Bolete help - Butyriboletus roseopurpureus?
Southern Quebec. Any idea on these chonky guys? Found in mixed birch/beech/maple/oak forest growing from the forest floor. I'm new to trying to ID boletes, but the wpa site seems to confirm my guess.
Five minute lunch
Smoked Herring with ramps and white pepper on sourdough toast with garlic scape pesto, romaine, and cherry tomato.
Nice tin, reminds me of slightly dry smoked sturgeon. Perhaps not a rebuy, but looking forward to more from the brand.
Game 5 - what are we drinking?
Gaspard Brochet Lion Tome 6
Creamy toasted strawberry on the nose. Strong bead, M+acidity and shows very light dosage. Red berries on the front of the palate, with textured skin contact notes apparent into a long, creamy finish. Unique and very nice.

Where to buy fresh morels in the city, preferably Brooklyn?
Anyone know a place to buy high quality fresh morels right now? I know that Eataly and Union Market often have them, but I've always found their stock to be a little old.
Friday night, break out the good stuff
Damn this is really, really good. Made a vinegarette from the leftover syrup, some lemon, and evoo to toss the greens in. The best tin I've ever opened.
Today's lunch - mussels in salsa brava with white rice
Very nice tin, unceremoniously dumped over some high quality rice. Nice sized mussels, good texture, and the sauce is very tasty.
Still, I prefer my mussels smoked, and these don't hold a candle to my current #1, Portomar smoked. Not a rebuy for me, but well recommended.
Daniel Murphy not talk about himself challenge
Impossible
Gary should not be permitted to mention historic events in progress
The man is the ultimate jinx for that stuff
Historic Sidewalk Destruction / Repair by Coned?
I know nothing about sidewalks, but every realtor and construction team gets excited to see these slabs because they're apparently historic and older than blue stone.
- Are these slabs actually historically valuable and worthwhile to preserve?
- Coned is currently tearing up the block. If they damage these, are they required to replace in-kind?
Appreciate any insight from the brownstone crowd.
The best negroni I've had - happy memorial day!
Equal parts Amass gin, Scarlett bitter liqueur, and Dolin red. Incredible complexity and all the pieces play nicely together. Perfect stoop sipper for a cool Friday evening.
He's a hopeless defender. He can't hit consistently. Put a fork in him.
New gin for me, Amass from California, with a mile long list of botanicals. Really nice, excellent pairing with the Cocchi for a dry martini, gives a very distinct woody forest floor echo, with sarsaparilla lingering on a long finish.
