Does investing actually feel slower and less rewarding now or is social media just frying everyone’s expectations?

Feels impossible to look at investing content online now without someone claiming they made six figures trading options from a laptop in Dubai at age 22. Meanwhile most normal people in the UK are quietly putting money into index funds every month and hoping future them appreciates the effort. I know long term investing is objectively sensible, but sometimes it genuinely feels psychologically difficult staying patient while the internet constantly screams about life changing returns. Does anyone else struggle with that mentality?

Does anyone else weirdly miss the absolute misery of Reading once it’s over?

Every year during the festival I reach a point where I’m exhausted, damp, slightly feral and questioning every life decision that led me to sleeping near strangers shouting at 4am. Then about two weeks later I’m already nostalgic for the entire experience. Why does Reading somehow become more enjoyable emotionally AFTER surviving it?

What’s the most intense audience reaction you’ve experienced during a West End performance?

One thing theatre does better than films is that shared atmosphere when an entire audience reacts together at once. Could be a standing ovation, complete silence during a scene, or everyone collectively losing their minds at a song.

Has anyone else noticed people blaming broadband engineers for literally everything?

Feels like the second WiFi slows down for five minutes people act like the engineer personally cut the cables with scissors. I know broadband issues can be frustrating but sometimes the reactions are mad considering most people don’t actually know how the infrastructure works.

Has anyone else noticed clients becoming way more suspicious before you’ve even started the job?

Maybe it’s social media horror stories or bad experiences people have had before, but lately it feels like some customers assume you’re about to rip them off the second you give a quote. Had one bloke ask me three separate times why materials cost what they cost like I was secretly building him a space shuttle. Feels like trust between trades and customers has got noticeably worse the last few years. Anyone else finding this?

I realised recently that the part I enjoy the most is actually the building itself. Once it is finished, I like it for a bit but then the excitement drops compared to the process. Something about opening bags, following steps, and seeing it come together is the best part

I understand the basics of annotating (artist reference, explaining ideas, linking to work), but I’m not sure what separates average annotations from ones that score highly.
