I’ll keep it short. I’ve started a new role which involves fairly long trips to France and back, and the location I’m going to means that driving (I live in Essex) is pretty much the only option that makes sense. The client is covering my costs.

My current car is very old, and not really equipped for long motorway runs in comfort and safety and has no modern driving aids.

I’ll need to lease, with my own money. In my price range and available quickly I’ve found

- VW ID7 Pro Match Plus
- Škoda Elroq 85 Sportline
- Volvo EX30 Plus P5 Extended Range

Assuming the lease terms for these are similar, what would you go for and why?

Anything else I should be looking at? My needs are

- WLTP (I know real life is different) range of 300+ miles
- Adaptive Cruise + Lane Assist so it’ll guide itself down the motorway with supervision from me
- At least 175hp. Don’t need a rocket but don’t want a slug.
- Lease for 24 or 36 months at <£500/month with 3 months upfront

I really don’t care about size or shape or even make. It’ll almost always be just me in the car with minimal luggage. Comfort and driver assistance are important.

I do a fair bit of Eurostar travel and have been using the app on iPhone for quite some time.

However, a couple of months ago, something changed and I now have to authenticate with 2FA (credentials + SMS code) every single time.

This is really bloody irritating. I wrote to Eurostar about it and of course, no response as yet.

Has anyone else had this behaviour in the app, and was anyone able to find a solution?

Le systeme de gestion de voyages d'entreprise (swile) m'envoye un billet electronique sous forme de PDF. Est-ce que ceci est suffisant pour le voyage ou faut-il aussi l'imprimer?

Hi. Travelling in a couple of weeks on the Portsmouth-Caen route and hoping some local knowledge can help me as Brittany Ferries have been a little vague in their answers.

I know how to get to the terminal but my question is more about timing - my goal is to check in and get on board and into my cabin as quickly as possible.

Any info on what time boarding is permitted for the 2300 sailing?

Just got an email cancelling my train from London to Brussels on 9 July.

Fortunately rebooking online was easy.

The email said

“your train on Thursday 09 July from London St Pancras Int'l to Brussels Midi / Zuid has been cancelled due to the impact of the exceptional heatwave.”

I was on Ryanair UK flight RK129 (Stansted to Belfast) yesterday and something struck me as odd.
As soon as the inflight service started, I tried to order a beer using the Ryanair app. Instead, the cabin crew told me that they couldn’t sell any alcohol because it was a domestic flight.

That doesn’t sound right to me. I’m almost certain I’ve bought alcohol on UK domestic flights before (although I can’t remember which airline), and I can’t find anything suggesting UK law prohibits it.

What makes it even stranger is that the Ryanair app was quite happy to let me add alcohol to my order right up until the crew member came to my seat and told me this.

So I’m wondering:

Has anyone else been told this by Ryanair?

Is this actually a Ryanair policy on certain UK domestic routes?

Was the crew member simply mistaken?

Or was there some other operational reason (e.g. no stock) that they didn’t explain?

Interested to know whether this was a genuine policy or just a one-off.

ETA: I contacted Ryanair on chat and they confirmed this is not policy and they do sell alcohol on domestic flights.
