Info on USMLE testing center

I'm going to be giving my exam soon and need information about what it's like in the testing center.

I need someone to guide me on the last preparations (not study related)

-what to bring + what not to bring

-what to wear / what not to wear

-what to bring to eat/drink

-how to utilize break time to avoid crashing out

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can I give my exam in October?

I restarted my step1 prep 2 months ago after a pause (been studying on and off since 2024).

I have given 3 assessments so far in the last 2 months.

NBME 30, 31 and UWSA 2026. All 3 are ~75%

Can I book the exam for October?

How should I utilize August to improve my scores? I know my weak areas and I keep messing up on them even in assessments.

How should I revise things? Haven't studied pharma since med school. Weak biochem: anatomy embryo.. haven't read FIrst Aid much either.

Please guide on how I should utilize August.. I don't wanna keep studying endlessly.

Missing girl in Bahawalpur

Hello everyone please take some time out of your day to read this

This man’s daughter was kidnapped around two years ago and hasn’t been found since, he’s helplessly and desperately asking people on instagram to help him as he doesn’t have many resources to help him. Please if anyone has contacts or connections with the government or the police, please help him out. The way this man cries while talking about his only daughter and how scared he is for her is genuinely breaking my heart and I unfortunately don’t have any personal connections with anyone in the government or police department. Please guys help him out

Chrome not opening on my Windows

It was totally working fine till yesterday.

Then suddenly it stopped opening. Even if I clicked on it 10 times, it would briefly open for like 1sec then close, or not open at all.

I tried everything I could think of. Reinstalling chrome. Tried chat gpt and it's instruction. Nothing is working! Other browsers like edge are working fine. It's just chrome.

What do I now? I need to have this fixed asap

Have you had any drug addict in your family?

Ok this is really heavy to write.

My colleague/friend passed a few days ago. I'm going to describe to you some scenarios and I want you to help me point out the clues that favored he was a drug addict and tell me any similar stories you can share.

Btw he had gone to Russia/Kyrgyzstan to do MBBS and returned to Pakistan last year for housejob.

The first day he showed upto work, there was something strange about him. uske shirt k 2 buttons khule hue they, and he was totally unbothered by that fact. Everyone was staring at him. Eventually one of our seniors took him aside and helped him close them.

He was unusually loud, had very fast/pressured speech sometimes wo jo bolta tha bilkul samjh nai ati thi. Like mumbling/mun be bolna. Again, he wasn't aware of it.

He could never sit still. Always moving around, always pestering everyone. Even our seniors eventually got tired of it.

When his behaviour started getting annoying and aggressive, a friend and I took him to the OPD once. Everyone including myself (since we were all doctors) asked him if he has done drugs before but he never admitted it. Completely denied it. But his strange behavior showed otherwise.

His mental status eventually started getting worse. He used to walk like swaying from side to side, aisa lagta tha hosh mai nai hai pura. Eyelids half closed, kabhi idr hora kabhi udher. Samjh nai ata tha kya bolra hai. Like a half asleep person talking.

When he had his first ICU admission, he came with fever and seizures.

He had 3 ICU admissions this year and eventually he passed away a few days ago.

And I'm grieving like hell. I just need answers..

Need guidance for FCPS (just finished housejob)

I just finished my housejob. I know nothing about fcps/md/ms in Pakistan. Can someone give a detailed guide about:

FCPS/MD exam in Pakistan: when we can give it, how that system works

How many times it occurs in a year/when you can actually apply for induction/how long it stays valid

What happens if you leave your residency in between etc

Also anyone here who is in residency and studying for some other foreign exam? How do you manage? Could really use your advice

How did you deal with your grief?

How did you deal with the grief that came after you lost a family member or a friend?

7 months ago something like this happened, and just yesterday I got to know my friend passed away. I have been in denial for the past 7 months cus the reality is too painful to bear. I don't talk about it anymore. You know how people look at the deceased's pictures or listen to their voice notes? Well yeah I've never done that as it breaks me every time.

It doesn't even feel like anything is real. Is this world even real? Does anything we do even matter? For the past half year I've cried almost every day to sleep. I usually need sleep aids otherwise I can't get myself to sleep cus the grief creeps up again at night.

I always feel like I'm just existing in some made up life but not really living. Things are just happening on their own, time is flying and I never processed anything. I blink and someone else just died, even though I didn't even get over the previous one.

What helped you and how did you find peace again?

Near death experiences

Does anyone have a near death experience or where they actually "died" but came back?

As someone who has seen many people die, and literally thinks about death everyday, I'm curious to hear your stories.

STEP1 prep for almost 2 years

Hi, I need some advice.

I started preparing for STEP1 2 years back while I was in med school. I practice Uworld, and had completed 80% by last year. Then my internship year started so I didn't get much time to study. Now that's recently ended a month ago so I have dedicated time to study now.

Over past 1.5 months, I've gone through my incorrects for some subjects. And I'm focusing on content review. I haven't read First Aid A to Z. Only selective.

I gave 2 NBME in this period.

NBME 30 and 31. Both were around 78%.

I want to get my exam done within this year. I know I should get the triad but I feel so anxious.

Could really use your advice.

Observerships

Recently completed housejob.

Please guide in a detailed manner on how to search for observerships after STEP1 or someone who doesn't know how or where to start.

Plus if you have already done that, what other things would you advise?

MO jobs after housejob

I have some questions:

How do we find MO jobs after housejob?

Is it through UHS or private?

Do we need permanent license for this?

Need a proper guide on this.

Burewala THQ video/Tiktoker AC

Someone told me that doctors should get advice from lawyers on what to do when such things happen. This video was clearly harassment and public humilation for that women.

So my question is, what specific laws here protect us as women and as doctors? What do we do when something like that happens? Where do we file a complaint?
