How to find work as a new dev

I'm going to avoid adding fluff to this:

  1. Get at least 4 months experience. Don't be a "newbie who can learn on the job."
  2. Do 5 commissions for free. Go in a Roblox game dev server (or a sub like this one) and offer to do some free work.
  3. Put that work in a portfolio. It doesn't have to look insanely good, you just have to show your work and prove that it's yours.
  4. Find work on TWITTER, NOT A SERVER. Finding a job in a dev server/subreddit is find for getting experience, but isn't remotely sustainable. You won't get paid much, it's too competitive, and 80% of the people there want to scam you.

99% of Democrats aren't communists and 99% of Republicans aren't nazis

Let me start by saying I'm not one of those "two sides are equally bad" people. As a matter of fact, I'm very left-leaning. However, I'm getting tired of both sides exaggerating each other's belief systems. Giving everyone free healthcare isn't communism, and more deportations aren't nazism/fascism.

JU from TrueUnpopularOpinion

The opinions there are only unpopular on reddit. It's just an echo chamber for whiny conservative incels who subject themselves to a left leaning platform and then complain about it. Every post is just some variation of "trump is awesome and lefties are morons and if immigrants didn't exist then women would want to fuck me"

You get AI in 2005, and must make $1m in a year or die

You are transported into the year 2005 with a PC that has every major AI model. Images, videos, text, code, everything. You can use each model as much as you would like, and also have an API key for each (loaded with infinite credits).

You have one year to make $1m or you will be killed by a hitman. The money cannot come from predicting things like sports or stock markets. In other words, you don't know anything about the future except how to use the AI models you've been provided with.

How do you do it?

Light mode is better than dark mode

"B-but light mode is blinding and hurts my eyes" what are you, a fucking vampire? Dark mode is depressing and hard to see unless you're in a pitch-black room (which is bad for you). Furthermore, light mode allows for better themes and designs that would otherwise look bad on a dark canvas.

AI art looks good but isn't as enjoyable as real art

A lot of AI artworks are aesthetically nice to look at. Just go on any ai art sub and you'll see that most of the stuff there doesn't look bad at all. However, a big part of the art experience is thinking "wow, the person who made that must have taken so much time and effort to make it look that nice." That effect, obviously, is lost with AI art.

I like it when people try to get me to join their religion

I'm agnostic and a lot of other fellow agnostics/atheists get really ticked off when someone says something like "Jesus loves you" or "repent now" etc. But honestly I think it's really nice to know when someone I know cares about me enough to try to try to "save my soul" (even if, in my opinion, my soul does not need to be saved).

Tinder for friends

A "dating app" that pairs you with people who have similar interests. Friendship is way less complicated than a relationship, so the success rate will surely be higher.

Seasoned developer here looking to share some slightly brutal advice:
Your game will fail if you pay your devs with rev share. You won't find many developers because it's riskier than upfront payment. Even if you do, they won't be good. No skilled developer will risk their time on a project that might completely fail.

If you truly care about your game and want it to be high quality + successful, you need money. Get a job in real life, save $15k, and by all means build your dream game. You'll be able to hire good developers and advertise the game enough to build a player base.
