The original plan for the Hail Mary mission was to have a scientist, engineer and pilot. All three were necessary roles. Grace and Rocky are a scientist and engineer, but they didn’t have Yao, the pilot, so of course when they almost died, it had to be a piloting error. The thing that saved them in the end was Rocky finding someone to be brave for, like Yao said.

Most people feel weirdly vulnerable without a blanket, so much they’d sometimes rather get hot wrapped in blankets than stick out their foot to cool down. Why? did we evolve to have that feeling? is it a social construct?

do people just not read the subreddit name? Is the stereotype that Redditors take everything too seriously true? Should I eat the pretty red mushrooms I got from my backyard?

why do people not smell stuff to see if it’s hot or cold? Works just as well as touching it

to clarify, my shower thought is that most people can sniff something and know what temperature it is, but instead people usually put their hand on the surface which can burn or freeze. I’ve started sniffing stuff that comes out of the microwave instead of burning my hand on it like the idiot I once was

until I was like 8 I believed in over memorizing, which is memorizing so much your old memories have to get deleted. is there any truth to that at all?
