Dumb question about the transmission (4l60)

So my transmission on my ‘93 Cheyenne won’t go out of third when driving. I also have to manually shift it into first and then bring it down into drive or it jumps into third from idle. A rebuild is gonna cost nearly 2 grand which is almost my whole paycheck.

Ok so in theory, would it be safe to drive if I stayed the correct speed for third gear? (35-45mph). I don’t need it to go on a highway, it’s more so for backroads around where I live.

I feel l like if this is the case then more people would do it, and I’ve never heard of someone doing this, so I thought I’d ask.

I hate Mississippi (I live here)

There is NOTHING HERE. I’ve lived here my whole life and it sucks. Does it have it’s perks? Yeah it does, real quiet most places, I live in nature and we have clear air and very little light/noise pollution, that’s not everything either.

Other than that? Fuck this place. I’m very lonely, I have a small handful of friends and most of them we’re friends because we grew up together and live close by, we don’t really have much in common. All the advice you hear about being lonely? Forget it, there are no clubs or anything like that, “third spaces” I think people call them. There’s your house, and there’s your job, and Walmart if you drive half an hour. Also I just don’t jive with anyone here, they’re all into the same stuff. Hunting, college football, and beer. Now I love beer, but they make alcoholism their whole personality. I can’t form real friendships, just inebriated social interactions with people that wouldn’t care about me if we weren’t hammered.

It’s just terrible. I go to work and come home and that’s it because there’s just nothing here. I doubt I ever get married or anything like that because I’m just a square peg here. Also it’s hot, all the time, and everyone is pro trump and drive ugly ass trucks with shiny wheels, and everyone is just hateful, our logo is fucking sick though, best state logo. It’s on the second slide look at it. Also the gulf coast isn’t bad I like it there.

What’s the cheapest possible thing I can do to this

The muffler broke off it was rusted so bad so I cut everything off. I’ve never had carbon monoxide poisoning and I’d like to keep it that way so I’m looking for what I can do to this pipe. Could I just put a downturn on it or is it too close to the fuel tank?

I HATE Raising Canes

Will I eat there? Yeah, the food isn’t terrible it’s just heavily overrated. Every upper middle class person I know acts like Cane’s is this superior establishment. They talk about it like you get to eat your meal with Jesus when you go to Cane’s.

First time I went was after my friend had been glazing it, and it sucked. The chicken was like wet? And the breading kept falling off, and the fries were shit, no seasoning at all, on the fries or the chicken. The toast was good as fuck no complaints there. I was comparing it to Zaxby’s and when I told my friend it was better he started belittling me like I was a lesser being (we were like 14 I’m not pressed about this)

It’s just so overrated. Like I said before this is upper middle class people food. Also I think they’re pushed by the elite or something to keep us fat and docile because the people I see that are always glazing canes are like the ideal person for a capitalist oligarchy. Like the perfect consumer. Idk how to word it correctly that’s the best I can do. Anyway Canes sells underseasoned chicken with sauce as their excuse and they’re probably a psyop.

I 20m have no idea what I want to do with my life

Nothing makes me really enjoy life. I feel like another cog in the machine anymore. During college I commuted mostly (in the dorm for 1 year) and life was so boring. Go to like my one class and then come home (this was a juco btw), I felt like a guy with a cup begging for change, going around seeing what all my friends were up to just so I’d have something to do.

I worked odd jobs during school and those sucked too. But I didn’t expect to feel like I found my calling by pulling nails and painting walls. I just kept waiting and hoping that after college life would improve.

I can’t tell if it’s better or worse. I got a job with the forest service and I make decent money for a 20 year old that lives with his parents, but it’s so draining. I go to work, sit at a desk, and come home. I don’t even do much work, I watched like 4 full episodes of better call saul one day while I was there. They told me beforehand that it was a lot of doing nothing and on paper it sounded like easy money but it’s draining me somehow. I go back and forth to this place and then get 2 days to be free then it repeats.

I don’t know what I want. I hear people say all the time that they didn’t know what to do with their life until they were in their 30’s. I don’t to waste 10 years of my life being unhappy. I have no idea how to make life enjoyable. I have hobbies and when I get home I feel indifferent to them. I’m always so tired and drained with everything and idk what to do.

93 and 95 transmission not directly interchangeable. How true is this?

For context I bought a ‘93 about 2 months ago and it won’t shift into 3rd, it just stays in 2nd. Also I have to manually shift to 1st then put it in drive or else it jumps to 3rd and that would be bad.

I have a 95 that I totaled shortly after getting the transmission rebuilt. I know I can’t just drop the transmission into my 93 but are there at least some parts of it that are interchangeable? I don’t have $1800 for a full rebuild.

I hate the advice people give on loneliness

I’ve felt isolated for years. I have friends but I still feel alone around them. I always feel either unwelcome or unaccepted. Rarely it doesn’t feel that way but more often than not I feel like I don’t really matter.

I live in a rural area and it’s always the same case when I meet someone new, we have nothing in common besides a few surface level interests. I only talk to like 2 people from my school. Colllege friends? I’m dead to them. When I reach out to someone it’s always so one sided, like they’re just waiting for me to go away.

There’s just nobody I mesh with really, and then I have all these people telling me one of two things: A, join a club, or B, I hate myself. That’s it. There are no clubs around here because no one has interests besides using substances and watching college football. Hell if I told someone I was in a club they’d bully me for it (not that that’s a reason not to be in one).

As for the hating myself thing, I don’t think I hate myself. If I hate myself then why do I want good in my life? Also it’s not like I’m telling myself everyone hates me, I’m making actual observations on behaviors. I’m just a complete reject it seems. I don’t hate people for it, I just wish they were more like me.

I regret choosing to be myself

Especially in recent years I’ve been being more unapologetically me. I don’t wear whatever’s in style, I listen to whatever music I want, my own opinions and whatnot. If someone gives me shit for being different I brush it off.

I wish I hadn’t, I’m so lonely. I see all these people out and about that dress the same and like the same stuff that’s popular, and I used to be proud to me my own person and not follow the status quo. But all these people are so content, I have this friend who wears whatever is popular and never forms his own ideas or beliefs and just goes by whatever he sees most. There’s probably like 20 guys within 30 minutes of my house that are indistinguishable from him, but he’s so much happier than me.

I wish I had listened to my bullies. I had a chance to conform and not be an outcast and I missed it. The worst part is I don’t fit in with like the “alternative” crowd. I’m in like this weird limbo state it seems where I can’t meet anyone like me.

It just isn’t worth it. I chose to be myself and didn’t let others decide what I should do in life, so what? I’d rather have people want me in their life. Those 20 guys that are all alike? They’ll all have families in the next 5 years, they’ll find their people, while I don’t even have people out there.

Am lonely. Beer.

I live in the middle of nowhere, so there’s few people. I want to get married someday but that seems like something not meant for me at this point.

I went to the city where my sister lives and it made things worse. There’s SO many people here and none of their lives would be any better knowing me. I see a woman and they’re always with someone, or they can afford to avoid me.

It’s not gonna get better, I’ve done as I’m told and it didn’t change a thing. I like beer though, I’ve been drinking for about 3 years and can keep it under control. I only drink about once or twice a month and just have a few. Those few moments where my worries are filtered out from my psyche are worth every sip.

Walt is a fucking DORK

I know this isn’t new information that no one has noticed, but I haven’t watched the show since 2024 I wanna say? Anyway it’s been a while.

But this go around I’m noticing what a damn goober he is. Like before I watched the show I had seen all the posters and thought he was this mean intimidating guy who had been in the drug business for a long time and I saw all the promo pictures of him and jesse in full lab gear and always saw him as this serious menacing guy.

When I first watched the show I thought he was dorky but as it went on he was scarier, but really he stays a dork from beginning to end, even in Ozymandias when he’s rolling his money through the desert, DORK.

I’m watching s4e2 right now and he’s got his little gun and is practicing his draw from sitting in front of an empty chair, and he keeps talking to Gus like he isn’t a damn drug lord. Also him constantly being controlling and angry over everything isn’t menacing he just reminds me of like a high school boyfriend.

Once again, old news, but all of this is really weighing on me this rewatch.

How do I accept being unattractive?

I wouldn’t even say I’m ugly, I’m just unattractive. My friend is very handsome and he gets all this attention from people, I’m mainly referring to women but guys are always wanting to be his friend too. Like if we’re at a party he always has some form of success with women. He’s very tall and thin and has good facial structure and full facial hair. He doesn’t even have to try.

I hear all this shit all the time about how looks aren’t as important as I make them out to be but it’s just lies that even the people telling it believe. I get treated like I’m some creature, if I approach a girl they give me every social cue that says “fuck off” in the book, and the girls that approach me? They don’t.

There’s nothing I can really do. I’ve tried being more social and it just caused me to meet more people that want nothing to do with me. It’s been this way forever, people just don’t want to know me. In school I had one good thing going for me and it was being funny, I always told myself that people liked me because of it but the truth is they viewed me as entertainment. I never hear from anyone, when I try talking to them they don’t seem to care.

How do I live with this? I’m tired of having hope that things can turn around, but I also don’t want to have this doomer mindset. I just want to be removed from my feelings completely and be numb to them.

I took the light off, was it the right call?

It’s an old game warden truck. I had one just like it in high school and totaled it so I snagged this one off marketplace. The original one didn’t have the light so I took it off. If you don’t think it looks good that’s fine I just like talking about gmt400s

93 Cheyenne won’t shift past 2nd.

Also it’s a 4l60e I forgot to say that

I have to put it in first manually and then put it in drive but after that it stays in second and won’t keep shifting. I had taken it to a service center to get some leaks and idle issues fixed, and cooling issues (she’s a fixer), and the mechanic said he doesn’t do transmission work.

Anyway, what could it be? I do not have the funds for a rebuild right now. Someone told me something about it maybe being a shift valve, he had the exact same issue.

I hate how text messages are depicted in media (during stressful situations in particular)

This shot is from Breaking Bad in particular but I’ve seen it in other movies and TV shows. They’ll be in a very tense situation and the text messages they send always will have punctuation or be in all caps (both in my example). In this scene Skyler (Walter White’s wife) is in labor, and texts him like this. I’ve never given birth and probably never will (I am a male), but I don’t think I would be worried about emphasizing how urgent something is when I’m in a bad situation.

Is this nitpicky? Yeah but the sub isn’t called “ihatethissmugforgoodreasons”. It just irks me, also Breaking Bad is known for getting very detailed and then they do this. Maybe they texted like this in ‘08 idk I was a toddler then.

I think that being shy isn’t just a personality trait but a flaw (I am shy)

Like I think there needs to be classes in schools to prevent kids from becoming shy and being more outgoing. My dad tried to correct me from becoming shy when I was young and I took it as a personal attack so I didn’t change, and I wish I had.

There were a few people I went to school with that were even more shy than I am and they pissed me off. They’d just sit and say nothing all of class and not contribute to anything, hell I was the same way a lot of the time. I could make the class laugh and that was it, I was just entertainment to everyone.

Anyway, my life so far has been compromised by the fact that I’m shy. I have few friends and no one really acknowledges my existence. Girlfriends? Forget it, I’ve had one girlfriend in the 20 years I’ve lived while other people have been in like 3 or 4 relationships. I always tell myself I’m cursed but I know the real reason.

And it’s not like once you’re shy you’re stuck that way, but it becomes 100x harder to get out of your shell once you’re my age. Little kids don’t understand judgement, they just go up to each other and speak. I can’t do that, I go up to someone now and about 20 negative outcomes pop in my head of how the situation could go, and it has to go perfect or else they won’t like me (if this is a first impression)

I just see it everywhere. People acting like shyness is just some okay way to be. Now if you just don’t like people, or have a low social battery, that’s fine, and not really what I’m talking about, but people not being able to start a conversation is a problem that needs to be nipped in the bud, so that future generations won’t end up like me.

I wish I was normal

I was at this little local concert, and was people watching. Everyone dressed the same, dancing to the most watered down music imaginable, laughing at the same unoriginal jokes.

I’ve always been glad to be different. I don’t mean that in like a performative way or that I’m better than anyone, but I’m like a one in a million person it seems like, especially in the deep south (where I live).

I’ve been thinking, and I wish I was just a normal run of the mill human being, like an NPC. They’re happier than me, and actually have sense of belonging. They meet friends and find love and get to have families, I can’t, I was made improper. That matters to me more than individuality. Who cares if I’m remembered when I’m gone? I’m unhappy while I’m here, that’s what matters.

I hate people that think they’re above seatbelts

I have a friend who just will not wear a seatbelt and cannot see the logic behind wearing one. They have the mindset that since they’ve never wrecked that there’s no need to wear one. I’ve also heard the statement that they’re “uncomfortable”, grow the fuck up.

Also if I get pulled over and my friend is unbuckled, it’s on ME, and I tell him this and he insists that I’m not gonna get pulled over and if there’s a cop he’ll just put it on real quick (I have no window tint).

I learned the hard way, I got turned into a cruise missile and could have killed another friend of mine. My friend also bugs me for wearing one when he’s driving, he says I don’t trust his driving like he’s the only one on the road capable of causing an accident.

Now he WILL put it on if I make him, but just the concept of thinking that no harm could ever come to you and to just go about willy nilly, then thinking you’re BETTER than sensible people, it UNNERVES me.

Peavey 110, is it good?

I’m looking to get into bass and I need an amp that isn’t 500 dollars. I found a Peavey 110 for $150 and I don’t really know that much about amps. It SEEMS like a good deal given that a new one is over $200.
