobs to call me back. Still, none of this is an excuse for my behavior.

How do you guys feel about this "consumer first" mindset they're pushing?

Personally, as someone with autism, I'm not all for it. It just means be more pushy with customers...which can hurt instead of help. Seriously, it can force ppl out the door. Selling has been exhausting for me because I have to mask my Aspergers whenever I'm on the floor. I have been praying to be on register every shift ever since the big changes have happened. I've also been looking for other jobs because these customers are getting tiring to deal with.

Update: I didn't think this was going to get the comments it's getting. Dam. I have two jobs already lined up, hoping to get one at Rack Room, and just applied to BBW's competition that I'm not naming.

Making Excuses for a Coworker Friend: Part 2

I returned to my volunteer gig today...only to turn back around and leave. It didn't help that my anxiety was high walking into the building. I had my letter expressing my feelings ready as I checked in and waited for the OK to continue on.

I walked into Cindy's (not her real name) work area and showed her the letter expressing my feelings. At first, she refused to read it and wanted to "put it behind [her]," meaning sweep it under the rug, so I asked if there were other departments and branches I could move to. That was when she grudgingly read it.

After that, she said she had a better understanding of my feelings and where I was coming from....however, she said she "treats everyone like they're the mayor" in case any city officials were to pop in for a visit, which explained why she and her coworker Andy (not his real name) took my small mistake as hard as they had. Mind you that all I wanted to do throw a darned coffee cup in the trash and I didn't know those places behind Andy were off-limits. Yes, I explained my side of that story in that letter, too, and while Cindy had a better understanding of it she still took her coworker's side and even told me as much when I brought that part up. Her reason was because they and Andy worked longer than her, and that she was new. So basically, she said fck my feelings.

Long story short, I'm no longer at that location; life is too short to have your feelings constantly dismissed simply because you're not getting paid. Cindy and Andy should understand that the volunteers are the reason their workloads are lighter and they had better think about that before more volunteers start walking.

Making Excuses for a Coworker Friend

I know I may get downvoted for this and/or misunderstood, but please hear me out. Also, please note that this happened two weeks ago.

I walked into my volunteer gig with an empty coffee cup and attempted to throw it away in a nearby trash can...only to be stopped by the receptionist at the desk who told me I couldn't even go back there to use the trash can. I didn't know that that location was restricted and told him as much, but how he informed of it came off as defensive and rude. I backed off and used another trash can, then reported the guy's behavior to my supervisor. I thought that was the end of it.

Fast forward to today where my supervisor confronts me with an accusation of ME being rude to the guy while it was the other way around. Even when I explained my side, she defended and made excuses for his behavior simply because they were friends and therefore don't know me that well. To add insult to injury, she told me to try to be more friendly and give him the benefit of the doubt while she should've been telling HIM that because I didn't know I wasn't allowed back there. Plus, there was a better way for him to phrase it. He thought my not speaking to him when I sign in was unfriendly. As someone with autism, I'm not always revved up to chat at the a$$crack of dawn, but that doesn't make it rude.

Besides, when I go into work (paying or not), I'm not there to make friends; I'm there to do my job.

Update: Ppl defending and making excuses for this behavior is just as bad as Cindy and Andy.
