Hey Everyone, I'm a 1st year student and have CMN279 Asynchronously online. Every week my teacher closes the weekly-material and makes it inaccessible. I have the mid-term coming up and feel like I don't have enough study material and that I'm falling behind in it. Does anyone have any advice for the mid-term or any place I can find some material to study for it?

Also, if anyone had it asynchronously before, did you also have 2 response papers that you have to write worth 15% of your grade each? I'm required to write a response paper based on a week's lecture, but the teacher did not provide any format or anything to write it, I did email her, but I'd love to hear some advice from someone who wrote one before, thank you!

Hello, I'm an arab born and raised in the west, I recently travelled back home and had trouble communicating with my family due to my inability to speak Arabic. I can understand it ~90% of the time in a Yemeni Dialect, but I just struggle to string together the words to respond.

I know this question has been asked a million times, but I have no one to practice with and I plan on visiting again next year. I really want to be able to communicate with my family there, especially my grandparent who's getting old and doesn't know English at all.

What is the most optimal way for me to learn how to speak Arabic within a year or less. I think this would be doable since I understand a lot, I just can't articulate sentences. I'm not worried about reading or writing for now I just want to be able to communicate, Thanks!

Hi all, I was wondering; how much is a first-year summer internship matter in the grand scheme of things if you’re planning on applying for BTM coop later on. Reason I ask is I’m wondering is if you had the option between trying to obtain one ( obviously not guaranteed) or travelling for the summer, what would you choose?

On another note, Since first year summer internships are hard to get to begin with, is participating in related clubs, events, networking, having a partime job throughout the year, and keeping a good GPA all enough leading into your second year to be with or ahead of the curve?

What is the most effective way for someone (me) to transfer my listening skills to actually speaking and having conversations. I can almost fully understand yemeni dialect arabic but when it comes to speaking, I can’t put sentences together or find the words I’m looking for, even if I know them.

I’m not too worried in writing or reading as of now, and just want to improve conversational skills to communicate with family. Any advice / plan would help, thanks!

Hello everyone. I’m An Arab who grew up in the west. I can listen to and understand Arabic well, especially Yemeni dialect as that’s my ethnicity, but I’m not able to speak it that good. Hello everyone, I got my ENG4U done last week and immediately requested final report-card + send to OUAC, they told me it'd be 1-3 business days, but it still hasn't arrived on my OUAC marks page. Today is the last day if I'm not correct and OUAC will send grades to unis, so I'm just wondering what I can do. I just sent a email to OUAC and OVS, and I do have OVS added on my education page, and they also added my mid-term before.

Will I be good or should i start contacting the university? thanks.

No matter how much hours of sleep I get, consistent 8~ Hours 10pm - 6am, I naturally have slightly dark eye bags, and tired lines around my eyes.

Does anyone have any recommendations to solve this? I've seen people say filler, but tbh I'm broke, and not trying to do anything like that to begin with. If theirs anything I could naturally do beside sleep, sleep, and sleep, let me know, thanks!

Hi; I'm going into my 1st year at BBA in the coming fall, and I just saw my schedule:

I have BU111 With David Swatson at 8:30 Am. I've seen that you're allowed to go to different lecture times and different profs, but will I miss anything by going to a different prof? I've heard that Sofy is a 'better' teacher then Swatson from other reddit posts, but I'm just wondering if I'm going to be ahead/behind on content if I go to a different professor then my assigned one? I'll try going to both when the year starts but I'm just wondering. Also does anyone know what time the other lectures for bu111 are? 8:30 Am is pretty early compared to the lab time I have.

Also, is bu127 with Allan Forester good? or is there any other prof's lecture I should go to?

Hey, I know this sounds dumb, but I didn't apply for 1st year guaranteed Res by june 1st as I was still deciding between commuting, off-campus, or a dorm.

Should I apply late if possible and pay the $600 risking non-guaranteed res, or should I get an off-campus housing with WOCH.

The reason why I was originally hesitant for a dorm is because of it's high price and chance to not get a single bedroom, which I'd really prefer.

The off-campus housing is like $650-750 a month, and a 15-minute walk to campus.

Should I just take the off-campus housing or apply for the Res, and if I receive a housing offer I don't like or if I don't get in, just commute for the year.

Hi! could anyone please tell me generally how much the 1st year at Laurier BBA costs, assuming regular course load and residency as well. Imagine I didn't receive any scholarships, I just want the closest estimate to a pure rough number I could get. I'm trying to budget for a semi-private traditional dorm or an apartment dorm ideally, as those are my 2 choices.

any help would be greatly appreciated since today's the last day and I'm trying to calculate if I can really afford a dorm or if I'd have to commute, thanks!
