Hey everyone,

I have a pretty powerful gaming laptop, and instead of buying a whole gaming desktop, I was wondering if there's something that basically turns it into one.

What I'm imagining is some kind of PC case or shell where I can put my laptop inside so it looks like a gaming PC tower. Then I'd connect everything (monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, etc.) to a USB hub or dock, plug that into my laptop, and use it just like a desktop.

I'm not trying to upgrade the laptop's performance; I just like the desktop aesthetic and having a clean setup.

Does anything like this exist, or has anyone done something similar? I'd also be interested in DIY ideas if there aren't any products made specifically for this.

I’m upgrading my gaming laptop and wanted to make sure I’m making the right choices before I buy anything.

Right now my specs:

• 16GB DDR5 RAM (5600MHz, 1 stick installed, 1 slot free)
• 512GB SSD (about 300GB free)
• Gaming laptop (mainly used for gaming + learning Unreal Engine)

What I want to do:

• Upgrade to 32GB RAM
• Possibly upgrade storage later (SSD)
• Keep everything on a budget (~$40–$70 for RAM if possible)

RAM I’m considering:

• A-Tech 16GB DDR5 5600MHz SO-DIMM (laptop RAM)

My questions:

• Is mixing brands (Samsung + A-Tech) okay for gaming/Unreal Engine?
• Will DDR5-5600 stay stable with mixed RAM sticks?
• Is it worth upgrading SSD now or should I just wait since I still have ~300GB free?
• Any better RAM options in the same price range?

I’m mainly trying to improve performance for Unreal Engine learning and gaming smoothness without spending too much.
