Since it's a darker colour than the base, should I secure the surroundings with tape and then sand the spills or should I just paint over them?

I'm being very careful and doing very dry coats here

The right side of the aircraft already has 5 coats of USAF light grey (Vallejo)...

How do I get an actually even finish? Do I need to make a LOT of coats because it's a light colour or is there something that I'm doing wrong?

So... How does one clean it? It's rather dusty. I see that it has anti fogging lenses inserted and they still work!

It seems in rather good condition (other than it being a bit dusty). So what's the info on this one? How is it put on? How is it cleaned? What are its quirks? How dangerous is the filter (I assume it has asbestos in it)?

I don't know much about birds of prey unfortunately. Looking at images this looks like an Eurasian hobby to me but I'm not sure.
