I'm an idiot 😭😮

Our T7 hasn’t been putting out water recently, so I decided it would be a smart idea to pre soak my halls with Stride and then just use the T7 to scrub the floors and suck up the water. Turns out I had absolutely zero traction. Who would’ve thought 😭

Dual Screen Mod!

A work in progress Valheim mod! I wanted a way to enjoy one of my favorite games across both screens of the AYN Thor, so I decided to make it happen. It’s still early in development, but it’s coming together nicely!

Stardew Valley Dual Screen Mod Release

My Stardew Valley Dual Screen mod is officially live! For a full breakdown of the features, setup instructions, and other information, check out the README on GitHub.

To get started, download and install the APK, then open it on the bottom screen. Launch Stardew Valley through Cinderbox, GameHub, GameNative, or whatever you normally use to run the game on the top screen. As soon as you load into your save file, the mod will automatically start displaying everything on the bottom screen.

If you run into any bugs or issues, please create an issue on the repository so I can look into it. More updates and improvements are coming, but until then, enjoy the mod!

Stardew Valley Dual Screen Mod

This is a dual screen Stardew Valley mod I put together. It moves the main HUD off the top screen entirely and keeps everything on the bottom display, leaving the game itself clean and unobstructed.

The bottom screen gives you an interactive hotbar and backpack, along with the current day, time, season, and gold. You can also check which machines on your farm are ready, view your journal, see which animals still need to be petted, track Community Center bundles, and more.

The idea is to make the second screen actually useful while keeping all of Stardew Valley’s important information and controls in one place without covering the main gameplay screen.

Edit: sorry some of the images are sideways, that's a reddit issue.

Steam Integration Is Almost Fully Working 🙂

In the last three days, I’ve managed to get Steam fully integrated and working with Proton 9, 10, and 11. After many, many, MANY hours of endless debugging, I finally isolated and fixed the issue that was causing the insane CPU usage. I’m still working on getting RAM usage under control, but that’s the next major issue I’m tackling.

The container itself isn’t configured or optimized whatsoever yet, so game performance is pretty awful right now. That being said, as you can see in the video, Steam itself is working. Automatic Steam Cloud saves are working, multiplayer is working, and even the Steam Overlay is fully functional.

The current process is pretty simple. You install your game through Steam and press play. Steam will eventually open, verify everything it needs to, and after that you can edit the game configuration and launch it normally through WEMU, or just launch it directly through the Steam client.

There are no DRM bypasses, no Steam emulators, and no bullshit workarounds. It’s the actual Steam client running and handling everything like it should.

I’m definitely starting to get burnt out after spending so many hours tracking down one issue after another, but I’m going to keep pushing until I can get everything running smoothly and performance where it needs to be.

Moonlight DS For The AYN Thor!

Here’s a small project I finished today called Moonlight DS! I originally implemented my own fork of Moonlight directly into the Loki Frontend, but I decided to take it a step further and turn it into a standalone app with full dual display integration.

To make this work, I also created my own fork of Sunshine with dual display support, allowing Moonlight DS to properly utilize both screens while streaming from a PC. Moonlight DS also includes a built in on screen keyboard with full controller support. If you prefer a traditional single display setup, you can use the bottom screen as a dedicated trackpad and keyboard instead.

Anyway, here’s a little showcase video of Moonlight DS in action, along with the download for anyone who wants to try it out. The project is completely open source due to Moonlight and Sunshine being GPL licensed, so feel free to check out the source, modify it, fork it, or do whatever you want with it!

Finally Got Full Steam Integration Working!

Oh boy!! After a full day of fighting with Steam integration in WEMU, I finally got it fully working! Steam is now completely integrated with no DRM issues and no bypasses needed. Games can run directly through the Steam client with full online and multiplayer support, full Steam Overlay support, achievements, cloud saves, and everything else working just like it should.

This took way longer than I expected and definitely gave me a few headaches along the way, but seeing everything finally come together and work properly makes it completely worth it!

Loki Frontend v1.3!

Loki Frontend 1.3 is here!

I finally got my ScreenScraper developer account set up, so users can now sign into their own ScreenScraper account directly through Loki and scrape artwork for their entire game library.

I've also added a built in file explorer directly inside the frontend. It's accessible through Side Menu > Files and lets you browse, access, and manage files on your device without needing to leave Loki.

Several bugs have been fixed as well, including an issue where the Home button wouldn't work correctly when the bottom screen had controller focus. The Home button should now properly return you to Loki regardless of which screen is currently in focus.

I also fixed an issue where closing Loki could leave the bottom screen stuck displaying the frontend even after the app had closed. Both screens should now close and behave properly.

Several scraping related issues have been fixed to make scraping artwork more reliable and consistent, along with a bunch of other smaller bugs and annoyances throughout the frontend that I honestly don't care enough to list individually lol.

I also finally have access to my main GitHub account again! Starting with version 1.3, all Loki releases and future updates will be posted there from now on.

Loki Frontend 1.3 is available now:

WEMU: A Custom Winlator Ludashi Fork I’m Building for the AYN Thor

WEMU (Windows Emulator) is a fork of Winlator Ludashi that I’m working on specifically for the AYN Thor. The main idea is to actually make use of both screens while improving performance and giving the whole app a cleaner, more modern UI.

It’s still a very early build and there are plenty of bugs to fix, but I’ve already made quite a few changes under the hood. With the performance tweaks I’ve added so far, I’m seeing around a 7 FPS improvement on average during gameplay compared to regular Winlator Ludashi.

I’ve also fully added frame generation. I personally prefer playing at 60 FPS, so I usually cap games at 30 FPS and use frame generation to bring them up to 60 FPS. It’s been working pretty well so far and makes heavier games much more enjoyable on the Thor.

There’s still a lot I want to improve and add, especially with the dual screen features, performance, and overall stability, but I just wanted to share what I’ve been working on so far!

Trade Success!

Managed to find someone willing to trade their Rainbow AYN Thor Max 1TB for my Black Max 1TB, and funny enough, they were only 10 minutes down the road!!! Couldn’t have worked out any better 😂

Wemu for the AYN Thor (huge WIP)

Hi everyone, I wanted to share another project I’ve been working on called Wemu. It’s a fork of Winlator Ludashi designed specifically for dual screen devices, with a focus on improved performance, deeper customization, and full integration with my Loki Frontend.

What you’re seeing is the result of about 3 days of on and off development. So far, the UI has been completely reworked, dual screen support is fully implemented, and I’ve already started making modifications to the actual engine itself.

There’s still plenty more I have planned for Wemu, and I’ll be sharing more updates as development continues!

Loki Frontend v1.2 Release!

Loki Frontend 1.2 is here with a huge list of new features, improvements, and fixes.

Full RetroAchievements support has been added, allowing you to sign in to your RetroAchievements account, track your progress, unlock achievements, and view game completion information directly within the launcher.

User profiles have been added, with each profile maintaining its own independent game library, ROM collection, and settings. This makes it easy for multiple people to share the same device while keeping their libraries and preferences completely separate.

Automatic dock detection has been added along with a dedicated docked and couch mode. Whenever an external display is connected, Loki automatically switches to a redesigned interface built specifically for TVs and controller based navigation.

New themes and expanded personalization options have been added, giving you more ways than ever to customize the look and feel of the launcher.

Support for additional emulators has been added, along with major improvements to ROM scanning, game detection, and game launching for better compatibility and reliability.

Widget support has been added, including a collection of custom widgets designed specifically for Loki that integrate seamlessly with the home screen.

The information panel has been completely redesigned with a cleaner, more modern layout that better showcases game artwork, metadata, and other useful information.

A dedicated controller mouse mode has been added, allowing you to navigate both the launcher and other Android apps using only your controller. A custom built in on screen keyboard with full controller support is also included, eliminating the need for touch input.

Support for additional Debrid providers has been added, giving you more flexibility when using Loki's built in streaming features.

Loki is fully compatible with Cocoon icon packs, and you can instantly transfer your existing Cocoon icon packs and scraped artwork into Loki without having to scrape or organize your library again.

This update also includes numerous bug fixes, performance improvements, UI refinements, and quality of life enhancements throughout the launcher to make the overall experience smoother and more reliable.

Automatic Dock Mode

I implemented automatic dock detection for couch mode in my frontend. Whenever an external monitor or HDMI cable is connected, couch mode automatically enables, as shown at the end of the video. I also spent today refining and improving the overall UI to make everything feel cleaner and more polished.

PS Recording with one hand is harder than it looks. 😂

A look at my frontend Loki

I finally finished the dual screen recording feature for my AYN Thor launcher, Loki, so I wanted to share a proper video of the launcher in action instead of photos taken with my phone. This gives a much better look at how everything works across both screens.

AYN Thor Loki Launcher Beta!

Before anything else, I'd like to be fully transparent about my development process. For all of my projects, I use Claude as a development assistant for tasks such as writing README.md files, debugging, and improving documentation and descriptions. Every feature, design decision, and line of code that makes up Loki is my own work, with Claude simply acting as a tool to help streamline development and improve documentation.

Loki is an all in one launcher built exclusively for the AYN Thor, designed to solve problems instead of creating them. Every part of the experience has been built with performance, stability, and ease of use in mind, delivering a fast, lightweight interface that takes full advantage of the Thor's unique dual screen hardware.

Unlike traditional front ends, Loki goes far beyond simply launching games. Stream movies and TV shows directly from within the launcher, connect to your PC or other devices over your local network for game streaming, and switch seamlessly into dedicated Couch Mode for a controller focused living room experience or Desktop Mode for a desktop style interface designed for larger displays. Everything is integrated into a single, cohesive experience so you never have to leave the launcher. Loki features complete controller support across the entire interface, extensive customization options, modern dual screen layouts, built in media streaming, LAN game streaming, and a growing collection of features designed specifically for the AYN Thor. The launcher is built to be extremely lightweight, highly optimized, and responsive, ensuring smooth performance without unnecessary overhead.

Loki is also fully compatible with Cocoon icon packs, allowing you to continue using your existing icon pack collection without any conversion or additional setup. Simply install your preferred Cocoon icon pack and apply it within Loki to instantly customize the look of your launcher.

One thing worth mentioning is that Loki was never intended to recreate the look or feel of the Nintendo 3DS. If you're looking for a launcher that closely resembles the 3DS interface, Cocoon is an excellent choice. Loki instead embraces a modern design philosophy with its own identity, focusing on usability, performance, and innovation rather than copying the appearance of another system. The goal is to create the most polished, feature rich, and reliable launcher available for the AYN Thor while remaining fast, intuitive, and built from the ground up specifically for the hardware it runs on.

To get started, head over to the GitHub page and download the latest release of Loki. If you're interested in the built in movie and TV streaming or LAN game streaming features, simply download the appropriate extension for each. Once Loki is installed, you'll be guided through a first time setup walkthrough that will help you configure the launcher, install any optional components, and get everything ready to use in just a few minutes.

If you encounter any bugs, issues, or have suggestions for new features, please open an issue on the GitHub page so they can be tracked and resolved. You can also send me a direct message here on Reddit if you have any questions, feedback, or need help getting Loki set up.

Note: The GitHub link is temporary while I work on regaining access to my main GitHub account. Once I have access again, all future development and releases will be moved back to my primary repository.

I've made a previous post including a video of the launcher if anyone is interested in that!

Thoughts?

Wanted to share another update on my custom AYN Thor frontend, THOR. It's still in the early stages of development, but progress has been coming along really well.

So far I've added the ability to stream movies and TV shows directly from within the frontend with support for torrent indexers and Real Debrid integration. I also developed my own dual screen compatible fork of Moonlight that's built directly into THOR, complete with full keyboard, mouse, and trackpad support to take advantage of both displays.

Right now I'm putting most of my focus into refining the overall design and user experience, especially the home screen, grid layout, and information panels.

Just wanted to show off what I've accomplished so far. There's still a lot more to come, but I'm really happy with how it's shaping up.

My Own Front End 🙂

Just wanted to show off a few photos of the custom frontend I'm working on. 🙂 I have a background in website and app development, so I wanted to put those skills to use by creating a frontend designed specifically for the AYN Thor.

The plan is for this to be a fully up to date Kotlin based Android APK built specifically for the AYN Thor. My goal was to capture the clean look of Cocoon while making it simpler, easier to use, more lightweight, and packed with a few features that Cocoon currently lacks, all while adding my own design and take on what a dual screen frontend should be.

This is only about a week's worth of progress, so it's still very early in development, but I'm really happy with how it's coming along so far.

Sorry for the poor camera quality, expected more out of a $1300 phone 🫪

A little mod I'm working on

Just wanted to share a little mod I've been working on for my AYN Thor and Valheim! I wanted a way to actually make use of the Thor's bottom screen while playing, and after about 2 hours of tinkering I finally have an early prototype working.

It's still very much a work in progress, but the goal is to move the minimap, hotbar, health, stamina, and food slots onto the bottom screen to give the game more of a true dual screen experience.

If all goes well, I plan on doing this for a bunch of my favorite PC games too. 😊
