If I take my TEAS on the 25th is that enough time to apply?

Hey y’all, to those that have taken and applied to nursing school is this enough time to apply, the application deadline is Aug. 31. I wanted to wait to the last very minute to take my TEAS again to apply to my program but don’t want to risk taking it too late.

Guys I’m so embarrassed

Y’all, I’ve been a dental assistant for 6 years but recently out of the game for about a year now. I don’t have any dental insurance so I haven’t seen a dentist in a year. I got really sick, which is why I had to quit but I haven’t been taking care of my teeth these past couple months, my sickness caused me to be chronically fatigued and the meds I took stained my teeth! I’m getting an exam and cleaning done tomorrow and I’m so nervous and embarrassed, I should know better to take care of my teeth but I physically could not some days. I want to tell them I was an assistant (mostly so I don’t get fooled by overpaying) but embarrassed bc of the condition of my teeth. Anyways, this is more of a emotional support post and hopefully I feel better :/

AC went out, i'm over it already

Y'all, our ac went out yesterday and it's 89 degrees in the house, i'm so over it!! We have some people coming out on Tuesday and bought a small portable window unit but loorrdd I want out of this damn house.

We have a cat too, i'm afraid it's too hot in the house for him. I know we could go to the library or mall or something to be in some ac but does anybody know if I can bring my cat lol, i'd feel bad just leaving him home in the heat and would want to take him with me to cool down. Any ideas where I can take my cat?

Is it bad that I want to use birth control as a "band aid"?

Hey friends! I haven't discussed with my doctor yet, I have an appointment coming up to discuss labs, my DHEA is high but I want to be prepared with the right questions. I do have irregular periods, especially these last couple of months (my body was under a lot of stress due to sickness), my skin is so bad right now and so is my facial hair (I did laser but I got paradoxical hypertrichosis) so I want to make sure my hormones are good before I try any type of laser or electrolysis again.

I know that birth control is a "band aid" but honestly, I kind of just want to take it again, the only bad side effect I had was nausea at times but it wasn't so bad. I want to go on it again because i'm a broke college student, I can't really afford to trial a bunch of supplements right now, I eat fairly clean, i've been getting back into movement, i'm not overweight, I lost a ton of weight and muscle mass due to sickness but i'm going into nursing school and won't have time to be worried about my skin and facial hair and doing the "right" things all the time, like I know i'm gonna slip up and it won't be perfect.

I do get that BC will be masking my symptoms but I don't want to get pregnant any time soon, we've had it for so many years and there is always going to be side effects to any medication, and when I was on it, my skin was clear and my facial hair was not as bad, in my mind, why not make it a bit easier on myself while i'm going into nursing school but of course still taking care of my lifestyle and making it as healthy as can be.

Do you think I should discuss with him any other potential reasons to high DHEA other than PCOS/PMOS? I also don't know if I should ask to get tested for insulin resistance PCOS just to further investigate. Anyways, do you think going on birth control would be good?

Thank y'all in advance, this community is amazing!

Are these settings good for my hair type?

Hey guys, I have been getting laser on my face for years and it gets frustrating that my hairs are still pretty prominent. I am getting tested for PCOS, but regardless of that I’m positive I got paradoxical hypertrichosis. I’m South Asian and I’ve heard that we’re more prone to it and I did not have this much hair when I started. I had a couple thick ones but never as much as now.

My last treatment was Aug. 2025 and these were my settings. I haven’t had a treatment since because I got really sick but now that I’m feeling better, I need to get another treatment done because my hair has been bad for a couple months now. I’ve included a pic of what my hairs look like right now.

My question is, are the settings that I had done in 2025 fine for what my hairs look like right now? They also looked like this when I got it done in 2025 but I feel the settings aren’t the best from what I’ve researched is that the pulse duration should maybe be lower because the hairs aren’t coarse but more medium density but I know I’m at a pretty high Fluence, so I’m scared of getting burned. As a professional, what would you recommend if you saw me? Thank y’all in advance, I just want to feel feminine again 🫶🏼

What would you do?

Hey friends! I'm in a little bit of a dilemma. I had some health issues and then had to leave town for 6 weeks for some family issues, I have been studying when I can but feel I could do more (or i'm just psyching myself out bc i'm nervous to take it).

Here's my issue, the school I really want to get into has a deadline of Aug. 31, my second choice is Aug. 1, both,i've heard are competitive to get into but I feel I have a better chance at my first choice and I really want to get into this one, it's an ASN with concurrent BSN, whereas the second is BSN but longer and more expensive.

I was supposed to take the TEAS earlier in the year but got very ill, should I rush and take the TEAS this Thursday so I can apply to the second choice and I can retake the exam in 30 days which would be Aug. 26 in case I don't get a score i'm happy with to apply to my first choice or should I just forget about the second choice and just give myself a little more time to take the TEAS before applying to my top choice?

For context: i've taken all pre-reqs and passed with A's, I feel confident but also psyching myself out and want to give myself time and don't want to risk my application for the first choice. The first choice recommends a score of 80 or above for all sections and the second choice is 65 overall.

What would you do? Take the TEAS once or twice?

Am I priming this correct?

Hey friends! My aunt needs help injecting insulin, my cousin usually does it but she’s not available right now. Her insulin pen goes by 10’s and we need to inject a total of 100 units. The first notch is 10, I’m assuming and then has the big number 20 and so on. Do I have to set it to the 10 notch or 20 for priming but then am I wasting 10 or 20 units? It seems like a lot and I’m not sure if that’s right but I’ve always been taught you need to prime the needle. I hope this makes sense! I’ve attached a picture as well to show what I mean by the notches! Thank you!

Need y’all’s supportive comments

Hey friends! This is the first time I’ll be going on an airplane since developing anxiety. For context, I’ve never had anxiety of flying, only elevators but I would still go on them no problem, this new fear started last year after my first panic attack from being sick. I’ve been doing better and haven’t had a panic attack in a while after finding out what was causing my anxiety. I had a horrible stomach infection that I’m now healing from and in turn is what caused the anxiety.

Tomorrow, I’m going on a last minute flight that will be three hours, it’s an emergency, my uncle is not doing well in the hospital and my mom wants me to go with her. We literally booked the ticket today and I can’t stop thinking about the “what if’s?”. I’m afraid I will have a panic attack, it’s the feeling of being stuck that gets me, the noises don’t bother me, just the thought of “ok! I’m “stuck” in a plane for 3 hours!” And then I think what if I can’t come home bc I’ll be scared to come back on the flight home! Anyways, I need some words of encouragement and any advice. Please no medication or seeing a doc advice since it’s so last minute!! Thank you, everyone. 🫶🏼

Is this fungal acne due to gut damage from antibiotics?

Hello everyone! I recently have been experiencing so many skin colored bumps all over my forehead and honestly my whole face. They do get itchy at times, BHA and acne products makes it worse, I’ve been using the Z-bar from vanicream and no help!

I recently did take a month long worth of strong antibiotics so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is fungal overgrowth/my gut being wrecked. I’ve noticed it’s spread to my upper back as well. Thank you all in advance!

Anyone have fungal overgrowth after treatment?

Hey friends! I finished triple and quad therapy over 2 months ago but I think I’m suffering from fungal overgrowth.

I eat tons of yogurt and kefir everyday but I think I have overgrowth, I’m experiencing horrible acne that looks fungal, vaginal itching, constant belching, I have white stringy saliva, I do see a white patch on the back of my tongue but I’m not sure if it is actually oral thrush?

I’m good about oral hygiene and I know my gut is completely messed up from the month long of antibiotics but I’ve never had a yeast infection before so I’m not sure if this what it is! Anyone experience this and it turned out to be fungal, needing medication? Thanks in advance!

Hives every time I leave the house?

Hey friends! I'm mostly posting to see if anyone is able to help or has any idea, I don't have insurance right now but working on figuring something out to see a doc. I'm 25F, recently diagnosed with H. pylori and finished two rounds of crazy strong antibiotics. I finished the first round of high dose Amoxicillin, Rifabutin and omeprazole in January but didn't finish the whole course (12 out of 14 days) because I broke out in hives and my GI rec I go to the ER and stop since he thought it might be the meds. I was given Benadryl, pepcid, steroid shot and a medrol pack.

I then broke out in hives again in Feb. and no new medications or new diet. I then had to do the second round of antibiotics/treatment, Metronidazole, Tetracycline, Pepto & omeprazole, was able to finish that successfully. This was 8 weeks ago and I broke out in hives again recently on May. 8 when I went to go get retested for H. pylori, negative now.

Here's the pattern I noticed, for all 3 times I break out in hives, it's when I leave the house, exposed to outside air or heat and only where my skin isn’t covered. I wear sunscreen. The hives will happen HOURS later, it doesn't matter if it's cloudy or sunny, I still broke out. Both times I just took Benadryl and Pepcid at home and they resolved.

I have never had hives or allergies before, only seasonal and when I moved to San Antonio a couple years ago (they say it happens when you move here), i'll usually take claritin and i'm good.

Does anybody know why this may be happening? Is it maybe due to how messed up my gut is from the antibiotics and then in turn causing histamine issues? I haven't left the house besides those 3 times since this all happened the first breakout, i'm just so confused on what's happening. Should I just take a daily histamine and test it out until i'm able to see a doc? Thank you all in advance!

Hives after antibiotics/gut dysfunction

Hey friends! I’ve been breaking out in hives every time I leave the house, without even being outside for long, just going to a doc appt or the grocery store. I will break out in hives HOURS later, if I leave in the morning, it will wake me up in the middle of the night and it is only in the areas where my skin was exposed. I put sunscreen on and I use products that are fragrance free.

I was recently diagnosed with H. Pylori and have finished two rounds of antibiotic treatment. The first treatment I had to stop with 2 days left because I broke out in hives and was told by my GI to go the ER bc they weren’t sure if it was the antibiotics causing it, this was Jan. 29. They gave me Pepcid, Benadryl and a steroid shot. I then broke out in hives again on Feb. 19 and both times I left the house, so I think it was from an environmental factor. No, ER, I don’t have insurance and it looked like the first time, I just took Benadryl and Pepcid.

I had to take different antibiotics again since I didn’t finish the first round and finished a 14 day course on March 8. I just left the house today for the first time again and I’m breaking out in hives.

Could the reason I’m breaking out be due to how messed up my gut is from the antibiotics? Maybe, the whole stress my body has been under since treating the H. Pylori?

I have no idea what’s happening and I’ve been scared to leave the house!!! If any of you have any insight, I would really appreciate it. 🫶🏼

I’ve included two pictures, the first one is from Jan. 29 and the second is from Feb. 19.

Hey friends! Wondering if anyone else has gone through this, I saw most posts of saying they had this happen WITH H. Pylori but I’m wondering if this has happened to anyone AFTER treatment?

I’ve been experiencing random low blood sugar moments especially after waking up or a nap, I’ll feel dizzy, I can feel my heart pounding and hot and as soon as I drink some juice, I’ll start to feel better and eat it regulates. I try to eat every 2-3 hours and mostly do so I’m not sure why it happens. This has started happening after I finished quad therapy (tetra, metro, pepto & omeprazole) 8 weeks ago, I’ve been off ppi for 2 weeks and will be getting retested in a couple days.

Is this possibly caused by how messed up my gut is after the harsh antibiotics/dysbiosis?
