Buying dream car

Im going through crisis with 30 years old coming up

Married we share one car because wife WFH

435k NW liquid - 10k net income - No debt - don’t own home rent APT - total monthly expenses 2.5k

I wouldn’t have anywhere to charge it but my dream car is either 2020 model 3 in black or 2024 highland model 3 in quicksilver

Looking at 20-30k for one of these (currently drive paid off 2012 Honda worth around 5k)

I always told myself I’d wait to buy this till we own a home - but I’ve stopped caring about that recently due to interest rates and flexibility - would rather just stuff brokerage.

Thoughts - Help me work this out in my head. Thanks in advance!

I realize money wise it will never make “sense” to do this .. but I’ve sacrificed so long I want to do something big for 30/500k liquid NW

Could Dustin have beat up the cop that drunk?

We all saw the video where he challenged the cop

Let’s assume the cop is similar size with little to no training and didn‘t use weapons.

Could he have still easily beaten him up that drunk?

My gut say yes - but it would have taken some time and been sloppy (he was clearly drunk as hell)

Advice selling coins

Let me start by saying I know nothing about coins, so thanks in advance

I won giveaway on Whatnot for 10 Morgan’s, a peace dollar, a silver dime and gram of platinum

I went to local highly rated coin shop and they gave me $450 for them, I tried to negotiate but they were not in great condition

(which is understandable because they were free in giveaway)

I tried to negotiate but nothing - he wouldn’t budge

Rather than waste time going from coin shop to coin shop, I took the deal which he wrote me a check and told me to go to that specific bank to cash it

I did this and there was $7 fee to cash it

Am I a cheap idiot? Car insurance question

I have paid car insurance since I was 16 averaging about $100 a month

That’s roughly 15k over the years for a product I have never used once (no tickets, accidents, anything)

I have reached a breaking point looking at hand written monthly budget each month seeing this deducted.

Last year or so I have been going with cheapest possible insurance I can find/legally have

This basically cut my bill in half (Progressive $345 for 6 months paid in full and just raised it to $395)

Wife and I are 29, share 2012 Honda civic that’s paid off worth around 6k, 415k in stocks and another 100k in non real estate assets (we rent)

I get this is a “gamble” … but scale of 1-10, being brutally honest, how stupid is this? Am I being too cheap?

Paying every month for a product I have literally never used once in 13 years is slightly frustrating

Thanks in advance

Weird flex - first time losing 5 figures in one day

Title - guess there is a first for everything

This is from Friday, did hit 10k in loses for day little later after screenshot

(I realize this is relative and some people lost a lot more, I’m 29 and these are long term safe investments so not too worried)

Hit 400k! 29 y/o married couple

Late post because I’ve been on a work trip, but my wife and I (both 29) just hit $400k in our Fidelity account ($435k total liquid investments). Most of it is in VOO.

This happened quick! Somewhere around 6 months ago we hit 300k

We rent an apartment for $1.3k/month and share a paid-off 2012 Honda Civic. Our total monthly expenses are around $2.25k, while our net income is about $10k/month, including some side hustle money from dog/baby sitting and selling random stuff on Facebook Marketplace lol.

We had a decent amount sitting in a HYSA, but during all the Iran-related market volatility we decided to move most of it into the market because it looked like a good opportunity. We’ll probably be renting for quite a while longer.

Hoping to hit $500k total liquid investments before the end of the year, although that obviously depends on what the market does.

Any questions, ask away. We’re pretty boring people

Honestly, I think the #1 key to building wealth is finding a partner who shares the same goals and vision. I have friends who make significantly more than we do but have nowhere near as much saved because they’re not aligned financially and are more focused on looking rich than actually building wealth (just my opinion, i realize im no warren buffet)

Side note: sometimes I look at individual stocks like Dell or Nvidia and get tempted to throw money into them. Then I remind myself that it’s basically performance chasing, and almost every wealthy person I know built their wealth slowly and boringly through consistent investing. Anyone else struggle with that?

anyways, I get market has been on fire and this anomaly but still excited!

Frugal Vacation W!!! PHX —-> Santa Fe

had a massive frugal win this weekend!!

My wife is working on a trip to Santa Fe for hotel company she works at (she has been there 3 weeks and has 3 more to go 🫠)

I finally drove up from Scottsdale. We stayed at this amazing hotel on her work perk, ate there for free, and hit up a couple of great restaurants/breweries.

We spent our days hiking, lounging by the pool, hitting the spa, and wandering through downtown art galleries.

Total cost - $95 on gas using Speedway Rewards app ($1 off each gallon 2012 Honda)

$75 on beer and food (co-worker gave us gift card to great Italian restaurant)

Everything else covered! Woohoo!!!!

I did post on Craigslist offering stranger ride for gas money, but this ended in some odd conversations so i decided not to …

Overall very happy and was awesome vacation

Also should we go to Tomasita's or La choza for Mexican?

First, thanks to everyone trying to help in previous post! Appreciate you.

I wanted to give an update on the stolen bike situation. Luckily, we had an AirTag on the bike and we were able to track it to the low-income housing on Queen Anne — which ironically is an extremely nice building with a security guard.

The bike was in the garage of the building, and they were able to locate it with the security guard opening door. It was locked up, and we stayed with the security guard until the police came. We were able to get the lock undone with the help of the security guard and the police, and get the bike back!!!

The police (who were awesome btw) explained they have arrested this guy a bunch but he keeps just getting let out, making them feel hopeless. Seattle …

Anyways, thanks to the Police and security guard for helping with this!

Sadly, after living our whole life, building a business and raising kids here this (along with being pushed off my other electric bike and having it stolen last month) is the final straw.

Again, thanks to the cops, security and you guys for the tips!
