Color decision help for Bane Wolf chem tanks.

So I’ve begun the process of painting two hellhounds for my Krieg army and realized that painting them red like my usual flamethrower storage tanks would be odd. I elected to search online what chemical artillery shells looked like hence the last two pictures and think I’ll hit mine with Mechanicus grey and then a green and yellow stripe.

That being said I’ve not fully decided and would love to hear what others have painted Bane Wolf tanks as or what they would think color wise.

Needs some cleaning up but so far happy with Muh hippogriff.

Kitbashed the Krieger on top using a bit of green stuff to connect the torso and various leftover bits from my other sets. Not completely happy so I’ll need to go back to touch several parts up and add Nuln Oil in other spots.

Paints:

Based in Chaos Black

AK French Blue
Leadbelcher
AK Gun Metal
Warpstone Glow
AK mud brown
AK German Field Gray
AK Black
AK Gold
AK dark rust
AK Tan yellow
Ushbati Bone

Managed to have most of my army painted before the end of 10th

Still need to complete one set of backpacks, finalize my Deathriders, but there was something nice about having majority of everything painted for one last game. Forgot to post back when I took the pictures.

Tried out two different mask setups at indoor.

First one uses a reproduction Gas Maske 17 strapped over a lower face mesh and googles, as the original plastic for the mask both fogged constantly and was as one would expect, not impact rated. While the look imo is kinda good, my vision was rather lacking as the googles pushed the holes of the gas mask forward, blocking even more of my peripheral vision.

The second one I used basically the same lower face mesh and googles and just tied a sniper veil around the lower part so it felt more organic to my kit. Vision was decent though the helmet sat lower on my head as the googles didn’t push it up. Fairly comfortable though I had to retie the veil part a few times.

Probably over analyzing it but I like weighing the visual pros and cons of each.

Might be the best and funniest indoor moment I’ve had.

I had my VFC GBB PPSH-41 on hand, but with how high traffic the corner tends to be paired with how tight it was I figured swapping to my foam sword was more polite. Ended up catching my buddy about the chest with a jab in what is now possibly my favorite indoor moment.

Also I think his phone messages are what made the old spice sound but idk for sure.

Use a Plash Palatka in my airsoft kit.

Surplus Plash Palatka I have for airsoft. Gets more use at outdoor and has helped on occasion in the rain. Also helps to reduce some impact at indoor.

Painted a TS helm for the first time.

Painted up a destroyed Rubric Marine helm in the same colors as my GF’s Thousand Sons to be placed on one of the bases I have. In turn she’s gonna use a couple Krieg helmets and skulls for her base plates.

Quite the interesting guy to paint though I can’t even begin to imagine how long it must take per squad.

Paints:
AK Gold
AK Light Prussian Blue
leadbelcher
Warpstone glow

Nuln oil

Love the way this razor wire looks. (Model not fully done)

Used some Army Painter “Battlefield Razor Wire” with some cut up and painted “craft sticks” to make it look like they are running through a destroyed field of razor wire. Not quite finished but certainly enjoying how they are coming along and the wire definitely differentiates them from my regular infantry I think.

Accidentally hit a plane with the Luftfaust B

I figured I might as well try to hit the paratrooper plane, then that I might as well try to hit the guys parachuting. The plane had other ideas I guess.

Minor Edit: I’m not talking about the first plane. That one I missed entirely. I’m referring to the second B25. Should have clipped it better.

Cramped interior of a Basilisk.

I should have painted before I glued so I could have gotten some more detail on the interior. That being said I got two guys set up in there and got some important stuff so I’m fairly happy.

Finishing up my Krieg artillery guns and felt it looked decent.

I used **spent** .22LR casings (**not live rounds**) for the ammo dumps as inspired loosely by images of ww1 ammo dumps. Hasn’t taken a lot of hours to do the actual paintwork though I did have a gap while I waited for the .22’s. Probably gonna go back to finish up the lasguns or any unintended gaps. At the very least I feel it passes the 3 foot rule.

Paints used:

Leadbelcher
Ushabti bone
Sycorax bronze
Warpstone glow
AK French Blue
AK German Field Grey
AK Gun Metal
AK Gold
AK Tan Yellow
AK black
AK Dark Rust
AK Mud Brown

Stirland Mud (for base)

And of course Nuln Oil.

Disclaimers:

These are spent shell casings and are **not live rounds**. Said rounds were fired at a range by a friend of mine. They have also had some cleaning to ensure contaminants such as lead don’t leach off.

I live in the good ol’ US of A, and both state and federal law considers these casings as “waste” or “inert metal.”

I am using spent shell casings because they look fairly accurate in both scale and coloration.

It should go without saying, but don’t use live rounds in a model or point it at someone.

One can use .22 shells for Krieg artillery pieces.

Fits into the breach and looks roughly the right size. Saw someone else post about it a few months ago and finally managed to snag like 35 for use with the guns. Just gotta finish up basing and then work them in.

(Some cleaning may be required to ensure safety from various ammo related materials)

Finally got some .22 shells for my artillery pieces.

I don’t remember who I first saw do it but I just now was able to get some spent shells. It fits perfectly into the breach and looks just about perfect. Gonna try and mimic some of the piles of spent shells I’ve seen in photos from WW1 after I base with stirland mud.

Finally got ten dudes done.

I’ll still probably need to touch them up a bit as I noticed some imperfections. But I feel they passed the 3 foot rule.

For those curious about the Panzer II (F)

This is very much a “Witness me!” Vehicle. Drive in spewing fire and hope nobody has anything that can punch through the thin armor and that you can outrun the sight of anyone that does.

That being said it is partially luck that I wasn’t immediately hit by either the enemy tank or someone else.
