How to write a hardcore punk song (tutorial w/ examples)
- 400 BPM
- Guitars strum on quarter notes and switch chords every two beats
- Vocalist speaks a word each quarter note (speak for 7 beats, rest on 8th beat)
The Cars - "Drive" (did Glenn like this song?)
While listening to The Cars' 1984 hit "Drive", I cannot help but reminisce "Sistinas". Here is a brief mashup.
Godsmack vs Danzig
It's great that Danzig was able to inspire so many bands and genres throughout the years (punk / hardcore in the 80's w/ Misfits, Metallica wore Misfits T-shirts). It's good to see bands paying homage to Danzig.
"Three Mile Smile" vs "Shela" (which sounded better?)
In "Three Mile Smile," Aerosmith guitarists Brad Whitford and Jimmy Crespo both contributed guitar solos. To Brad's disappointment, Steven Tyler ultimately selected Jimmy's solo for the final cut. Interestingly, Brad's composition "Shela" features the same rhythmic riff behind its solo as "Three Mile Smile." Given that Brad co-soloed on "Shela" alongside Joe Perry, could it be that he played the unused solo he originally crafted for "Three Mile Smile"?
Danzig Prefers Old Aerosmith
Danzig also covered "Lord of the Thighs" on the 2015 covers album Skeletons.
