Evernote on iPhone SE 2022

Evernote acknowledges Notes Don't Display on iPhone 6s, iOS 15.8.7.

I don't expect it to be fixed.

My best option is to get an iPhone SE 2022.

Does your iPhone SE 2022 work?

The lottery seems to be good evidence that god doesn't participate in the world.

The lottery seems to be good evidence that god doesn't participate in the world.
The balls are random so the winners are too.
God could easily only make "the right people" win.
It would be visible for all and impossible to explain because since so many play the lottery they'll always appear to be random.

Does god exist?
Why not...
... as the creator of the universe and in the afterlife as every big religion says.
(Is there a religion that says we know god exists because a,b and c will happen?
No. Each religion is a story about god - a different angle to give ownership to the club, extended family, that is religion.)

"I'm not sure you have the stomach for the realities"

Bert Cooper says, "I'm not sure you have the stomach for the realities" in the Mad Men season 3 finale episode titled "Shut the Door. Have a Seat" (Season 3, Episode 13).

Seems quite ridiculous ... who else in that entire series has the stomach for it?

Two seasons ago he went AWOL.

Talked his way into an agency, and someone from no one to Create Director with ZERO ad agency experience. When he was doing furs was he looking for an ad agency job?

Bert personally gave him a check for $25k for winning key accounts. We have never seen Bert be tough outside the office except for the secretary with gum.

Two solutions to brain fog.

Two solutions to brain fog.
Both work for me.
Maybe for you.

  1. Find out if your blood sugar coincides with it.
  2. I have found high sugar makes me anxious, which makes me eat, raises sugar and so on. When I eat right the brain fog is mostly gone.
  3. Thinking Aloud People who are focus-challenged need help ... and great help is thinking aloud, speak what you are thinking, it can even be a commentary on what you're working on ... trying being a play by play announcer for yourself. Get a randomly ringing bell (app) to continue to remind you. It's absurd you'll be able to continuously, trying 10x a day for 3-minutes each. Start VERY SLOWLY.

Is the bell curve proof that god doesn't exist in the natural world?

The bell curve is the 'normal distribution' of all "naturally random" occurrences.

Height, gender, rock size, whatever you like.

If that's so then it's proof god doesn't participate in the world other than creating it.
Otherwise there would be no such thing.

And it explains all suffering as luck ... does each person have all the tools needed to thrive, let alone survive in whatever situation they're born into?

Luck is the expression of god in the natural world. What you call randomness can just as well be 'god's hand'.

God's domain can only be supernatural.

God is not a being.

"If God is a perfect being." ... who is saying god is a being? ... I'm a HUMAN being, what kind is god?

"God is a perfect being."
"God is a omniscient being."
etc...

Why are we saying god is a being?
I'm a HUMAN being, what kind is god?

Pavlov is the answer for focus-challenged people.

Summary:

The Problem — Why focus-challenged people fail.

The Wrong Solution — Willpower.

The Right Solution — Become a director and build habits.

How to Think — Dress rehearsals and practice.

How to Train — Restoration, Pomodoro, Pavlov.

Willpower Abuse is why Focus-Challenged People Fail

Expecting willpower to help with everything surely sets you up for depression and paralysis. It's designed for short bursts—emergencies, difficult choices, pushing through the last few reps—not for making hundreds of decisions every day.

Your brain simply hasn't evolved to keep pace with the complexity of modern life. Expecting willpower to carry that load is unrealistic.

And when willpower fails guess who feels like crap ... because it's an indictment of your character.

Your Mission is Habit Mastery

Your goal is not to become more disciplined. Your goal is to become a Habit Master.

Every habit you build is one less decision your brain has to make.

Every routine you automate is one less opportunity for willpower to fail.

Think of habits as outsourcing work from willpower to conditioning.

This is why I recommend studying Atomic Habits. Don't read it—study it. Do the workbook. Make understanding habits your next habit.

Your life doesn't improve because you become stronger.

It improves because you become more automatic.

Pavlov is your spirit animal.

Become the Director

Stop trying to be both the actor and the director.

The actor performs.

The director observes and corrects.

You have executive function but when you're in the thick of doing we usually stop making observations.

Try thinking aloud (not talking aloud ... observation, analysis, live action executive function) ... I will say that for me it's life changing ... when I do it ... which brings us to practice.

Everything Is Practice

Treat everything as practice or a dress rehearsal.

It's really so much better than a 'this is life, I've got few chances, I've got to be great, it's all or nothing' mentality. (Start recognizing when you think that!)

The language matters.

"I need to work."

No.

"I'm going to practice."

Yes.

Practice has no failure. You either practiced or you didn't.

Success is measured by practicing, not performing.

GENTLY SHOW UP ... best advice I can give from all this...

Pavlov is the answer for focus-challenged people.

You have to pretend to be a director

Trying to be both actor and director will wear you out in 1/10th the time.

Director is practicing creating habits.

It's easier to approach everything as dress rehearsal. Always.

You cannot use willpower to get things done ... except for building the habits that make you not depend on will power.

Life for us is not about focusing ... it's creating habits so we don't need to focus every second.

Make everything practice ... the languaging is important... I need to work is WRONG ... that means you feel horrible if you don't do it. I am going to practice ... regardless of my feelings ... is the right command to follow. I have a break coming up. Nap or whatever. WORK ON RESTORATION. SLEEP, WORKOUT, VERY SMALL MEALS, WHATEVER.

The human body has not, and will never, evolve fast enough with the complexity of society. Your goal is to train your health so your body can better perform.

It really is something like physical training ... so you can have more productive hours a day because managing life is mentally far harder than 5000 years ago.

YOU CAN'T RELY ON WILLPOWER BECAUSE IT'S AN INDICTMENT ON YOUR CHARACTER.

You can only measure success by practicing ... use a Pomodoro, it's the #1 Pavlov training gadget.

PAVLOV IS THE THE THE ANSWER FOR FOCUS-CHALLENGED PEOPLE.

Free will exists because you count good.

Humans are beings that have free will simply because their not limited in choices.

That's not by definition, it's by asking one self 'what's the largest number I can conceive' because that exercise distinguishes what is self-awareness ... the capacity to understand there are no limits to choices... the capacity to understand infinity.

IOW, a finite brain being able to conceive not-finite existence has "emerged". A dolphin may be able to recognize oneself but is that free will or more like advanced pattern recognition?

Determinists say: Everything is caused, therefore predetermined, therefore no free will.

So what is being claimed here, that the existence of reality precludes free will? That the only free will is existence without the barriers of reality? You exist but the universe doesn't? ... literally, logically, impossible.

(Why does this discussion even exist? Who cares about an unknowable mechanism that has no bearing on anything? It's like arguing that god controls everything at all times ... so...?... what is one to compare it to? You say god exists? I say our god is operated by a bigger god. Does it matter?

But even so, as an appeasement, I can claim determinism merely describes the causal process by which free will operates.

Willpower, shame, being, doing, procrastination.

Here’s a distinction I put my thumb on a few months ago. it’s been life-changing, very very little procrastination.

I used to find it difficult to work 30 minutes without getting completely frustrated. Now it’s just no problem sitting down on demand and working an hour and a half to three hours.

It explains, very briefly, why you can’t rely on being, that is will power, for being productive.

When a person believes that success depends mainly on exerting willpower, every struggle is now a judgment character.

If they act, they feel strong. If they hesitate, avoid, or procrastinate, the failure is interpreted as weakness. That interpretation triggers shame.

This is why building habit is perhaps the most critical skill you have, right next to communication. make one of your jobs to change your habit making skills.

if this is valuable, please vote. I want to know how many people are participating in this thread before investing a lot of time into it.

Provisionally Complete

Provisionally complete is the term that describes the it’s already done phrase in the banner.

Existential versus conventional is what this is all about, and I use it all day every day, I have , if that’s the word, distinctions that have helped me completely get rid of procrastination, most shame, and my A1c has dropped in the last six months from 12 to 6 1/2.

I have nothing to sell. Tell me if this is what we’re talking about here and I’ll post some goodies.

How much practice, before the studio?

How much practice might a song need before take 1?

I just heard HELP! ... takes 1-12 and it seems like a dozen or two takes is moderate to hone in on a album quality sound.

I don't recall any interviews where they talked about the hidden hours of practice.

Is Rhea Seehorn overreacting to being told she wasn't hot?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuveKl3fRgM - "RHEA SEEHORN Recalls Being Told to Her Face She Wasn't Hot Enough for the Role"

Is she overreacting?

What successful actress thinks looks shouldn't matter?

She told about being turned down for a role because of looks.
She says "How is one supposed to deal with that?"

Isn't the answer "I get it. I agree I'm a 7. You want a 9."

And my counter example is BBad and Plur1bus. One reason she was strong is because she is not gorgeous, she's above average.

No question to me that Scarlett Johansson is not right for those roles.

No question to me that Karolina Wydra (Zosia) has to be better looking than Rhea to match the role because no one is going to believe the romance unless they're a tiny bit jealous.

When the Samba Schutte character (the luxury life) was introduced were you surprised he was tall and good looking? And the Spanish guy is short and and average?

My gosh.

The show is great. I just hope it doesn't pull a BBad, JCSaul, Severance, Mad Men, Deadwood, three seasons and now it gets ridiculous.

And ... it would be quite something if Rhea's character becomes handicapped.

Randomness proves free will.

The existence I live in, which I have no choice over because it has nothing to do with my existence, that manifested into the existing of beings which have brain chemistry that none of which I had choice over, which has an emergent property of consciousness, which creates self realization, and therefore I now exist, based on that autonomous brain chemistry, leads me to learn certain things, and choose certain things, that people say are not in my control, and therefore I don’t have free will.

My head hurts. So I go get ice cream. Looking forward to chocolate chip mint. No free will involved.

As I am standing there waiting to order, I realize or, remember, that I have free will, and therefore infinite options.

So I decide I’m going to take a different path this time, I’m going to remove the possibility of chocolate chip, mint, and risk the chance that I can find something even better. I’m ready to order so I tell the clerk give me two scoops, each one a random flavor.

I have free will because I can realize my own will can be limited by the boundaries of existence I had no say over.

The irony is that I have free will because I have the will to delegate my will.

now my will includes the capacity to , which would seem to be a much larger set of infinite options than I had before.

**I’m thinking Free will is the awareness of randomness, being proof that we have unlimited options at every moment.**Yes, it's not random ... wrong word.

It's proves it's unlimited ... because it literally proves there is no boundary regardless of one's own. Recognizing your own control over your existence means your options are unlimited.

This is my theory being a creative. I didn’t stop being naïve until my 50s when I started focusing more on making money.

How does one prove they traveled?

"I was traveling, not driving."
Ok, prove it.

How does one prove they traveled?
Yes, we have the right to travel ... so show that you did.

Otherwise you're talking about some other right.

There's no conversation to be had about protecting your right to travel when it's not on the table.

Oh, you claim you went from home to the mall, ten miles away?
And you're showing me a receipt from a mall purchase?
Did you walk?
Helicopter?
Did you hitchhike?

A genie grants God three wishes. What are they?

I say God has no wishes if God is omniscient, omnipotent, etc.

How can a being who defines everything, need anything, want anything?

Religion is actually evidence of that. Because religion is a story, by definition. There’s no right religion because they’re all right, again by definition.
