Hypothetical: How would Snape treat Harry if Lily was alive?

Trying to figure out Snape’s real values. 👀

Snape doesn’t face any negative consequences from Lily when being hostile to her son, because she’s dead. Would he act differently if she was alive?

The hypotheticals below forces him into a dilemma: - respect Lily and treat Harry right,
- or treat Harry wrong and disrespect Lily.

Note: Of course we need to pretend that Lily don’t mind seeing Snape, and that Snape is oblivious to the fact that she’s changed her mind on that point. Otherwise he’d be in a position to take advantage of her, and that’s not the goal to find out here.

————

Hypothetical 1:

Lily is alive, Harry is 10 years old living with her. James is not present. Somehow, Snape is hanging out with Lily on the regular. How do you think Snape would treat Harry?

a) Be hostile to Harry like usual in front of Lily
b) Be hostile to Harry behind Lily’s back
c) Be neutral to Harry strategically to win Lily’s respect
d) Be neutral to Harry out of respect for Lily

————-

Hypothetical 2:

Snape is teaching 11 year old Harry at Hogwarts. Lily is alive. How do you think Snape would treat Harry?

a) Be hostile to Harry out of spite like usual
b) Be neutral to Harry strategically to gain Lily’s trust and respect
c) Be neutral to Harry out of pure respect for Lily

————

Question:

If Lily was alive with a 10 year old Harry on her side, James is not present, do you think Snape would ever even take the opportunity to hang out with Lily?

Yes or no?

If not, what would be his reason not to hang out with Lily?

a) He couldn’t stand Harry
b) He wouldn’t be able to refrain himself from being hostile to Harry — which he doesn’t want Lily to experience
c) He’s not interested for other reasons (what reasons?)

Would you be comfortable having a friend date your sibling?

(Okay, first of all, I don’t have siblings so I genuinely do not have a good frame of reference. I guess the closest thing to siblings I have are my cousins, but it’s not the same. Secondly, I’m not interested in my friends’ siblings, so I’m not fishing for moral agreement, if that matters to your answer.)

I have come across the phenomenon where people wouldn’t want their friends to date their sibling, but also the phenomenon where they’re okay with it. Once I had it suggested to me I’d make a good pair with her brother which I took as a compliment since it shows she trusts me.

I don’t have a strict opinion on the matter, because I guess it depends, but I’m curious as to what your stand is? Would you feel comfortable having a friend date your sibling?

What’s the ISTP/INFP dynamic like for you guys?

I am an INFP, and I once had a short relationship with an ISTP. And I wanted to see your perspective on the unlikely ISTP/INFP dynamic.

Personally I found it to be a surprisingly positive dynamic in some aspects, which I didn't expect. And I want to know if you have ever felt the same towards an INFP.

So, here's the thing. I felt like his almost detached physical presence sort of forced me to ground myself. Because usually, as an INFP, I'm constantly living in my own head, toying around with hypotheticals, trying to manage mine and others' emotions, trying to keep peace, trying to manage social interactions, making sure that everyone are heard, and stuff like that. But with this ISTP, I was forced out of that habit.

And I guess I felt like there was both relaxation and confusion in that feeling. I really didn't know what to do with myself, but at the same time, it felt freeing.

Freeing because I got to see things from another perspective and I got to experience another nervous system state. (I think it has to do partly with mirror neurons? Like when you see the others physical state and you kind of get influenced by it.)

Anyway, I'm wondering what experiences you've had with INFPs. Have you ever had anything positive come out of that experience or no? And if yes, what was it?

SX-instinct; what do you count as vulnerability? Do all of you want that?

So I often see SX-dominants and SX-seconds on here saying that they want vulnerability in connections. And I’ve read descriptions of the SX-instinct and it seems vulnerability is definitely part of it - just not all of it.

As an INFP 946 sp/so I get the sentiment, though I suspect my motives for sometimes wanting vulnerability between me and others are coming from another place, at least in part. (Because in part I actually do relate to the sexual instinct, it’s just not very prominent in me. Funny enough I mostly relate to the unhealthy parts of SX. But that’s a discussion for another time.)

Anyway, I have questions about this, because I’m curious.

  1. What do you count as vulnerability

between you and others

  1. , if you have to be specific? Could you give me any concrete examples?
  2. Do all SX-dominants and -seconds want vulnerability? Or does that vary? For example, I was once involved with a very avoidant ISTP sp/sx and I could honestly say he didn’t seem the slightest bit interested in vulnerability. At. All.
  3. Why does vulnerability feel important to you?

Thanks a looot.

How would you react if a friend hooked up w your ex?

This is the POV of a friend of mine (an SO 9), and I’d want you to put yourselves in her shoes for a bit.

———

You (an SO 9) is at a beautiful summer wedding. Wine’s flowing, food’s great. The SO 7 groom is your close friend since 10 years. Total social butterfly.

And the groom’s brother is there, looming around in the shadows. He also happens to be your ex. It was a few years since you broke up, but you were together for 5+ years. You have a new boyfriend now, so seeing him isn’t that hard, just maybe a bit awkward. But you’ve literally told your friends you don’t want to have his new partners up your face. No thanks.

Now one odd thing is that your new boyfriend wasn’t invited to the wedding, despite all other people’s SO:s being invited. The groom’s argument was ”it might be awkward”. Super weird, but you’re agreeable and ”do not care”.

Then there’s this blonde girl in your social circle. She’s a newer close friend of the groom, and she’s been hanging out with the groom’s core group (his older friends, including you) muuuuuultiple times. She knows the lore.

Then she decides to hook up with the brother - your ex. She leaves with your ex at the end of the night.

You pretend like everything is fine until you don’t, and you start crying in the arms of a protective SP 9 friend.

The next day you say you don’t care though. He’s an ex after all. You have a boyfriend. ”You don’t care.”

Or do you?

As an enneagram 9, would you care deep down? Did that blonde girl who’s part of your friend group cross a line? Did she kinda break the girl code? Did she kind of break the social code by joining into an established friend circle, just to get with someone’s ex at a wedding?

——

I know considering the circumstances it might come off as a petty question, but I… was curious.

Are LLM becoming less coherent and logical?

I know that LLM-models make logical mistakes because they’re just language models. But I somehow feel like I’ve noticed that they’re starting to make more errors than previously. I might be imagining it, so I wanted to ask you all.

For context I mainly use ChatGPT and Gemini for discussing ideas or sometimes doing light research for personal use. While the sources aren’t always great and while I might get hallucinations instead of answers, I know it’s limits, and feel like it’s still quite useful.

Examples of problems that I cannot recall happened earlier:

- The model using connecting words like ”However” in the beginning of new sentences when no new contrasting information is being presented.

- I was discussing how transistors in microchips were made, because of how extremely small they are. At one point the AI said: ”Because human beings are essentially giant, walking dust factories constantly shedding skin cells, hair, and clothing fibers, the air system in the factory is designed entirely to protect the silicon from you, rather than the other way around.” The ”other way around” would be *to protect me from the silicone*, which is an irrelevant thing to say because silicone is not dangerous for humans to touch, and secondly, my protection was never the point of the discussion. Saying ’the other way around’ makes no sense.

- In that same message it answered my question on breathing in the factory air: ”So while the air itself is arguably the purest air you will ever breathe in your life, wearing the gear means you're hyper-aware of your own breathing the whole time!”. It’s trying to connect two different concepts (breathing pure air, gear making you hyper aware) and make it sound like it was always about the level of awareness of breathing that was important. Spoiler alert; it wasn’t. A better sentence would’ve been ”while the air is pure, it just feels like breathing well circulated, dry office air”.

These are just a few examples that I came across today and it’s essentially happening ALL THE TIME in like 50% of messages. There’s no end to it. And I never had to mentally correct AI this much before, from what I can remember.

Am I alone in noticing it? Am I imagining things? Has anything changed, and if so, what?
