Got a firm offer, applied on the last day for application, about a month ago

Finally got a firm offer yesterday, for BSE (i had PCB), I did not get merit scholarship however (i feel like if i applied in round 1-2, i definitely would've got it, but alas, atleast i got in.

Now ill apply for fin-aid, idk what my chances are since my family's income is about 30-ish LPA. So i might not end up going to plaksha (too expensive since we have a huge home loan and lot of dependencies).

Cab service suggestions to and from chennai!!

I'll be in Chennai with my family on 12th July, will stay there until 14th, where at 10am we wanna leave for pondi. Check-in at Pondi hotel is at 2pm so we'll have lunch in Pondi itself. We're 4 people with 3 large suitcases and 2 small (cabin size) bags, and 1-2 shoulder bags (ik it's a lot, but it's needed for a different purpose)

Now i've browsed a couple cab-services,

  1. Red Taxi App - about ₹4k for sedan, and ₹6k+ for SUV (since we have alot of luggage), there was no mention in the app for a roof-carrier, tolls and stuff not included
  2. Pondi Drop Taxi Whatsapp - about ₹3.7k total for SUV with toll charges included
  3. BlaBlaCar - about ₹1.4k for innova but it leaves too early @ 8am in the morning and gets us to pondi by 11am (too early).
  4. Ola/Uber - ₹3.5-4 for a sedan, ₹5-6k for an SUV
  5. Goibibo Cab - ₹3k for a sedan with a roof carrier (worried about the reliability of this)

What else can i try to book? Or which of these is the best one overall?? Should I wait until a day or two before 14th july to book it on BlaBlaCar?

After getting to pondi, we need to go to vellore on the 16th of July, again at about 10am. BUT, we just need to stop in vellore for some work (30-40 minutes max), and also for lunch and some rest, then leave again to go back to chennai airport directly on the same day in the same cab. Drop taxi quoted me about ₹6k+tolls for this whole thing. Need more suggestions for this route, considering cost-efficiency + comfort + reliability.

Thanks!

Whats the best tech-repair shop?

I have a Lenovo Ideapad S340 from 4 years ago. It had over-heating issues and the fans have stopped working. I need to get those fixed and just general maintenance and cleaning maybe. RAM upgrade if possible (and if cheap🙏🏻). I also need new thermal paste.

Now i don't wanna go to a rookie shop with rookie technicians who will themselves google how to do stuff, so please recommend a shop with skilled techs and also decent pricing.

Thanks a lot!

Help a brother out (date ideas)

So im looking for places i can spend time at with my girlfriend. My parents are strict and they don't know about her. Her's aren't so strict and know about me.

Now im going to college in a month, and will leave this city. So I want to spend time with her. We're both 18. Please suggest me places I can go, and most importantly, a hotel/airbnb i could book with no issues. Our budget is 2k max, for one day only.

Now i know some places to hang out with her where it's private enough (no uncs and aunties/kids). Like the Udaan Park on Swaroopsagar or a couple other residential area parks. I also do know more common places like celebration and urban square, old city, fatehsagar paal, etc. But i wanna know which hotels/airbnbs are tried and tested by y'all.

I've seen Brevistay, for hotels for 3 and 6 hours, but they cost 1.5-2k around, which i feel like is kind of expensive for just a couple hours. But nevertheless, they offer the assurance of "Local ID accepted" and "Couple friendly".

Now on Airbnb, i've found a couple homes/stays/hotels which fall within my budget and also have good reviews, but nowhere can i find anything about local ids being accepted and being couple friendly.

I'd like to know two things-

  1. Which hotels/airbnb would be best under our 2k budget for one day (and night) with completely safety and privacy, and local IDs being accepted (we're both 18, and have an udaipur address on our aadhar cards)?

  2. Which date spots in this city are nice and private (without being too hot in this summer heat) where we can hang out with no problems?

First dropper struggling to decide to choose between colleges, please share your opinions

I need help deciding where to dedicate the next 4 years of my life.

MY GOALS-

  1. Settling down abroad before 35 with a stable source of income, studying abroad is fine if aided, unaided/very high fee is probably not possible
  2. Getting financially independent as soon as possible in my life, no matter how much i earn, i just wanna earn for myself
  3. Preferably have a higher ceiling to earn, i.e. higher growth (in terms of income) potential in whatever job/role im in.

MY OPTIONS-

What i have in the bag-

  1. VIT Vellore - BTech CSE Bioinformatics (Category 5, 4.9 LPA fees + 2LPA hostel=7LPA)
  2. Plaksha University - BTech Biological Systems Engineering (havent got the waiver yet, so fee is really high, around 10 LPA, but high chances of getting a waiver maybe around 50% off or 75% off)

What i dont have in the bag YET-

  1. IISERs (any) - IAT score is 105, Gen male, so very borderline (will definetly choose it IF i get in above anything else)
  2. NISER/CEBS - NEST went okay, results on 25th june (will definitely choose it IF i get in, above anything else including IISERs)

What i DONT think i would have in the bag-

  1. Government Medical Colleges through NEET - Had a low score in the 3rd May attempt, low chances of getting a GOOD GMC even in home state, and wouldn't wanna go semi-govt or a very low infra tier 3 city GMC with subpar conditions for 5.5 years.

Other details about me (myquals)-
Gen Male, 18.5 years of age, already taken one drop
85% 10th, 88% 12th PCB, 92th percentile JEE Mains
I AM interested in tech, computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, and i see myself doing research/innovation type work in the future
i also don't have a problem with working corporate 9-5 if that provides me a good work life balance and good pay
i am tech-savvy, interested in coding, but have zero and i mean ZERO experience in coding, don't even know any language like python or C yet (except some HTML)

Questions-

  1. Is Plaksha BSE worth it if for my goals over VIT Vellore CSE Bioinfo (CAT 5)? What would make it worth it? 50% waiver? 75% waiver? 100% waiver?
  2. Is the 'better scope to go abroad' at plaksha an easier choice as opposed to 'high CHANCE of packages' at VIT?
  3. What is harder to excel at, Plaksha BSE or VIT CSE? (excel at = be the top 1%, basically the best possible thing that happened to the whole batch, happens to me)

Please provide your opinions with an open mind, thank you for your attention to this matter!

Plaksha 75% waiver BSE or VIT Vellore CSE Bioinformatics Category 5 (5lpa) or Thapar Biotech (5-6 lpa)

What's the best choice among these? My goal is to go abroad and be financially independent as soon as possible.

I also gave IAT and NEST and im very borderline in IAT (most likely nhi hoga) and NEST idk but very low chances yet again since 50k+ students with 250 seats.

So for my goals, which are moving abroad PERMANENTLY by the age of 30-35 and geting financially independent (preferably before 24), which of these courses are the best?

Im 18 right now, family can afford all of these but obv the less the burden the better, but we can take the burden if that would yield good income later on.

also, i heard BSE at Plaksha had like 6 kids in the last graduating batch? Is that true? What are the most common outcomes of BSE at plaksha? Or placements stats if available.

thanks

12th PCB grad with a gap year, how does my preference order look?

Arranged in order of priority (descending)

  1. NEET - Government MBBS tier 1/2 college (if i get tier 3 im not joining)
  2. IAT - IISER PUNE BS-MS Biological Sciences
  3. IAT - IISER KOLKATA BS-MS Biological Sciences
  4. IAT - IISER MOHALI BS-MS Biological Sciences
  5. NEST - NISER Bhubaneshwar Int. M.Sc.
  6. IAT - IISER BHOPAL BS-MS Biological Sciences
  7. IAT - IISER TVM BS-MS Biological Sciences
  8. IAT - IISER TIRUPATI/BERHAMPUR BS-MS Biological Sciences
  9. VIT - Vellore B.Tech. CSE Bioinformatics cat 5
  10. NEST - UMDAE CEBS MUMBAI Int. M.Sc.
  11. Plaksha University, Mohali - B.Tech. Biological Systems Engineering (higher if i get 50%+ scholarship)

Already got VIT CSE seat and blocked it by paying fee, and refund if i withdraw by end of June.

How is this list?
Should I shuffle up/down any IISERs or NISER/CEBS?
Is VIT Vellore CSE Bioinformatics a good option (I am interested in tech and bio and will pursue research in this field even if i get into IISERs/NISER)

The only difference here is the path (if we ignore MBBS). IISER/NISER leads to a PhD abroad (considering i can be in the top 10-15% of the cohort) and VIT leads to a job and then maybe CAT for IIMs to get a solid package.

My goals:
Interest in my field of AI in biotech and healthcare
Earn shit ton of money asap
Higher ceiling for growth (i define growth as peace and earnings)
Easiest path to move abroad

How's Plaksha? Placements look solid but still need clarification whether it should be above or below VIT?
