7 Colossai in

Heyo, so I decided that, I should play Shadow of the Colossus

(After failing to continue playing Ico)

And I have some thoughts

(That I need to rant about because idk anyone else in my circle that's played it.)

I'm 7 Colossai in, and....honestly the games really good.

I adore the designs so far, the world I genuinely have fun traversing, and just the atmosphere as a whole I really really love.

However I need to moan about somethings.

The controls I actually really love....outside Colossai combat.

The loose nature of it I really love.

But my god it's not fun to fight on Collosai, I really did not have fun with some fights

(Minotaur my beloved)

The way it feels like there's no control whatsoever sometimes sucks.

And thing is, I get why it's like that, I get the point of the controls, but the way Wanda stumbles or whole turns will go where I'll just fall off suck

(Probably a skill issue for most of it)

As well sometimes (and this is more of a skill issue)

It's hard to.solved the puzzles of the Collosai, I've had to use some walkthroughs because I can't figure out what it wants of me

(Although with the 3rd Collosai, I wanted to check to make sure I was on the right patch of thinking, funnily enough I figured it out...right as it killed me)(And for the 7th Colossai, my dumbass missed the clue of it)

But yea, it's a really good game, but man the controls (for fighting Colossai) just kick my teeth in

(Also I swear sometimes it just lets go of you for the funnsies of it)

Been reading some Kakeguri

(this is mainly a rant because I need to talk somewhere about this)

I've been reading Kakeguri for the past week now, taking my time.

And after finishing The Tower of Doors arc, I think Kakeguri might be in my top 5th favorite manga spot.

Like I'm still really early on, but I'm adoring it.

The characters are really fun, and the games themselves I adore.

(I used to play Cards with me mum growing up, so I have a major attachment to gambling kinda things)(That and I adore the aesthetics of a Casino to bits)

The arcs have been phenomenal, the back to back games against Yimemi, Kaede and Sayaka have been some of the most engaging games I've ever read.

And as well I find Yumeko fascinating as a "protagonist"

Her obsession with gambling for the sake of it leads to sole fascinating sections.

(Mainly the Indian Poker game and the entire duel against Kaede.)

And honestly, I sucks to have like 0 people to talk to it about. My partner and friends don't like it and just label it the "gooner anime"

Which....I can't entirely defend because....like I get it.

But I'll defend it somewhat*, mainly for the gambling aspect.

Mainly because like characters like Yumeko and Midiari are so absurd in the whole "getting turned on" for a game of cards, it wraps around to being extremely funny with the over the topness. (Still weird, like it gets to a point of like "woaw bucko". Although it's not bad in the manga, which makes me wonder how bad it is in the anime)

(([*] it's still like.....dude wtf it's weird. Like I'm not defending that, because yea it's icky and weird))

Also random ranking of the game arcs so far.

(There's a name for the arcs, but I'm going with just the games itself)

  1. Choice Poker + Tower of Doors

  2. Indian Poker

  3. ESP

  4. The Gameshow one (idr the name)

  5. Card Rock Paper Scissors

  6. The Memory Matching one

  7. The one against the cultural president

(I'm probably forgetting one)

Anyho, apologies for the rambling, Kakegurui is really good.

And love how the Tower of Doors arcs ends with a lesbian confession, we stan 🫡

And honestly is very safely goin on my 5th spot for favourite manga so far.

In the top 5 next to H×H and JoJo

When to read Prequel?

Heyo

So I'm 11 Chapters into Kakeguri and I'm adoring it.

And I've just learned there's a prequel focusing on Mary.

And I was wondering if I should wait until I catch up

(Which I did not know it was still ongoing, but heyo)

Or if there was a thematically appropriate time to switch from Kakeguri to Kakeguri Twin?

Thank ye :›

[LAHD] Thoughts on the dungeons+bosses?

I recently beat Links Awakening and really loved it.

Although my only complaint was the first few dungeons (up until the Face Shrine)

Are relatively easy.

And I found the bosses very underwhelming

(Mainly nightmare)

Although thr dialogue after each bosses defeat it's extremely good

(Like god the story is peak)

What do y'all think of the Dungeons and Bosses of LA

Just finished Short Story Long...after 2 years

So, yea.

I've had this book for about 2 years now.

And after finally reading it......ohhh I'm kicking myself majorly in the backside.

I really adored this Short story collection.

Anyway here's my thoughts on the stories.

Flames of Prometheus (8/10):

I really liked this one, seeing what happened to P-33 was extremely good.

And it becoming a massive ball of a hive mind I really liked.

YoRHa—VER. 1.05 (10/10):

It's really funny how long this story is compared to the other short stories. But I ain't complaining.

When I did a quick check and seeing that it was long, genuinely made me so happy.

I loved this story, actually seeing the Pearl Harbour descent was extremely good. And depressing Jesus Christ it hurt so so much.

I love all the No. And God the ending hurt.

Phenomenal

Memory Cage (7/10):

I liked it, not phenomenal, but still really enjoyed it. Although this is mainly set up for Memory Thorn.

Orbital Bunker Observation Diary (9/10):

This was extremely good. I love seeing more of this world and seeing all the Orbital Bunker crew is always a treat.

(I'm so happy to get 6O and 21O interactions. I adore the Operators)

((And the red girl foreshadowing was really good))

Small Flowers (7.5/10):

Short and sweet story, and idk about y'all but it made me tear up a bit)

A Much to Silent Sea (100/10):

So I already knew about the twist, that it was the moon and not the sea.

But what I wasn't expecting was how much I would ***adore*** 10H. I really loved her so much (she's so me frfr)

And oh my god that ending hurt, like her getting her memory erased like god damn.

Phenomenal and easily my favorite from this.

Memory Thorn (10/10):

God this was phenomenal and emotionally depressing.

Recollections of Emil (10/10):

So this is where I admit that I didn't fully finish all of Emils story like in the game.

(I've finished the Lunar Tear stuff, but I haven't done the rest...yet. I plan to.)

God I love Emil so much, like my poor boi suffered so so much. He needs a Curly Wurly and a hug damnit.

Also, yea I teared up heavily at the ending..it's so peak.

But yea, phenomenal book.

I really need to read more of DrakeNiers Novellas

Trouble replaying Replicant

This is more of a question than anything.

I'm trying to replay Replicant, and I'm having a small bit of a difficult time.

Mainly feeling slightly impatient.

Replicant is tied with Automata as my favorite game of all time but I'm struggling replaying it.

So I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem, or if it's a le skill issue on my part

(It also might be the fact that, I know I'm going to have to do a lot of tedious tasks throughout)

Just beat Earthbound Beginnings (Snes remake)

Just beat Earthbound Beginnings this morning.

And my god I adore this game.

This is my first proper Earthbound experience.

I've played a small bit of 3 but I decided I'd wait to play this and Earthbound proper before finishing the trilogy.

And what an experience.

First of, I adore this world, I love how the towns just feel like real life towns.

The aesthetics are top notch.

As well combat was really good, difficult (oh dear got Mt. Itoi was a pain to get through) but fun enough.

As well I like our main party. The scene where Ninten and Ana have their dance made me tear up slightly, it's so sweet and honestly love them.

The story is alright.

I personally don't think it's **the** best RPG story I've played through, but I still loved it.

Well, even in saying that, the final battle against Giygas I adore.

Something about the power of song being the thing to defeat him I adore so so much. And his whole speech he gives is phenomenal.

(Also as well, having his fight just be a black background threw me off)(Very much in a good way)

I'm excited to see how we get from here to the "embodiment of evil incarnate" we see in Earthbound.

Overall I had a lot of fun.

I think overall I'd give it a 8/10

(Honestly the Aesthetics are pushing it up a point, because God damn I adore it so so so much.)

Half way...ish through Ghost

I've been slowly but surely going through Ghosts discography.

And needless to say I've been adoring it.

So just wanted to make a quick tier list of the albums and ep I've listened through

(I missed the 2 other EPs so far, which mad at myself for missing but eh, what can you do.)

The overarching story I've been enjoying as well.

Although for me, I've been having a bit of a difficult time piecing together the lore...just from the albums and songs themselves.

I will be doing some external research to get the full picture for lore

(Mainly about the Papas, because dead ass I forgot that there were different Papas)

But yea

Good stuff

Life post Solstice

It's been 6 days since finishing Solstice

And I haven't stopped thinking about this damned game.

Before I don't think I could ever say I had a game that truly has a life changing effect on me.

(Closest would be the DrakeNieR series, but it isn't anything close to this.)

Where here, feel like there's a new life split.

The more I think the more and more I adore this game.

It genuinely is my favourite story in all of fiction (next to NieR Replicant).

And it honestly hurts that I can't replay it, like I could, it's possible. But without Niko it just doesn't feel right.

Niko feels so much like a son* to me, like yea Niko is just a collection of pixels on a laptop, but those pixels feel so close to me ya know).

And every time I see art I get a lil sad, but still happy ya know

Idk I'm just rambling, but it's just been on my mind alot.

(*Also, the only reason I'm calling Niko son, is solely (and I do mean solely) because of a video called "Fontaine" and the way he says "*son*" just infected my mind)

Finished One Show WME

As of now

I've just beaten World Machine Edition

And oh...my...god

Fuuuuuck this game

In all my life I've never felt maternal over a video game character.

But now I can say I have.

I adore this game, the story might possibly be one of my favourites

(I mean, a world that was simulated so the last residents of a dying world can escape into only for them to need to use a real being to power it, causing the ai inside to spiral as it doesn't want to harm anyone causing it to spiral further and further is a concept I adore.)(And the way Niko saves it giving everyone a happy ending just....oh it hit haaaard)

I adore Niko, they are my child

I'm not ashamed (maybe I should be but, does it really matter?) to say that I hugged my rinky dink laptop, because seeing this kid cry or be in any dangerous situation makes me sad. And the conversations you have with Niko just made me love the kid even more

(Don't even get me started on the conversation you have in the Library during Solstice)

The writing I adore and the side cast are phenomenal.

(My favourite characters (outside of Niko, The WM and Cedric) being the siblings Calamus and Alula)

The music as well I adored.

It may not be my favourite ost to ever grace my ears, but it's in the higher echelons of it.

Even knowing the end choice of the base game

(Return Sun/Break Sun)

It still hit

And I was ***not*** prepared at all for Solstice.

Much like Niko

I'm not going to be forgetting this world for a long...long time

u/OnestOfNerds — 3 months ago

Clarification about the WM

Heyo,

So I've been playing through Solstice, and I'm a bit confused.

I think I got the gist of it, but essentially want clarification.

The World Machine was made by the author as another world to hop into (essentially) once their world died.

But it needed a person to help run it, so the author used itself

It was curious and messed around, and things went sideways quickly.

Niko was brought in to help because npcs are bones if they touch the squares.

And the world we're running is a simulation, that can only run since we have to opened

I'm pretty sure that's it

(In terms of the machine world itself)

I've probably missed something so that's why I'm asking

Question about a certain plan (Chapter 413)

So. Maybe I'm dumb

(Probably that)

But I don't remember if we ever got the explanation of how Benjamins Nen Beast works?

And how killing him will make him ascend?

I get Furykovs ability, which "Fullmetal Alchemist" you ain't slick with that one Togashi)

Just don't get the Ascend part?

(I also just woke up from a nap to read this, so maybe I'm Le dumb)

Just finished KH2

Just finished Kingdom Hearts 2

And I really love this game.

The ending made me tear up like no tomorrow

(Its now twice that I've cried at Sanctuary)

The story is...I really like it

It is a lot, and for me anyway I found myself getting lost sometimes

(Although keep in mind I did take a small break during it to play another game)(The next chapter of it was coming out soon)

But even then I still really like it.

I adore Originzation XIII so much.

The concept of a Nobody is already so so peak, but going through each member to get to Xenmas was so good.

Characters as well are amazing, Sora is fun as always and his reunion with Riku just made me light up with a smile

(Especially the final fight and ending, god damn ITS SO GOOD)

The worlds I really like. Idk if it's a hot take or no to say I prefer these worlds over KH1s worlds

(Although I do kinda prefer how KH1 did Agrabah making it feel like a dungeon crawler, where as in KH2, it's sort of meh, not bad but I prefer it)

My favorite worlds has to be

- Twilight Town

- Space Paranoids (although the music for it kinda sucked)(especially the enemy battle music)

- The World that Never Was

I really enjoyed my time, and I'm really excited to see where it continues.

9/10

(Also because why no, here's my individual thoughts on each world. My thoughts lump the 2nd travel as well)

Fake Twilight Town:

Good opening, I adore Roxas in it

Proper Twilight Town:

I adore it, it's very cozy and I adore the ost for it

Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden:

The Radiant Garden reveal hit so much, genuinely it's so peak.

As well I adore the battle of 1,000 shadows.

The ost of the world somehow is better than KH1s ost for it.

Land of Dragons:

It was alright, I like Mulan (the film) well enough so it wasn't too bad.

Bosses were fun

Beasts Castle:

Really good, solid world. Nice to see the Beast again

Olympus Coliseum:

I'm so so SO happy that this world got more than just the coliseum.

I adore this world, I love Auron, Hades is always fun as always.

And the story of its neat

Disney Castle:

Feels too small, but I love the world, pat is really fun.

Timeless River:

The mini games themselves were lame as hell, but god damn I love the aesthetics of it. I love how Sora looks, and having both Petes fight was a dream

Port Royal:

It was good, I like Pirates so it was fun running through the world

(Although god damn the 2nd run through was kinda lame)(Not Luxord, I love him)

Agrabah:

Good, I do prefer the Cave of Wonders from KH1 though, but I like it.

Bosses were much better here then in KH1

Halloween Town/Christmas Town:

Outside of the lame Oogie Boogie fight. I really like this world

(Except those god damned box enemies they can suck one)

The Pride Lands:

Eh, it's just alright, I like Lion Soras movements. The boss on the 2nd run through was so fun though.

Space Paranoids:

Outside the god awful enemy battle ost, I really love it. Tron was my childhood so it was fun to revisit it

(I really need to rewatch Tron, last time I watched it I was like 12)

The World that Never Was:

God I adore this world,

Ost = Peak

The Aesthetics of the world = Peak

Story here = peak

Conclusion = Peak

(And lastly the ones that aren't technically mandatory)

Hundred Acre Wood:

Just charming, a retread of KH1s Acre Woods but it works

Atlantica:

I really wish I just came here when I got everything, the constant back and forth just get tiring.

Its fun enough ig, I'm happy to have a world that I'm not fighting through.(Which oh my god thank fuck I hated KH1 worlds so so so so so so so so so much)

((Also if you've read through this fully. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days is my favorite story so far, I will play through it(since the collection is the movie edit). But god damn the story is so good and Sanctuary kicking in at the end is so so peak))
