I have two batteries for my 27 compac. One is now dead. The other is good, at 12.6 with 1000MCA. I only run depth/autopilot and don’t make long passages. Do I need a dual purpose marine battery? They are expensive. Any suggestions?

How old is too old to start living aboard? Is it practical to live aboard and travel in a monohull over 50? 60? Wouldn’t the constant repairs and physical labor make it impossible to retire while living aboard?
