C&L Grease Causing More Problems

https://www.fourstateshomepage.com/news/local/illegal-industrial-waste-contaminates-webb-city-plant/

There were some posts on here awhile back about the terrible smell that was (and still is) lingering around Carterville that was identified as being from this company dumping waste on property they own.

Now it appears this guy has created an unauthorized entry into the sewer system and has also been disposing of his company's waste by dumping it into the sewer.

It's nuts that this guy seems to be untouchable and just gets away with all this.

Ski shop in Laramie, WY?

I'm going to be visiting Laramie in a few weeks. I live in the midwest, so there are no ski shops anywhere near me but I need a pair of ski boots so I thought if I had a little extra time while I am in the area I might be able to take care of that. Any suggestions on where I might be able to get a good deal on some boots? I don't need anything ultra facy and expensive, I only ski occasionally but I also don't want junk. I'm an intermediate skier I'd say. I can ski pretty much any blue or black trail I've encountered.

I'll by flying into Denver so I'm sure there are more options in that area but I am not sure if I'll have time.

Thanks!

OBS on Macbook Pro M1?

I'm trying to use OBS to capture a video feed from an elgato camlink but it's just not working at all. I've run the wizard for the "optimal settings for my system". I've reduced quality and resolution even below what was originally suggested. So it's saving videos as 1280x720/30fps. I have no other applications open.

But it's extremely laggy to the point the saved videos are useless. If I even have the OBS application open my entire system runs slow. If I try to open other applications they hang or become unresponsive, or take minutes to open instead of seconds. I also keep having issues with no audio feed coming through. I finally got it to work but then after experimenting with a couple save attempts and settings, the audio is gone again. I've verified the OBS app has microphone access enabled in the system settings.

I know this computer is a few years old but it otherwise runs really great for me. I can't believe it's incapable of capturing video. I used to capture video 20 years ago on a Mac G4 with zero lag.

Anyone else captured video with this setup on a M1 sucessfully? Is there a more simple way to do it?

OZ Bike Park

There is a new bike park opening somewhat near me in Bentonville AR. It's a lift serviced park, looks like it's going to be pretty nice and a lot of fun, I think about 20 mi of trail, although less than 300' of vertical.

I haven't seen what day passes will be priced at but they recently released intro membership plans at $99/mo for an individual.

That seems really high to me, is that typical for a small lift bike park? I mean that's on par with an EPIC or IKON pass for skiing.

For comparison there is another downhill park across the state line in Missouri - it uses shuttles vs a ski lift and it has a smaller footprint, but a fair amount more vertical, and otherwise comparable base camp ammenities. That place charges about $35 for a day pass and a little over $300 for an annual pass - so it's a LOT cheaper.

Maybe the Oz park is deliberately pricing high because otherwise with the amount of riders in the area it would get an overwhelming amount of use?

Thoughts? If I lived in town where I could do some laps after work during the week, I could see myself maybe considering the $1200. But as a weekend warrior who usually also has my son in tow, that seems out of reach. I wasn't expecting this place to be cheap but it's considerably more than I was expecting. Am I unrealistic?

Medicine Bow Peak Area Trails end of May?

I'm going to be in the area around the last weekend of May and was wondering about squeezing in a hike up there. Will the historic bad snow winter out west make this doable? What could I expect?

I keep getting this message on my infotainment screen that has to be acknowledged before I can use anything in the system. I've cleared it dozens of times in the few months I've had this truck but it keeps returning seemingly at random but maybe it's on a timed increment. Ironically I have to take my attention off driving in order to clear the message. Some of my previous vehicles would have something similar upon startup but it would clear itself after a few seconds. On the canyon it persists until you touch it.

Is there a way to disable this? It's incredibly annoying.

Over the weekend I searched for a united flight from my airport (our only carrier) for a destination I was wanting to visit soon. The best result came up just barely inside my budget, $403. High especially considering this was the ultra basic economy, but I needed to talk to my wife first. So when I went to book, maybe an hour and a half later, I opened up the tab and the results auto refreshed and now the price is $499. UA knew there was interest in that particular route and was willing to gamble I would still purchase in spite of the $96 price increase. Usually I just bend over and take it but this time we just decided to not go.

Why does airfare pricing have to be like this? This is just one example of maybe 30 times this has happened to me over the years where I search and get one price but end up paying a penalty because I don't book from the very first search.

Do people go to south america to get a ski fix during our summers in the northern hemisphere? I hear a lot about skiing North American (I'm in the US), Europe, and Japan but never hear anything about South America. Are there just not any great places to ski down there or what exactly? Seems like it would be a great way to get a fix in the summer months here.
