Planes, especially modern jets, are WAY too weathered
Look at any skin of any modern plane close up and look how ruined by scratches and soot they are. They are WAY too overweathered. The Su-30sm2 is filled with scratches and soot on the joints, this is just not true for such a modern air frame.
This is true for other airframes as well, like the F-106 and the MiG-29k.
Gaijin ruined them way too much despite the much better conditions in which they are irl. This makes it very difficult for people who make skins because it adds a lot of unnecessary polishing in both the actual skin file AND the UV file (reflection values).
The elevators of the 29K are completely filled with soot as if it was a 1940s prop plane, and even those weren't that dirty!

It took ages to finish this one, but my third ever model has finally been completed. Everything was handbrushed (unfortunately. I don't have an AB) using Vallejo colours and with a final coat of AK ultramatte.
The model itself is an upscaled version of the 1/72 su-57 so it lacks quite a bit of details. It also has A LOT of fitting issues which I mostly resolved, but I can't say the same for the canopy unfortunately :c. It's very misaligned.
I hand painted a few details, such as nav lights and the 101KS atoll MAWS and the smoke exhaust for the Gsh-30-1 autocannon.
I've also taken the artistic liberty of painting the canopy black because... It looks sexy on the felon.
I did not weather the model because this is supposed to be a serial production variant, meaning the panel lining is filled by RAM coating.
I'm overall very satisfied with how it turned out, but I would not recommend the kit to inexperienced modellers (rich coming from me since it's my third model but whatever), since there's plenty of fitting issues and also because it lacks detail in some areas (the cockpit, mainly).
The last pic is a comparison with my first model, Zvezda's 1/72 Su-27UB.
Hope you enjoy it!
