Older truck vs newer truck

So I’m looking at some midsize trucks that are at 2 different price points, a 2025 Ford Ranger STX 4X4 thats a leftover new vehicle the was used as a dealer loaner car that has 1700 miles and is listed at 32k

2nd car is a 2019 Nissan Frontier SV 4X4 that’s listed at 22k that has 40k miles on it.

I’d be paying cash for whatever vehicle I pick but I’m at a crossroads between 2 trucks that have a decent age and price gap in between them.

Would the frontier be cheaper to insure or would the ranger? The frontier has a little bit more interior features then the ranger but the ranger has way more safety features and is more modern then the frontier.

So do I go with the newer one with more tech or do I save money with the older truck ? I have yet to call my insurance agent but I just wanted to run this through here first.

I live in central Florida and I’m 23 years old (Male) if that helps

What’s causing new 2024s to not sell 2 years later?

Mullinax Ford has 30 total brand new 2024 Ford Edges sitting on their lots between the Apopka , Kissimmee and West Palm Beach locations.

25 SEs 4 SELs and 1 ST Line , they have anywhere from 8k-10k off sticker price and have between 5 miles and 6k miles on them.

What’s causing these not to sell??? I know they discontinued the edge but they still make parts for them.

Maintenance cost?

I’ve been looking at gen 2 frontiers ( specifically 2011-2019) and gen 2.5 frontiers (2020-2021) as a daily driver/dog hauler and I was wondering how the cost of maintenance is for the 4.0V6 with the 5 speed auto and the 3.8V6 with the 9 speed auto.

Are parts easy to find and is it gonna be costly for fluid changes and other normal maintenance?

My brother has a Bronco and to change a headlight it cost him $1100….. I don’t want that lol

I hear these vehicles are very reliable little trucks , I also heard the first year of the 3.8 V6 and 9 speed transmission had a lot of issues so I’m aiming more towards the 4.0 V6.

I just need something that’s gonna be good for 200k+ miles and isn’t gonna cost me much to maintain.

My Mustang GT is my fun car but it sucks in the rain and other bad weather and it isn’t practical for my dog

Why do Nissan trucks get so much hate?

And how come whenever people hear Nissan they automatically think it has a CVT????

Nissan Frontiers (all model years) ( and some Nissan titans also) are probably some of the most reliable trucks on the road and they are half the price of a Toyota truck.

An 80k mile Toyota Tacoma is still $30k while a 80k mile nissan frontier is 20K and can be just as reliable

Thoughts on this one?

I found a 2021 SV Midnight Edition earlier that had 41k miles and was listed for 22.9k but I later found out that it had a 2nd year engine in it that had problems.

So I’ve started searching for another one that’s a 2011-2019 and I found this.

It’s a 2019 Frontier 4X2 Desert Runner that has a clean CARFAX , 1 owner and no accidents listed at right under 20k and it even has all the maintenance they did to it before they listed it for sale.

Is this a good deal or should I keep looking??? All I’ve heard is how reliable these trucks are , I’m just looking for a daily driver that I can haul my dog around in

Should I do it?

I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on this leftover 2025 ranger , it’s listed as brand new but was used as a loaner vehicle.

I like the 2.3 Ecoboost and I’m familiar with the platform , it’s only RWD but I live in Florida and don’t really need 4WD , unless you all think it’s worth the extra money.

I see it’s rated at 21 city 25 highway….. is that pretty accurate??? What real world MPG do you all get??? How much range in a full tank can you get???

I’ve always liked the rangers , this would be my daily driver/ dog hauler , me and the misses have no kids right now , just a dog:)

To those who have an STX ranger how you all like it? Should I spend a little more to get some extra features??? My Mustang GT has heated seats and it’s not really a big deal if I don’t have them on my daily, my Mustang is my fun car

Is the 2nd gen Nissan frontier reliable?

I’ve been interested in looking at the 2nd gen frontier (2005-2021). I found one near me that’s a 2021 with 41k miles , located at my local ford dealer, one owner clean title and it had been serviced at a Nissan dealership its whole life.

It’s listed at 23k and it’s significantly cheaper than a Tacoma but I wasn’t sure if the reliability is as good.

I don’t know much about these trucks , used rangers also cost very close to new ones but I know the earlier years of the new rangers had some issues so for the price and it having a N/A V6 the frontier is something I’d consider.

What should I look out for when buying a used one? Will they last 200k+ miles??? I’m just looking for a daily driver/dog hauler.

Real world fuel economy

To those with the 2.5 4 banger in the 22 - 25 outlanders and 1.5T mild hybrid in the 26s what MPG are you all getting??? Is anyone getting high 30s on the highway?

Also what kinda range do you get on a full tank? Is 400+ miles of range possible?

Are Nissan rogues still unreliable?

Seems like the CVT issues killed Nissans reputation, idk how the new ones are but i know 2013-2019 had major failures

Does anyone have a new outlander with the new 1.5t engine????

If so how has it been ??? I know it’s a brand new engine and I’m outlander shopping right now , I’d be hesitant to buy a new car with a new engine, I’d be worried about first year problems.

Just wanted to see how it’s performed so far for people , I really like the outlander

Just got the build date!!!!

Just got the build date for my Mustang GT, once it goes into production how quickly does the process usually move from production to delivery ??? Took about a month for me to get a build date.

I’m so excited, this will be my first ever Mustang and it’s been my dream car ever since I was a kid

u/OkBackground6217 — 7 days ago

Ahhhh I just got the projected build date!!!!

Hopefully it stays on track , so that means I’d likely get it the end of July?????

Order wait time?

I ordered a 2026 Mustang GT on 4/16/2026 through a dealership in my home state of Louisville KY.

I optioned it as a GT 301a package with the 10 speed automatic transmission, nite pony package and active valve exhaust in vapor blue.

It has been almost a month and has still not gone into production yet.

How long did you all have to wait for your Mustang to be build and delivered??? Dealership told me it could be July or August but so far I haven’t heard anything else.

Mitsubishi should revive themselves with this

I heard rumors that they were being back the montero in 2027 or 28, if they give that thing an N/A V6 with a hybrid or plug in hybrid it could be a serious competitor with the 4Runner and the new Xterra that’s being reintroduced.

Next up they should bring back the lancer or gallent and make it a Honda accord/toyota Camry competitor with a performance trim level.

And finally they should bring back the endeavor and make it a true 7 passenger SUV with a usable 3rd row and have it compete with the Mazda CX90, Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot
