Any word on when the Mega Thunderzord Battle Pack will see a US release? Last year the Dino Megazord Battle Pack was an amazing Black Friday deal, at 60 USD. Hopefully we see a similar deal this coming holiday season!

Has anyone tried ARMSX2 yet?
Seriously considering getting into the handheld gaming sector. I'm talking about making their own version of the Logitech G Cloud or PlayStation Portal. Their tablets are decent enough for it. I actually enjoy their 7" tablet and use it often to play The First Descendant. Here are a few things that they would need to upgrade before making the play.
* USB-C functionality. - This is a big deal. They need to start using a USB-C port that can handle networking AND video output. Sure, it may raise the price a bit but this upgrade alone would do wonders for their tablet lineup.
* Built in or specialized controller. - Having a built in controller obviously makes the device a "handheld" but I can also see prices going up with the 7" device probably starting off at 150 USD if we're lucky. A compromise might be, Onn making USB-C telescopic controllers that work with their tablets. That way the customer has a choice between just a tablet or going full on handheld.
* New UI. -This one isn't as important but I could see the folks at Onn being prideful enough to try. If you want to make a handheld feel like one, you'll need a launcher to match. Hopefully Onn skips out on this as there are already many gaming focused launchers for Android.
That pretty much is. Android has more than enough software out there for portable gaming. There's no need for Onn to waste productivity hours on software. They're just need a good mix of mid to low end hardware to get the job done. Hell the 1024x600 screen on their current 7" tab might seem low in regards to "buzzwords and hype" but in practicality it gets the job done and saves pennies. I do wonder if it could be upgraded to an OLED panel, better color IPS or some basic HDR at the the same resolution without breaking the bank.
In any case I'm done and just wanted to share this thought. If any company could handle hopping into the handheld business, it's probably Onn. I wouldn't trust Amazon to try without falling flat on their asses. Their devices are hot garbage.
Just a heads up, the glitch with the M64 not seeing saves on a repro seems to be fixed. I gave a quick test with Kirby, Goldeneye and Mario Party 1. So far, so good!
For a man that was born on a planet with no capitalism, the man is always finding moments to promote his damn wine 🤦🏾♂️ and I love it! 🤣😂🤣😂. It's almost cartoonish and make for a good laugh if not a smirk.
Just a suggestion but there should be a tag for "real hardware". It would help keep people from guessing if a project works on real hardware and for the folks that only care about such projects, it's easier to skip everything else.

There are at least 4 mods I can think of that I'm wondering if said projects are over or still ongoing.

As a time capsule of sorts, I feel like there's not much else to do. Aside from fixing minor clipping and maybe the hope for a cage match. This project is damn near perfect as is.

I see that v3 is the current one. Is this project over? I haven't touched this one yet but I have the file. From what I can gather, everything that needed to be done is done. Can someone confirm?

I'm guessing this one is still in the cooker? There are some major arena and clipping issues but the game is very playable and fun!!

Definitely in the cooker! Preview 3 has been a blast and I'm VERY impressed with what's available. It really does feel like a brand new game!

I grabbed 3 of the wired Hyperkin Fleet Admiral controllers. Overall, they feel good. Compared to my last, modern style controller, I appreciate the bigger d-pad and more "form fitting grips". This controller also solved my issue with Buck Bumble as it was a lot lore accurate to real N64 stick values. I hope Hyperkin makes an upgraded version of this controller. There are a few things I would change
- brighter transparent colors. Red, purple and green are OK but I wish they were a bit lighter. Less serious and more playful feeling.
- more colors. As it stands, I could only find the wired variant in red, purple, green and smoke.
- a toggle for ZL and ZR. It would be nice to have a toggle next to the dual Z buttons to switch between L/ZL and r/ZR.
- bigger, more grooved triggers
- add some shape to L and R. The plan rectangular buttons are just...boring
My nit-picking aside, these are solid controllers. I'm glad the Hyperkin Rep convinced me to grab these.
I have a copy of paper Mario that I don't need. A few things you need to know...
It's a repro cart but it works with the current version of the M64 software so you can save and load from it.
i installed a new energizer CR2032 battery into this cart this morning as well as performed some tests.
The only reason why I'm "giving" this away and it's a big reason. This cart will only save to ONE save file at a time. If you're a solo gamer, this is great but if you have a family, sharing carts, this isn't a perfect situation
I'm only asking for 10 USD to cover shipping and will only ship to someone in the US
If all of this seems fair to you, message me and we can talk. Hopefully I'm not pissing off any M64 mods with this post BUT hopefully I can help someone add a great game to their collection. In the meantime, I'll be busy buying an updated repro of this game.

A few days back I reported an issue to ModRetro where the save file on a repro game pak will show on a original Nintendo 64 but not the M64. Seems that the issue isn't stuck to just Mario Party. Before I continue, a little background about my collection. I have 77 game paks split in the following manner.
- 2 Summer carts (one dedicated to Smash Remix and one dedicated to ECW Born to be Wired)
- 26 Reproduction games.
- 1 ModRetro release
- 48 Original game paks
Repro carts where the game saves internally seem to not work at this time. Sure, they play but your ability to save will NOT work.
Repro carts that use the controller pak for saving seem to work just fine. My save for Wonder Project J2 was botched up but honestly I think that's a controller pak issue and I simply need to swap the damn board to a FRAM version. 🤦🏾♂️
Oddly enough the following internal save repros do work
- Dinosaur Planet
- Diddy Kong Racing
- Pokemon Stadium 2
- Resident Evil 2
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
- The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
- Paper Mario ( I need to do more testing so don't hold me on this one) 🤷🏾♂️
If anyone wants to compare boards, I can return with a complete list of all my repros and upload pictures. I know the damn SummerCart evangelists will ask "why don't you get a SummerCart?" Fact is, some of us like collecting game paks and instead of shunning people for playing games differently, we should do our best to make the M64 experience as good as possible for every type of player. I don't want to flood ModRetro with too many tickets so I'll leave this info here for now and monitor things with the next update.
If you're just joining the N64 scene and you are considering repro paks, maybe start with the ones that require controller pak saving first? Especially if the M64 is your main Nintendo 64 console.

Is there a step by step tutorial on how to either use the N64 video player or convert video into the .z64 format?
This might not be an issue for most of you but, if there is anyone here using a N64 controller with a GameCube Style stick just know that Buck Bumble might not play nicely with your controller. Buck Bumble is one of the few games that looks for particular values on the analog stick. In my case I have to push the stick halfway for the game to register movement. Full stick press makes the game freak out. I already reported this to ModRetro hoping that maybe they can add a toggle for adjusted stick values.

Now that M64 and the Analogue 3D are both out, it's time to start thinking about the future of this modern "N64 platform" that's being created. Both ModRetro and Analogue have taken the major step of providing hardware. ModRetro is also releasing new software. I'm hoping for the following...
* Unified netplay. - This would be perfect if a lock-on cartridge like XBand was available. Realistically I could see separate, software based, netplay solutions for M64 and Analogue 3D for a while until a unified service is agreed on.
* Retro Acheivements. - I'm sure it's only a matter of time so I'm not too worried about this one
* N64 video. - Earlier this year the N64 video player homebrew software was released. Unofficially, I could see some enterprising person releasing carts with complete TV shows or one season per cart. Hopefully ModRetro could license some cheap 90's and early 2k shows + anime and make video carts. If any capable person is reading, a cart with an English translated Evangelion game plus all episodes would kick so much ass!
* Different kinds of controllers. - Not much of a big deal but it would be interesting to see someone attempt a "faux dual stick" controller for the N64. If any of you remember the C-stick nipple from the 3DS, I can imagine someone sticking a control nipple in the middle of the C buttons. This would be great for shooters.
* Messaging, console web browser, some sort of social platform. - this will be most likely a "bottom of the list" item but even if you're required to use a app on a device separate from you N64 console of choice, having a social platform where all N64 players can connect, share thoughts and match make would be great.
I'm done. I would love to read what others are hoping to see from the N64 over the next few years.
