I’m new to derby and I broke my ankle, how can I learn more and improve while not skating?

I’m a newbie who hasn’t passed basic skills yet and I just broke my ankle. I’m going to need surgery and it will probably be like a 6 month healing process until I am able to be on skates again.

How can I improve while not actively skating? I would love any ideas or recommendations you all have. Some of my ideas have been to try to learn strategy via YouTube, practice balance on my one uninjured leg, workout in the ways I am able to that don’t involve my leg, become really good as a non skating official.

Any ideas or resources are more than welcome!!

My local toy store has the unflocked figure sets in stock…

I would not buy this. It looks better in the photo somehow but just awful in person

Being alive is hell, I feel incompatible with life

my therapist once used the term “failure to thrive” to describe me a severely traumatized and mentally ill woman in her 20s. as soon as as my dog dies I’m going to kill myself. i never wanted to be alive

Does anyone else get overstimulated from being overweight or obese?

I’m obese and I am constantly getting overstimulated by my own body. I hate the feeling of being sweaty, of my skin touching itself, clothes getting too tight, etc. I just feel so physically uncomfortable that it is hard to deal with

Please help me do better and be better

I’m 27F and I have been vegan for over 8 years now. being vegan is incredibly important to me. I love animals incredibly deeply. Animals of all types. I have some severe mental health issues (Complex PTSD, OCD, AuDHD, etc) and I’ve also struggled with binge eating since I was about 10 years old. Lately my life has gone to absolute shit. I’m struggling to cope. And I’ve been going out and binge eating non vegan vegetarian donuts.

I am so deeply ashamed of myself. I want to be adhering to veganism 100%, but lately I have had so much pain in my life it has been causing bad suicidal ideation. And when I bite into a donut it feels like love which I am so desperately lacking.

I am posting here instead of mental health subreddits because I know you will take my veganism seriously.

Also I did have a therapist but she was recently diagnosed with a severe terminal cancer. I have been leaving an abusive relationship and I have been seeing a domestic abuse counselor for a couple sessions, but I am almost out of sessions and I can’t find another therapist who takes my insurance. All of this has coincided with a bunch of awful life stuff all at once which is why I have been binge eating

Please don’t be too hard on me I am so deeply ashamed and I’m really not doing well

Has anyone successfully stopped hating themselves? How?

seriously how do I stop hating myself? i hate everything I am and everything I do, I seriously can’t stand myself. I try my best to be a good person and do good things, but I have such a deep internalized resentment for myself.

My abusive childhood primed me for abusive partner relationships

My whole childhood, my experience was denied. I was gaslighted, told that things never happened, yelled at the I was too sensitive. The abuse was normalized. I internalized this. I learned that my own point of view could not be trusted and I learned to accept the view point of other people.

Fast forward to now, I am in the middle of leaving a 5 year relationship that I am just starting to see was abusive. Because I learned not to trust my own judgment, I relied of my ex’s judgment for an example of what is normal. I am just now starting to see that nothing was normal. I was stalked, monitored, blamed, shamed, sexually assaulted, etc. and I just couldn’t see it until now. Having been so used to growing up in an abusive environment I just walked right in to an abusive relationship. I normalized my own abuse.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, have you overcome it to have healthy relationships and how?

Anywhere in town to get stuff for pride month?

I’d love to get some stuff for pride month to celebrate. Local places preferred, but I figure it’s not likely so anywhere is good

Does anyone else pick because they have the feeling that something disgusting is in their body and they need to get it out?

I constantly feel like I have something disgusting in my body and I absolutely have to get it out. I just get so grossed out by the idea of letting something so nasty be in my skin. anyone else?

Can anyone tell me what quilt pattern this is? I love it so much. I can’t figure it out!

I would really love some info on this pattern. I recognize that it is a sawtooth star. I’ve done a lot of googling. I’m not good enough to be able to make my own pattern yet.

I have reached out to the maker of the quilt, but no luck. If anyone knows the pattern or a pattern that is similar I would be so grateful!

What are some collections I could have without buying something? Such as bird watching and plant id

hi everyone, I absolutely have a collector’s mindset and over the years I have collected a number of random things. I think this is in part because of my neurodivergence. I want to stop the cycle of consumerism in my life and maybe find a way of collection that doesn’t involve consumption. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks!

Edit: I got a local bird identification book and I posted on a local buy nothing group asking for some binocular. Someone gave me an incredibly nice pair of binoculars for free, it was very kind of them. So I’m going to put them to good use. That’s a win!

Does anyone collect American Girl dolls because they are lonely?

I collect American Girl dolls in part because I loved them as a child, but also in part because I am lonely. I love the dolls with a backstory such as the historical line and the girl of the year line. I feel like I like the truly me line less because they feel less “real” to me. I love to immerse myself in a doll’s story.

I am disabled so I don’t have as much human interaction as someone with a job would have and I find myself trying to fill in the blanks in my life and sometimes I do that with American Girl dolls.

Oh my god please don’t fall for it, I saw so many people get the test. Don’t let it suck you in, it’s a cult. They’re trying to hide it from people who know better than to get involved in Scientology
