How many ounces per day did your baby drink once starting solids?

my baby’s pediatrician told us that she should be eating 3 meals a day by 9 months so i’ve been slowly upping her solids intake. She also has said that she should be drinking 30oz of milk a day. Yesterday was the first day we’ve done two meals breakfast and lunch. She ate like half an egg for breakfast and almost a whole beef pouch for lunch. But the rest of the day i had SUCH a hard time getting her to drink her bottles. I didn’t track her ounces but she usually drinks about 6oz per feed and after lunch i had to fight to get even 4.5 in her. She basically skipped a whole bottle which puts her at 24oz for the day. Is this normal? i mean logically it makes sense she would be more full but it worries me so bad

What is your cleaning schedule like with an infant?

New mom to a 6 month old and it seems like all i can do to keep up with the basics like laundry dishes and picking up, when do you have time to actually clean? Like vacuuming, mopping, dusting etc. Especially if you are solo parenting and don’t get much help from spouse or other family.

False starts, early wakes, and random happy waking around 3am

My 6.5 month old has always had these problems and i really would like to start tackling it. Some nights she does fine and doesnt do these things but most nights we get all three.

Her bedtime is 8pm and she is fully sleep trained but she’ll wake up around 9 and fuss on and off every 30 minutes or so until 10 when she’s fully asleep. Then she’ll sleep until sometime around 3/4am when she’ll wake up happy as can be babbling and kicking, she’ll do this for around 30 minutes and then put herself back to sleep.

Around 5/5:30 she’ll wake up and start fussing or sometimes playing and at that point i know from trying in the past that there is no point in trying to get her back to sleep in her crib, if i try she’ll go back to sleep or try to for maybe 10 minutes and then repeat the process over and over. So i just bring her to bed with me and as soon as she gets in bed with me she goes right back to sleep and will sleep until i wake her at 7. If i didn’t wake her she’d sleep til 8/8:30 so i know she is definitely still sleepy when she’s waking that early.

I just last night started sleeping in the same room as my husband again (we had to sleep separately up to this point because he has a very physically demanding job with long hours and needs sleep) and i would like to be able to stay in bed with him instead of having to leave at 5 to sleep with my baby so id really appreciate advice on how to tackle this issue.

Our current schedule is 2.25/2.5/2.5/2.75
Her naps are usually 30 minutes a piece but ill hold
her for at least one so that it lengthens to around an hour, so typically 2 hours of daytime sleep.

Is mt-1 safe?

I’m thinking of starting peptides specifically mt-1 to tan, i have always used self tanner/tanning beds and would love to be able to achieve a deep natural tan. However I am a new mom with a 6 month old baby, i need to be healthy and safe for her and i don’t want to take risks, like if something were to happen to me while i was home alone with her. Has anyone had ANY bad experiences with mt-1 specifically? What are the dangers and where do i start?

CMPA baby starting solids, tried yogurt and now poop is weird

My CMPA baby is 6 months old and her pediatrician recommended we try to reintroduce dairy in the form of yogurt or cheeses. She has been on hypoallergenic formula since 2 months and ever since then her colic has completely gone away and she’s finally a very happy baby and has been for the last 4 months which makes me so scared to mess her up again. We tried yogurt twice this week and she loves it, she had no fussiness or symptoms of colic or being in pain. The only thing is this morning her stool was very different than normal. It was very very shiny and looked like slime. I’m assuming mucus from the dairy, my question is should we stop giving her dairy because of the change in stool even if she’s acting normally? I messaged her pediatrician but would appreciate other moms/parents input as well if you’ve been through it

moms of preemies, do you lean towards adjusted age or actual age for sleep/ schedules?

Asking as a mom to a just turned 6 month old who was born 4 weeks early, she meets all of her actual age milestones, wasn’t born super early, and overall acts like a 6 month old in my opinion.

The only thing is she still has pretty short wake windows, she gets fussy around the 1.75 or 2 hour mark, so i put her down for a nap at that time, but she doesn’t nap long and if we’re out and about for example or if we have visitors and she has a distraction she stays awake and is fine past the 2 hour mark, should i be pushing for longer wake windows closer to her actual age recommendation? or should i let her sleep when she starts to get fussy even if it’s been less than 2 hours?

according to her adjusted age it’s fine to not push it past 2 hours but according to her actual age i should try to keep her up a little longer. Asking for advice from people in similar situations, which age range did your baby do best with?

(right now our schedule is usually 1.75/2/2/2.5 if i do at least one longer contact nap or 1.75/2/2/2/2.5 if she naps in her crib only, we’ve successfully sleep trained nights and she usually sleeps from 8pm-7am without waking)

is it normal for grandma to be SO involved?

I need genuine advice/experiences. I grew up in foster care so i have no idea what’s normal / not normal in a family dynamic. I have a daughter who is about to be 6 months old, she’s staying with my boyfriends mother this weekend while we are out of town, she babysits often so i feel totally comfortable with her, she’s been a great help to us when we need a date night or a break and i appreciate her so much. However sometimes i feel like she’s treating my daughter like her own child, taking month by month pictures without asking me, buying new toys without asking me (like a jumper which i told her my baby isn’t ready for yet because it’s not good for her hips) and just overall being very very involved. Seems like a crazy thing to be annoyed at i know but like i said i have no clue whats normal and whats not. She just texted me saying that she bought a half birthday hat banner and outfit for my daughter and will be taking pictures this weekend when she has her. She said i can have them to take my own pictures when we’re back if i want. I mean the things she got are cute and im not upset she bought them but shouldn’t i be the one doing those things? Is it normal for grandma to make decisions like this?

(i know 6 months isn’t newborn but idk where else to post this)

when did you start crib naps only?

basically what the title says, what age did you start doing 100% crib naps? My daughter is 5 months and will nap in her crib but only for 30-45 mins which throws off our schedule and makes her need a nap like an hour before bedtime, when is it possible to do crib naps only but still have a decent schedule?

how to deal with baby who requires 100% of my attention

My baby is almost 5.5 months old, and she is sooo demanding, she doesn’t like any activity other than being carried around by me, and specifically me. her dad, grandma, anyone else who helps can’t do it, and i can’t put her down. I put her in her activity center or bouncer to go do something and she lasts maybe 90 seconds before she’s crying for me to come pick her up, and on days when i have to focus more on the house/chores or let my boyfriend help a lot with her she has full blown screaming meltdowns and has a super hard time at bedtime, she’s only happy if she has my undivided attention and touch for all awake time, this is obviously very hard and i’ve developed a huge cyst on my wrist and back problems from constantly carrying and walking around. our days consist of feeding, walking around, napping in her carrier also walking around. that’s another thing, she HATES being still even if she’s being held by me i can’t sit down or she cries. how do i work on this? it’s obviously very taxing

5 month old suddenly taking less milk, please help!

My daughter turns 5 months tomorrow and the last 3 feeds she has only taken 4 oz when she normally takes 5/6. it’s become a fight to even get 4 in her she turns her head into my armpit and slaps the bottle away after 2oz. She was preemie and is in the 11th percentile so this stresses me out to no end and i end up getting frustrated with her and trying to force the bottle. Has anyone else been through this? What is the solution?

wondering others experiences with sleep training a 20 week old, did you do cry it out? timed check ins? pick up put down? there are so many options it’s overwhelming trying to decide what is best. how did the method you chose affect your baby? i’m concerned about attachment issues with sleep training but i know it needs to happen for us and soon.

how to know if a wake is hunger vs just needing help back to sleep?

i posted about this last night but it got taken down due to the title so i’m reposting with different wording. my 19 week old has done a dream feed at 11 and one more night feed at 3am for about a month now. she wakes more often than that but usually i look at the time and its too close to a feed for it to be hunger so i put her paci back in and she usually falls right back asleep with maybe a little bit of stroking her head. The other night i was too tired to stay up til 11 for her dream feed so i just went to bed and decided next time she woke id feed her, that fell around midnight. so i fed her then went back to sleep myself, she woke around 3:30/4 like normal but in my half asleep state i didnt realize the time and i just put her paci back in and she fell asleep. it wasn’t until 6am when she woke that i noticed i never fed her. It was too close then to her wake for the day so i helped her back to sleep which didnt take long and went back to bed myself until her waking at 8. for the last few nights after that ive fed her once early in the night and then any wakes after that ive just replaced her pacifier and helped her back to sleep, she has some trouble falling back asleep sometimes after 5ish but its just grunting and a few minutes of help before she’s good. She does wake often after 4/5am but she never fully wakes and never cries out badly like she’s hungry, when she wakes for the day she’s in a good mood and doesn’t cry or act starving, she eats her first bottle about 30 minutes after waking. Is it bad for me to not feed her when she wakes? even if she’s waking often? Before when i’d do that 3am feed she always took a full bottle but i mean she seems fine without it and doesn’t act hungry, i don’t want to deprive her of food if she needs it but im also of course enjoying not having to do that feed so if she doesn’t need it then im going to continue to not give it. I plan to sleep train her soon so im hopeful that if she doesn’t actually need that feed maybe she’ll start sleeping through the night once she can fall back asleep without help.

Do i wait to sleep train?

I’m thinking about sleep training my 19 week old, but I’m going to be gone for one night in a week. My brothers wedding is in exactly one week and it’s 6 hours away so my baby will be with her grandma that night. Lately she’s been waking nearly every hour except for one stretch from 11-3, but when she wakes she just needs a pacifier replacement and some hand holding and she’s back asleep in a few seconds so i know she’s not waking for any specific reason. I don’t know if i should wait until i get back from the wedding or if i should start now? it’s saturday as im posting this and the wedding is next saturday, she will be spending the night at her grandmas house, she has a crib there and im bringing her sound machine owlet and all of her stuff from home to grandmas. We lived with grandma for the first 3 months of babys life so she knows the house and is used to her grandma, but we’ve been living on our own for about a month now so i wonder if it’s best to wait until we’re back at our own apartment to do it? Grandma is accustomed to her bedtime routine and will follow all the steps but i’m just worried about the change messing her up

I think my wake windows are wrong but i don’t know how to fix it

My baby is 18 weeks old, but she was born 4 weeks early, however she’s hitting her milestones on time and seems developmentally the same as her actual age, she’s just very small. The only thing is her wake windows seem very very short for her age. When she gets ready for a nap she really starts to fuss and complain and aggressively reaches for her paci when offered to her so i go by those cues when determining if shes ready for a nap, and it usually ends up being anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half, we had one 2 hour window but only once. Her naps are all over the place so we don’t really have much of a nap schedule however it’s usually an hour for her first wake window and an hour and a half for all after. I just feel like this is so short. This morning she started showing those cues only 45 minutes into her first wake window so i tried putting her down for a nap like normal and she protested very heavily until the hour mark when she finally fell asleep, she always takes her first nap in her crib and usually never has a problem with it but today she did. I soothed her without picking her up until she fell asleep but i hate doing that i feel like it’s so bad for her this young, however the first nap is very much needed for me to be able to get ready and eat breakfast. Am i confusing cues? Should i try to stretch her windows and if so how? Another thing to note is she’s recently started rolling back to belly and now all of her playtime is just her doing that and then crying cause she doesn’t want to be on her belly so i end up just lost as to what to do with her during her awake time

what even is sleep training?

My baby just turned 4 months and i’m starting to look into sleep training her, i do everything for her myself so for my own sanity i want to start soon, but im curious where to start? and what is the purpose? I know i haven’t even hit the notorious 4 month sleep regression so i could absolutely be eating my words soon but as of right now she falls asleep in her crib every night, no rocking, just a pacifier and a handhold. She has some false starts which are annoying but i just have to put her paci back in and she’s good to go. She goes to bed usually around 8:30, dream feed at 11, and wakes to eat around 3 and then wakes for the day at 7. Is she even a candidate for sleep training or would it not change anything?

should i roll with the catnaps or try to stick to schedule?

My baby is 16 weeks and has started to be a big time catnapper. I extended her wake windows a couple of days ago to 1.5/1.75 and she recently learned to roll to her side when sleeping which has been a game changer for crib naps. The last couple of days she has taken every nap in her bassinet and fallen asleep there on her own, so nice and has saved my back as before i was constantly baby wearing. However, the longest she’ll sleep in her bassinet is 50ish minutes and most naps are 30/40. Then she wakes up and gets really mad if i try to put her back to sleep so i end up just starting a new wake window. This results in her taking a ton of short naps through the day and really messes up her feeding schedule. Right now she eats at 8,11,2,5,8. She has to eat every 3 hours still because she was born at 4lbs so has a lot of catching up to do. My struggle is trying to balance her feeding schedule with her very unpredictable sleep. l feel like i could technically just roll with it and let her nap and be awake whenever she wants and then just feed her at the same times regardless of where we’re at in the wake window, but i dont know if that’s setting up bad habits or not.
