I say this as, we see in the comics, when Aang cuts his connection with Roku, it disrupts his connection with his other past lives as well, making it harder to connect with them than it would have been.

imagine if something similar happened due to Sonam‘s actions after her death, preventing the water avatar after her from not only connecting with her, but also the other avatars before her would have a hard time being contacted.

that would be so bad for the new water avatar, especially as the world is just starting to form the map and world we all know and love from the original series, and the conflicts and politics would be wild, all with struggling to even connect with their past lives for advice and having to figure things out mostly on their own.

Obviously he likely wasn’t called as he was both busy with operations and also there‘d be no conflict, but if he was, who would he side with upon hearing granddad shay’s concerns And about what happened.

would he tell his dad and say “dad look, I know what happened was terrifying and Spencer is very…eccentric, but he’s my son, and I raised him to be a good person. tell me up until this point, has anything really bad happened under his watch in the years I have been gone? No. I think Spencer is mature enough to realize he made a horrible mistake and will not let it happen again“

or

”Spencer, I love you son….but your granddad might be right. your a great brother to Carley, one of the best any girl could ask for…but as a guardian, you clearly aren’t mature enough. I’m sorry, but I think it is safer if Carley goes to live with your grandad until I return home“

Basically this is what I wondered.

obviously, at the start of Batman beyond in 2019, we see Bruce Wayne retire as Batman after his heart problems kicked in and he was forced to pull a gun on a criminal and threaten him with it. This combined with the horror of having to use the same weapon that killed his parents forced Bruce to retire in his late 50’s- early 60’s.

but you can tell that Bruce at that age is still seemingly in great shape for someone of his age(heart problems notwithstanding). 20 years later, he is walking with cane, showing that his prior injures and years of wear and tear on his bones and muscles caught up with him(also that could be for not being active for 20 years)

but that makes me think. Sat Bruce Wayne didn’t have heart problems and his ticker stayed strong despite his age and continues as Batman, do you think with the lack of strain on his heart and the strength and tech The Beyond suit provided could keep him going for another decade even, maybe even a bit longer…or was Bruce’s time ending shortly anyways? Even if his heart stayed healthy, would his muscles have eventually just given out or his bones not being able to take the hits they used to just do him in just a few years time.

This is something I wonder

as we know, quite a few benders in avatar struggled with learning or using a subending variant of their element(Zuko with lightning, Bolin with metal bending) and it came down to mentality, which is just as important as skill and raw power, both of which Zuko and Bolin did have.

but it did make me thing, for an avatar, with all the raw power of the avatar state and the knowledge of their past lives, could they possibly brute force.

Like as we know, Aang never took to learned metal bending as he never could take to it due to not having the right mindset for it. But he definitely did have the skill from learning under Toph, and the power to back it up as well

So, using Aang as a example, if he had tried to metal bend while using the avatar state, would the increased raw power and the accumulated centuries of knowledge of earth bending be enough to overcome Aang’s own mental block when it comes to metal bending..or are there just some things raw peeper and skill alone can’t over come without the mind for it?

Have Mai Pass away in childbirth, making Zuko is single father having to raise his daughter alone.

i have thought about this as Zuko’s entire life has been one of adversity, struggle, and happiness...and this would fit narratively. he’d likely struggle trying to be a good father in general, for fear of becoming cruel like his father and making her feel worthless like Ozai did him(or the opposite and perhaps giving her too much praise and attention, and making Izumi more like Azula). it make it even worse if he had to do it alone.

Sure Iroh would be there for a time, as we know that Tenzin,Kya, and Bumi knew him personally…but based on what was said, Iroh passed on when they were still in their adolescent years…so eventually Zuko would be on be on his own, or really only have Kiyi and Ursa to help.

now would you want this to happen? Personally, no as I wan Zuko to just have happiness but what do you think?

Like look ok, im not some Jedi defender and I personally couldn’t care what happened to them with this whole purge(except for the children…..that’s regretful)

but we are supposed to just believe Palpatine, the chancellor of that former corrupt republic who has now just declared himself emperor, that the Jedi tried to assassinate him?

we hate the Jedi because they defended the corrupt republic… and that defends my point immensely. the Jedi loved the Republic, or the ideals it used to represent, so much that they would do anything to preserve it, even if that meant becoming generals and crushing us to bring us back into the fold.

and on some campaigns, I saw how many Jedi treated the clones. While the Republic high command saw them as cannon fodder, the Jedi actually did treat them like real living beings , or at least the ones I saw did.

So I call bantha crap on the the now Emperor Palpatine’s story.

Either:

1. the coup never happened.
2. Something did happen where the Jedi made a move that night in the chancellor‘s office…..but it was more justified than what is being told and wasn’t for personal power, but rather something Palpatine had done or was planning to do.

the latter is what I think. I think the Jedi Order saw the writing on the wall before either the corrupt republic senate or our own separatists did….and they tried to stop it, failed, and Palpatine used that as justification to destroy them and then rise to Emperorship.

i don’t know…could just be the ramblings of a man who served a cause that is now dust in the wind…. but I liked to believe that, despite their flaws, the Jedi were trying to in the end do the ultimate good not just for the republic, but for all of us, to try and save us…but failed in trying, but tried they did.

The Northern Air temple was replaced with Teo and his father just being in Omashu instead, leaving the condition and fate of the other three temples up in the air

there are a few things to think:

Sozin sent forces there anyways just in case and they found empty temples

despite what Gyatso said, a few nomads(mainly new borns and their caretakers I’d say) stayed behind and were attacked by smaller forces during the comet or Sozin drew all the forces he could to the southern temple as he knew all of them, or most of them would be there, including the new avatar. when that ended, he picked off the few stragglers after the comet that were waiting in the temples for the others to return.

i wanted to ask this sub, and while I know it is off topic, it does relate to Azula.

how much sympathy do you have for Tarrlock in comparison to Azula?

it is complex I think.

Azula was raised under Ozai’s toxic parenting and came to believe fear and respect were the best and only way to ensure loyalty, and this made Ursa fear her, and ruined her relationship with Zuko, as she was raised to view him as weak, both as a bender and in personality(even if deep down she did love him), and in the end her entire world view built by Ozai came crashing down when Mai and Ty Lee betrayed her and her defeat by Zuko and Katara being the final nail in the coffin.

Tarrlock had it different in many ways. similarly to Ozai, Yakone was harsh on his kids, especially on Tarrlock for his apparent weakness. however he and Noatak both had a good relationship with their mother, who Tarrlock described as a warm caring woman, as Yakone kept their training as weapons of revenge a secret, thus their mother likely never feared them at all Unlike Ursa with Azula.

Noatak also up until the end showed love and care for his younger brother, defending Tarrlock from their father over the years, even as Noatak himself became more cold and distant. even on the night he decides to run away, he defends his brother. it was only after Tarrlock refused to run away with him that Noatak said their father was right and he was weak.

as we know, Their mom was heartbroken over the loss of her first born and Yakone gave up on his quest for revenge and stopped training Tarrlock before passing away only a few years later.

this as we know shaped Tarrlock into becoming who he was as seen in the present day.

my point of view:

i think it was really a lack of a uncle Iroh and any kind of guide to help him in his more advanced years.

Ozai was toxic till the end but he did paint a clear path of what he expected and wanted for Azula even as she was in her mid teens.

meanwhile before Tarrlock even became a teenager, the brother he loved ran away and presumably died, and the last words he ever ever heard from him are that he was weak. his mom became heartbroken. Sure his father stopped pushing him as a weapon and he was basically free to choose his own path at that point, but it came at a cost. the good left with the bad, and basically left Tarrlock alone to figure things out.

and I do think He did with what he did for both power, as he told Korra his fathers mistake was trying to rule the city as a criminal, while Tarrlock entered politics. but I also do think he did genuinely wanted to be seen as the cities savior, and was willing to go to extreme measures to keep the city safe.

Never really thought to announce it in this subreddit but.

i got back into Halloweentown a few months and rediscovered my love for the franchise.

i saw there werent many fics for it out there and I also had a itch for one of my favorite shows from when I was a kid, and after thinking on the concept, and getting a draft, I made:

”HalloweentownX10” a crossover between Halloweenyown and the Cartoon Network animated show Ben 10(the original classic continuity running from 2005-2014)

it will follow Ben having met Marnie and their lives from 13-18 during the course of the four Halloweentown films with Ben along for the ride…and yes it is a romance as well.

currently five chapters in with the first film. it follows as Ben has moved from his hometown of Bellwood a few months prior to the story to Marnie’s town and they became friends, bonding over the supernatural and weird

it has also been two years since Ben had removed the omnitrix to live a normal life His hero days behind him, he just wants focus on his new normal and his friendship with Marnie..as deeper feelings begin to grow. but the reveal of Marnie’s magical heritage and a trip to Halloweentown pulls Ben back into the world of weird As Marnie learns of her legacy and heritage, can Ben still keep being normal? Or will it be time to return to being a hero once again l?

I am going to have fun with this as Ben and Marnie are both similar in many ways. Headstrong, loyal to their friends family at their core, and caring heroes.

i also never liked how they wrote Ben to be such a ass in the latter series, especially from Alien Force season 3 onward. not to say he cant have his moments, but they really took a crap on his development from the first two seasons of alien force. so i am going to write him more consistent

its also gonna be fun with some of the crossover plots( like the third film with the knights of the iron dagger, I’ll have the forever knights from Ben 10 appear cause they are thematically similar), as well as how the portal becoming permanently open and Ben’s secret identity being revealed to the world will clash and deal with magical beings trying to interact with the human world as aliens are already known about.

This is a idea I thought of:

what if the side Zuko chose in Ba Sing Se was not Azula, nor even choosing to side with the Gaang.

the side he chooses…is himself. He wants to return home but it will be on his terms and his alone.

i was thinking Mai visits Zuko in the crystal catacombs earlier before the fight Or something and in this moment, she tells Zuko that she loves him more than she fears Azula( so basically what she said to azula is season 3 but to Zuko instead here) and she wants him to be able to come home..and says she will help him with that, and Ty Lee is willing to help her as well(Ty Lee is a softy and see her friend want the boy she loves home would sway her)

so when the time for the battle comes, it goes the same until the right as Katara escapes with Aang and Iroh is trapped.

Mai and Ty Lee appear out of the shadows and take down Azula, paralyzing her, which she wasn’t expecting.

Zuko tells the Dai Li if they follow him, he will ensure his father keeps them in their grand positions of power. who knows if they agree but say they do.

a message is sent to Ozai by Zuko saying he killed the avatar, Azula tried betraying him but he stopped her, and he wished to come home.

who knows if Ozai would believe this(most likely not) but if he does… how does Zuko’s arc pan out with Zuko have all he wanted and more now that Azula is no longer in the picture and is now locked up as a traitor.

Would he still follow the same redemptive arc he did? And what of Iroh? I could see Zuko lying to make sure Iroh doesn’t go to prison for helping Katara escape…then again he was already seen as a traitor for what happened at the siege of the northern water tribe so he may still wind up in jail.
