Travelling as a couple in a hostel?

Hi all!

I’m wondering if anyone has travelled with their partner to a hostel, especially a party one. I’m wondering what your experience is like making friends? As a female traveller I’ve been in a hostel with girl friends before and we found it extremely easy to make friends (especially guys). We would be very open to making friends!!

Dr Arash Danesh

Does anyone have any experience with Dr Arash Danesh and can let me know if he was good for your assessment through Fluence? Thank you! (ASD AND ADHD)

How do you answer this?

This is a parental evidence form for supporting evidence for assessment through Fluence clinic. How is one supposed to answer this?
Most likely is an ASD question but there are similar ones in the ADHD assessment questions. Has anyone else noticed this? There is no text box either

Money exchange in Phuket

Hi all,

Travelling to Thailand next week, landing in Phuket in the evening. Unfortunately we’ve ran out of time to get Baht before leaving. We have wise cards with money on them. Where is best to get cash out in Phuket? How does it work?

Thanks a lot!

Deinfluence me from buying ohuhu markers

I’ve recently gotten into colouring and have Kmart markers. I’ve found out about the ohuhu markers and now I really want these, specifically the 320 set which is almost $400!!! I haven’t been able to colour since finding out about them because I want to use those markers instead of the ones I have. What do we think?

Accidentally broke into someone else’s house

Basically I was with a client for the first time when I was to take him to his house. From handover I remember the other SW saying he lived at number 5. Then I go to the front door he gets his key out and tries to unlock it and it doesn’t work. He says it is his house when I ask. So I say how about we try the back, and he says yes. So we go around the back I try the key and it unlocks (or so I thought turns out it’s already unlocked). We go in and it doesn’t look like a SIL house looks more like a family home. I’m weirded out and ask him is this your house?! And there is dog stuff there I thought he does not have a dog. Then a car shows up in the driveway, I’m like who is this? Then a guy gets out and is essentially like what are you doing in my house???? Can you leave?

I’m so embarrassed at this point apologising profusely. SO embarrassed. I realise the participant lives in the house next door we so go there and that is his actual house. Anyways the guy from next door knocks on the door and is like sorry it’s all good I was just worried my cat might’ve escaped it’s all fine.

My question is do I need to do an incident report or tell anyone or just leave it? Nothing bad happened in the end. Apart from me being so embarrassed.

Changing GPs

Hi all. Sorry if this is a stupid question.
I’ve just been referred to Fluence clinic for an assessment of ADHD/ASD by a GP who I no longer want to see. There is a different GP I wish to continue this journey with if I end up diagnosed and want to pursue medication. How should I go about contacting them to forward all information to this new GP not the one who referred me? Has anyone done something similar.
Also nervous about Fluence clinic because I’ve heard negative things.

HIGHSCHOOL CATFISH

I know I’m late to it but I’ve just finished watching Unknown Number: The Highschool Catfish and I just am shook! How disgusting. Like literally WTF?

The way that she was on the show too I don’t think she deserved to give her opinion I felt no empathy for her at all.

Can all doctors access everything?

Hi all quick question. My psychologist is sending information to my GP, as I’m going into the GP to ask for a referral a diagnosis of ADHD. Unfortunately the GP I really wanted to see is sick (I don’t have a ‘regular GP’) and they have no idea when she will be back. Instead, I’ve booked with another GP. Will he be able to access the email? Like the psychologist wouldn’t have directly emailed it to the GP I initially said I was seeing right? Also how do I ask the GP I’m seeing to look at it in the appointment.
TIA!

Childhood signs if you loved school

Hi Ladies, I know this has been posted before but I’m wanting some refreshed answers.

Basically, I’ve been speaking to my psychologist and she thinks it is a possibility I could have ADHD. I’ve been filling out self assessments (for ADHD but also ASD). I really feel like it could be a strong possibility. However, I have a bit of anxiety about childhood symptoms.

As a child I was completely obsessed with school, and I was absolutely fixated on the idea of becoming a teacher. I did schoolwork at home even when I didn’t have to, and participated in all the extra curricular. My dad offered my brother and I the day off once to go to the waterpark and my brother went and I stayed because I loved school too much. My reports support this and I was always described as a joy to have, a great classmate, always do what I’m told with a positive attitude, and all other very kind things. Once I hit high school, which is Australia is grade 7 (so, 11 turning 12) is when my grades started to slip.

Here is my list of quirks/possible signs I have been able to compile from childhood (I don’t have good memories from this time either):
- very messy bedroom always and desk at school
- terrible emotional regulation and constant large meltdowns and tantrums at home
- I played five instruments because I kept getting bored and feeling as though I had ‘mastered’ them
- sensory issues with clothes
- big issues falling asleep, I remember counting sheep and then my brain would just introduce something new for example a bulldozer would come and run over the paddock where the sheep were jumping 🤦🏼‍♀️ I also had trouble staying asleep and would come into my parents room every night because I would consistently wake up in the middle of the night, I would sleep on their bed and eventually when I became too big they had to put a mattress on their floor because I would sleep on their floor
- hated brushing my teeth and showering
- bossy liked things my way
- could not take criticism
- had a huge imagination
- just a lot of academic pressure on me but it was all internal, no one was pressuring me from anywhere else.

I feel like these are not going to be enough to warrant a diagnosis, even though I show a lot of signs now. I feel as though once the structure I had from primary school that I excelled under went away I began to sort of crumble, I no longer wanted to be a teacher anymore either. I want to know what your signs were as a kid who did well or liked school?

Also I have been talking to my mother and am still waiting to hear from her. She is diagnosed ADHD so I feel like a lot of what she would have seen in me she would have considered at the time normal.

TLDR: Childhood signs for people who loved school growing up?

List I am taking to my psychologist appt!

I have an appointment with a psychologist tomorrow to talk to her about some issues. The issues I’ve been facing were most FINE (well not really, but it’s easier when you’re the only one dealing with it), when I realised my (4year) relationship was being affected because of me I figured it was time to do something about it. He’s a great guy who does so much for me. He’s very organised and does like cleaning etc which has probably helped him put up with me.

I want to know you guys’ thoughts on my list! I don’t think I’m going to give it to her but it will be good to have for reference as I’m very forgetful. I know none of this points to anything but they were just some things important to note.

Emotional outbursts in childhood? Sign of ADHD?

I’m wanting to get assessed for ADHD but honestly really struggle to remember my childhood. I never had anything traumatic and honestly had a good childhood. Although I do remember I was a very emotional child and prone to emotional outbursts where I would lock myself in my room. I would refuse to communicate to my parents in person and would write them notes while feeling super guilty. I’m wondering if any of this is relevant to anyone who is diagnosed with ADHD, is emotional outbursts from children frequent in those with ADHD? Added photo, this is one of many that were kept.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I am still like this in adulthood. I cannot communicate in person. I have to text otherwise I just can’t talk and if I do the wrong words come out. I could think in my head “Right I’m going to apologise now and finish this conversation.” But then I go on to insult/worsen the situation. 🫠

BPD

Did anyone else think they had BPD before being diagnosed with ADHD? Because of the impacts ADHD may have had on relationships

ADHD in the family

How many of your parent/s have ADHD? I’ve been starting to think I have some signs of ADHD, mainly because my mum was late diagnosed with ADHD and I see a lot of myself in her. Or is it possible I’ve just ‘learnt’ them off of my mum? What’s the likelihood to have ADHD if a direct family member has it?

JOB QUESTION

I currently have a casual job as a support worker, however I’m wanting to have another casual job to add additional hours. As in like a shift pool, where shifts are sent out and accepted or bidded on! Does anyone know any places like this? I’m in Tassie if this helps. Just so if I have a day off I can pick up a shift! TIA

Do I have ROCD?

The past year maybe I’ve been struggling with strong thoughts that my relationship isn’t right. For context, I’ve been with my (F 20) partner (M 21) for four years. In the beginning I did not have any of these thoughts that I can remember. My previous relationships, as a minor, all had a heavy focus on sex so I’m not sure if this is coming into it or not.

I obsess over practically every thing that could go wrong in our relationship. I tell myself I’m not attracted to him, that he isn’t enough for me, that I don’t love him and that I’m settling but in reality he is such a fantastic guy who gives me patience and loves me for who I am. When one small thing goes wrong, I end up spiraling and having these thoughts and I google obsessively trying to find reassurance or the ‘answers’. I get worried that because I’m staying him I’m hurting him because our relationship
‘Has to end’. When a friend came out to me and spoke to me about her situation ship with a girl I spiralled into thinking maybe I am lesbian? Or maybe I am bisexual and this relationship isn’t right for me because I’ve not been with a girl? My libido is lower than my partners which he has NEVER made me feel bad for, however I get in my head about this majorly and convince myself it’s because I don’t like him when this is not true and I don’t have a libido for anyone else either. My partners love language is physical touch and when I’m in my head about these thoughts I can’t even bare his touch on my leg or my arm. When I think about exciting things such as buying a house together and growing old together it is always shadowed by this obsession that we are not right for each other.

It’s been taking up my life. Sometimes when is not present in my life I feel myself feeling whole in myself and my relationship but as soon as I pick up that I’m not having those thoughts they come back. I’ve been to therapy before because I believed I had BPD, however I was told it was likely I had a combination of symptoms from a variety of disorders. Unsure if this is relevant. I would be resistant to going to therapy for this as I don’t want to hurt my partner by telling him I might have ROCD, although I know he wouldn’t pry if I told him I was going back to therapy.

I’m mainly just looking for advice or some tips maybe on how to calm this down. I don’t want to live feeling like I’m trapped in an invisible box I’ve made from unwanted thoughts. It is absolutely exhausting.
