Im halfway through the first book and enjoying the world-building. However, I find it incredibly hard to believe or picture these characters as 15- or 16-year-old teenagers. The only one who actually seems like one is Simon, but that’s more down to his archetype than his age.

It’s not that I think they’re bad characters, but nothing about them suggests they’re young, aside from the occasional mention of their age. They come across more like adults in their early twenties.

Solo he visto estas criticas en internet por lo que podría ser solo una cámara de eco. Pero de todas formas lo he visto lo suficiente como para plantearme esto.

I know there are plenty out there, which is why I’m asking for recommendations.

I’m looking for something where the character is living a normal life, then suddenly gets drawn into the supernatural and has to learn to use powers or magic to help out. Bonus points if there’s a bit of romance to spice things up.

I’ve only read *Harry Potter* and *Percy Jackson* and I suppose *Mistborn* falls into this category too, but I’m looking for something in between: not as juvenile as the early *Percy Jackson* books, but not as grim as *Mistborn*.

I think it is simple:

Elementary school

Middle school

And then High school

But I keep hearing different terms in TV shows that confuse me.

Whether it’s a character discovering they have magical abilities. Discovering the existence of another world and monsters. Or a secondary character finding out the protagonist has superpowers...

From what I’ve seen, I tend to have them accept this new information too quickly.
