Curious since it seems some people still had a great grandparent alive when they were born. I’ll go first here.

Oldest great grandparent was born in 1883-1884, and youngest great grandparent was born in 1907. None were alive when I was born.

I made a post a little while ago about this. I log out of my Roblox account on my laptop whenever I leave to commute to college so that I don’t get banned simply for connecting to the WiFi. I once had to connect to the public WiFi on my laptop a few days ago (I’ve been using mostly hotspot) and I’m concerned if I log back into my account on that same laptop when I get home there’s a risk of getting banned because of that. Is that how it works or is that only if your logged in while you connect to that WiFi or if you open the Roblox application etc..? Thanks.

I never had to connect to the WiFi at high school so I’m happy about that, but now for college, it seems I’ll have to connect to the WiFi, but I’m worried that this may trigger an enforcement ban, assuming this WiFi would be shared by thousands of people. How can I prevent this? Does hotspot bypass this? If I connect to it but not open Roblox or the browser where I’m logged in on Roblox, then would I be fine? Any other fellow students here who have advice? Not looking to get into a big mess just because of this. Thanks!

I may have an ancestor named James McCauley from New York who was apparently in the Union Navy during the civil war. He was born in 1841 in Ireland, and passed away in 1905 in New York. Some older folks in the family always heard the story he served on the USS Monitor at some point but I don’t see his name on the list so I think that’s unlikely.

I did find a James McCauley who served on the USS Lackawanna and was mortally wounded due to extreme trauma to the left thigh, so assuming this poor man died, this would definitely be someone else. Curious though where I can confirm he was in the civil war. Thanks!

Hey everybody, for a week straight I was worried on end I had a hernia. I felt this 3-4 fingertip long lump and it’s less than a fingertip wide, it’s linear shaped, above it I feel something similar but it’s even smaller, both on my left side of torso, but only the first lump I described is visible, above the abdominal crease horizontally.

In the mirror when I lean back and forth I can see it move up and down, not out of a supposed hole like a hernia but almost like it’s moving up and down under my skin, perhaps gliding is a better use of words.

When I lay down it shrinks, as I can still feel outline of it when I feel for it. However, the doctor felt it a few times and told me it wasn’t anything to worry about and not a hernia. He explained to me about the basics of hernia, and we briefly chatted about it. I’m 19, and he expressed how uncommon it is in teens. Afterwards, I insisted a bit on a cough test, so I did that, did maybe 3 cough tests and he didn’t feel anything. I mentioned to him that it shrinks but he mentioned it’s nothing to be concerned about. He said if I’m really concerned I can have an ultrasound. I’m a bit uneasy but he is a former ER doctor so I sort of trust him. He also mentioned how he may currently have a small hernia, but watches it. He also kept a record of what I felt just in case it becomes something.

Anyhow, this is partly reassuring, considering I had crippling anxiety about it 24/7 for a week straight, but I still fear it could be a hernia, I mean what else could it be if it shrinks? I think I’ll ask him on the portal thing, but I’m going to consider an ultrasound for peace of mind. For now I’ll try not to panic about it and leave it be, after all it feels like it got more noticeable when I kept touching it so many times, it sort of became a habit.

Anyhow I’m a bit scared because I don’t want to have any complication if it really is a hernia and I’m even more terrified of the idea of surgery. The doctor says it’s not a hernia, but I figure there’s no harm in double checking with an ultrasound.

I’m going to try to stop touching it and watch it for a bit and see what happens, since after all I didn’t even notice the lump until I felt it, and after that I had a whole habit of constantly touching it, which may have inflamed it. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. And if anybody else had an experience similar to this let me know. Plus, if anyone knows what non hernia caused for the shrinking when laying down let me know.

Edit: I realized a few things it could be is a fat pocket or fat nodules, lipomas or fluid like thing.

I’m 19M and recently I noticed this tiny lump above abdominal crease area close to my hip, it feels like a long thin cord and not that wide at all, rather long. Above it is also another cord like lump I feel but it isn’t noticeable from the outside. As I said, both feel like a cord but also like a vein feel, but a little firm but not rock hard. When I lay down I feel pretty much nothing and it goes away. On the opposite side of my abdomen I felt something similar, but not as pronounced. I’m pretty active in the gym and martial arts I’m probably at risk of having one.

I’m seeing a GP in 6 days, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it for days and I hate waiting and worrying, especially when I’m a big hypochondriac with lots of anxiety. I’m scared of surgery and especially anesthesia. I’ve spent all day today checking in back and forth with “doctor google.” Ive been constantly touching that area so perhaps it got worse? Anyhow im pretty worried and it seems hernia surgery can be risky to an extent, some people say they had chronic pain, but anesthesia makes me feel more uneasy. If this truly is a hernia I feel weird since it seems rare in teens.

Anyone have advice or any thoughts?

My American grandparents were teenagers when the war ended (1929 borns) and they were the oldest siblings, so no great uncles or aunts were of age either. Everyone else was too young or too old, although a few people did serve in the military but after the war. My other side of the family lived in both France and the Netherlands, and they had to endure German occupation for years, so that’s not to say that my family wasn’t impacted at all. I do have a great grandfather who was mobilized in 1939 with the French army but France didn’t last long after that and I assume he quickly (fortunately) went back to civilian life in the southern French zone.

While I would consider my family very lucky in the sense they didn’t have to suffer from PTSD as so many veterans did, but I can’t help but feel a bit awkward or left out when most everyone else seems to have a war hero or a veteran who served, and I simply don’t. It may seem pretty ridiculous that I feel this way but it’s a bit of an insecurity I have, considering I’m a big military historian enthusiast and that here in the US, family contributions during the war are often talked about (I know many veterans never talked about the war too) but at the same time I don’t want to feel this way as I still love and admire my family for more important reasons.

I’d imagine quite a bit of people were told to stay home due to deferments and a like. Anyhow, I’m just curious if others can relate and if this is not uncommon for family trees, whether that be on one side of the family or not.

Today I have an appointment so I can receive advice or instructions how to proceed with my scrupulosity, and I’m curious if any of you all or those who’ve had/have scrupulosity have any advice on what to mention or anything a like. Honestly a bit nervous it’ll be awkward if the Priest doesn’t know what scrupulosity is or whatnot. For the record I’m not ruling out professional help but first Thought’d I’d recieve a little spiritual guidance as this has afflicted my life for several months now.
