Penrith highland festival today! What are the vibes?

Ive been looking forward to this for MONTHS but something has come up and there's a chance I won't make it.

What are the vibes? How is it?

I don't have social media other than reddit so I have no idea what's going on there!!

Could my 9-year-old have Kallmann Syndrome?

Ive only just discovered in the last month that he has no sense of smell. Ive tested a few things (a stinky nappy, perfume, foods) and nope, nothing.

He has a very bland palate (a beige diet) which i put it down to his Autism Level 2.

He was diagnosed with Global Development Delays with the diagnosis ending when he turned 7. with all the therapies we've sent him too, he is now a low average student (which im totally happy with!).

When Monday comes, I'll book an appointment with the ENT but is there anyone else I should seek advice from?

I know this is too early to tell since hes not going through puberty but wanted to ask, were there any suspicion of KS when you were 9? What other symptoms did you have?

Which primary school would you choose for your daughter?

I’m really struggling with this decision and would love to hear from parents who have been in a similar situation.

School 1:

- My son currently attends this school, although he’ll be in high school by the time my daughter starts.

- I’ve loved the school community and feel very comfortable with the school.

- I’ve also had four nieces and nephews attend and they all had good experiences.

- It would be on the way to my sons high school, which would make drop-offs and pick-ups easier.

- It’s about a 7-minute drive from home.

School 2:

- I don’t know anyone who has attended this school, so I have no real idea what the school community is like.

- It’s in the opposite direction to my sons high school.

- There are around 2-3 kids on our street who will likely attend this school. We aren’t particularly close with their families, but they seem lovely and very family-oriented.

- I can imagine the girls becoming friends and having that lovely neighbourhood dynamic where they knock on each other’s doors after school to hang out.

- It’s only about a 4-minute drive from home, although it would be too far to realistically walk.

My dilemma:

My gut is telling me to choose School 1 because I know and trust the school, I’ve had such a positive experience with it, and the logistics would be much easier with my son’s high school.

But I keep thinking about the potential friendships on our street.

If my daughter goes to School 1 while the other girls go to School 2, I worry she might miss out on becoming part of their little friendship group. She could obviously still play with them after school, but I wonder whether she might eventually feel like the odd one out when they start having their own school friends and school activities.

On the other hand, maybe I’m overthinking this and kids are perfectly capable of having close neighbourhood friends who attend different schools?

Have you been in this situation? What did you do?

And particularly, if you were the kid who didn’t go to the local school while most of the kids on your street did - did it actually hinder your friendships with them, or did you still spend plenty of time together?

Where to donate a big box of books?

Hey. Doing a big decluttering at home. Where can I donate books that I no longer need?

It'd be sad to bin them.

I doubt the library will take them as they usually have a sale of their own books out the entry front in order to rotate new books through.

Why can I add pictures to my posts in r/breastfeeding?

I'm trying to add a picture to one of my posts in this sub and it's greyed out.

I can add pictures to my other communities tho.

What the reasoning for this? Is it to stop creeps coming in and having a look??

How much was your granny flat build?

I'm looking to know how much was your total granny flat build inc landscaping ( if you had it inc) and the concrete slab etc. A rough breakdown would be even better!

Could you also share how many rooms you chose to have?

I have an elderly parent I'm planning to place in the granny flat but need to get my finances sorted to fund this.

I'm in the Raymomd Terrace area.

Thank you.

Staying up to date with fashion

How do you stay up to date with your fashion preference? Magazines? Online? Youtubers?

I'm a bit out of date these days and currently stuck wearing big w and kmart basics as im closing in to 40.

i want to update my fashion but have no idea where to start? Do fashion magazines still exist? I think i would like that.

I like the casual surfie look and some edgy rock chick.

Paid parental leave - how much in your account?

Just trying to do some budgeting to the $$.

Would be appreciated if you can share the amount that you get in your account each fortnight. I know it can vary depending on your tax rate but just need a figure I can work around.

Thank you

Dog's vigorous licking

What does this vigorous licking of our dogs mean?

The light brown one is around 12 years old.

The dark brown one is 1 year old.

They do this several times a day. Usually after a play session.

How were you paid your Paid Parental Leave?

Hi all,

I checked my payslip as I'm due for my first Paid Parental Leave (the government one) this coming Thursday. It said $0.......

I checked centrelink and it said the payment was sent to my department for payment on Thursday.

Is there a possibility that my department has missed the centrelink payment that they should be paying me?

Ive emailed payroll but that will take about 3 days for them to get back to me. Will try call tomorrow.

Im nervous we won't have the income arrive on the Thursday as expected.

Have any of you had any issues or confusion when trying to get your PPL from your department?
