Is there a way to know what percentile you are for elo for rand bats?

I want to know how strong a certain elo is (like top x% of players or whatever) and was wondering if there's a way to figure that out.

What's important about a portfolio/personal project on the resume?

I'm an incoming CS major and need to find internships soon. I was thinking about building some projects, but I'm interested on what's actually important in a personal project. Do recruiters look for real stats (like a personal project that actually got downloads/users)? Or are they looking for technically impressive stuff? What makes a portfolio project "good"?

day 1 of coding girls last tour stuff

lowkey unemployed asf recently so i decided to make some coding projects inspired by my fav series before going to uni. tday i coded a new tab extension that's girls last tour inspired. it has the time, a quote from the show/manga, some background ambience you can turn off, and a journal (basically a to-do list).

it has no monetization and no data collection. just a fun project from a beginner dev lol. check it out if yall got the opportunity! here's the link: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/last-tour-shoujo-shuumats/fpfajepgnbicdpfddfjdicneoombjgmp

feedback is always appreciated. gimme suggestions for more cool glt inspired coding projects i can make. still not over crying from the ending

Made my first chrome extension

When I was a kid I used to be obsessed with pokemon showdown, so I made my first chrome extension about it. It's called Showdown Luck Analyzer and just analyzes how lucky you were (crits, misses, status rolls, etc) vs. your opponent.

Was really cool making something that people might actually use and going through the actual dev steps process, esp as someone going into CS for uni. There's no monetization or data collection; it's just a fun project. Here's the link if you wanna check it out: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/showdown-luck-analyzer/dpppoinaggjobhnjpkdhgafddnejlepd

lowkey javascript was easier than i thought to learn (i only used to do python). tbh it was more math-based than code-heavy, but I'm interested in math so it helps a lot. you guys have any UI or code feedback? here's the github repo btw: https://github.com/influxtion/Pokemon-Showdown-Luck-Calculator

Created a replay analyzer Google Chrome extension for Pokemon Showdown

The extension is called Hindsight - Showdown Replay Analyzer

I'm a beginner programmer studying CS and wanted to make this cool project for fun. It has absolutely 0 monetization, takes 0 data, and does pretty much nothing else than analyze pokemon showdown replays. If you have a second, check it out! It definitely has some limitations, but it's an ok start imo. It displays a momentum graph with statistics and key, important turns as best as possible from the replay, like an end game statistics screen for League of Legends or Chess. It's mostly for people who want to see how well they did in a game and what they could improve on.

I don't think it is accurate enough for high elo games because of the JSON file limitations of replays, but I think it's ok for the time being. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions to improve it! If you have time, checking it out would mean the world to me. It's my first extension.

How do you actually start tutoring?

I am in Ontario (Waterloo region) and want to start tutoring when I go to university in the fall. I have very strong academics. I have a 1580 SAT, 98% average, 5s in all APs I've taken (including big ones like AP Calc BC, AP Physics C: Mech, etc), and have never struggled, ever, with academics. I got into every single top program/universtiy in Canada minus the health science ones (never had any interest in them), and am now studying at Waterloo for Software Engineering, arguably the hardest or second hardest program to get into in all of Canada. I have strong extracurriculars as well and have volunteer tutoring experience for up to 3 years.

The problem is, we have no connections in Canada (we're recent immigrants; have a PR now, but still not as integrated into the community). I am also moving to Waterloo, which is, well, pretty dead, and I know no families there. I don't even know where to start with tutoring. Where do I even post? Do I go to one of those online tutoring orgs and sign up as a tutor? How much do I charge?

Can I drop a class now?

Lowkey haven't been to bio in ages and I don't really see a point. I'm probably going to fail the course. I alr got into waterloo software engineering. I will have 30+ credits (enough to graduate). Bio is not a prereq, and all my prereqs are already in order. Can I legit just withdraw? I'm 99% sure I will fail the class. Will this affect any offers? Will this have any impact at all on the future?

How do people go to the US for coops at Waterloo?

I mean in terms of visas (TN/J1) for CS at Waterloo. Is it viable? Or do you now need Waterloo software engineering because of the TN software engineer specification crackdowns?

SE vs CS

I hate to ask this bc it's been asked like a thousand times, but I legit got 1 day left to decide and I have no idea what to pick and was hoping to get some opinions from people in the programs. I know CS has an easier workload but SE has the cohort system so making friends is easier. I also know SE might have slight edge when applying to visas in the US? I also heard SE gets better placements, but that might not necessarily be because of the SE name.

For reference, I'm really interested in start-ups and want to make a lot of friends. I know almost no one going in (my school is small and sends literally no one to anywhere except the local university), so I'm worried I might have some trouble finding friends. I'm also living in suite so that might reduce my odds even more. I don't like circuit and hardware courses or the sciences, but I think I can tolerate them. The main attraction to SE is the cohort system and how easy it is to make friends.

What do you guys think?

▲ 15 r/AMA

I went to one of the most expensive private schools in South Korea before moving to a small city public school in Canada. AMA.

I used to go to one of the biggest, most well-known international schools in Korea costing about 40k-50k/year. Very rich and famous people send their children here, including heirs of giant companies, children of the best doctors in the country, and celebrity kids. A couple years ago, I moved to a small city and a small, little bit low quality school in Canada. I have friends that are very wealthy heading to the Ivy Leagues and those who have to go into deep debt for just first year tuition at the local university in the city. It's totally jarring.

Glt cosplay?

I love girls last tour. It's easily my favorite anime/Manga oat and the only piece of media ever i've cried too (since grade 4 when I cried after Dumbledore died lol). I want to cosplay smth in the show. Only problems are, I'm a guy and this is my first cosplay. The characters are obviously female centric and the cast is very small, so I'm not sure what to cosplay. I'm not a big fan of kanazawa tbh and don't wanna cosplay him. Anything more abstract might be hard to pull off as a first cosplay.

Any ideas?

Software Engineering or CS?

I'm a high schooler going to Waterloo and was wondering which degree would fit better. I'm also pretty worried about the job market tbh; I know Waterloo's a top school, but there's so much talk about how hard it is and how everyone is struggling. Software engineering has a bunch of useless courses imo and a larger workload, but it does have the advantage of a cohort system. Any thoughts?

How in the world do you counter heimerdinger?

I genuinely don't know what to do against this champ. His little turrets do way too much damage for me to actually fight him. I can't close the distance because he has the freest stun and instant damage KO I've seen in my life. I'm always down at least 40 cs and probably at least 2 kills. Without jungler intervention, there's legit just no way I can win this lane. Who do I play against this guy?? I main chogath and mundo but I'm willing to learn/play literally any champion to beat this guy.

Small waist clothing?

I have a pretty slim waist but usually wear baggy clothes, so it's hard to find pants that wrap around me and don't just slip down. Does anyone know any streetwear brands/clothes that are still baggy but have a tight waist? I'm about 175 cm tall. I don't want to wear belts (they're uncomfortable imo). Any advice?

Made a website with custom champion building, pixelated art guessing, and more minigames

I was scrolling tiktok when I saw a bunch of those "champion building" minigames where you take Q, W, E, R, etc from a random champion with a spinning portrait animation (couldn't find it online though), so I had the idea to build a website with a bunch of those minigames on there. I'm a high schooler going into university this year and wanted to gain some programming experience. The website is completely free without cookies or ads.

Some minigames there are:

- Champion Builder (take Q, W, E, R, passive, model from a random champion)

- Stat Builder (take a stat from a random champion; your final score is based on the percentile averages of each stat)

- Fog of War (pixelated art guessing game, you guess what champion the art is, and it gets less and less pixelated every wrong guess)

- Higher or Lower (release date, # of skins, in-game difficulty, etc)

You can find it at https://www.statrift.com/ . I really like how the animations and stuff turned out lol. If you have some time to kill or want to film one of those tiktoks, this is a free and easy site to use.

Am I shaving wrong? What to do about a highlighted philtrum?

18m Asian for reference. My philtrum (and to an extent the chin) is always really dark and highlighted. When I zoom up, there's always teensy tiny hairs sticking out. For reference, all these pictures were taken just now, 10 minutes after a shave (except for the last one, which is a reference for what I want to have).

Everyone around me doesn't have this highlighted of a shadow. The last slide is an example of a random guy on instagram I just found. How did he get that smooth philtrum and chin area?

No one ever taught me to shave. My routine is washing my face with warm water, throwing some shaving gel, then shaving. No matter how hard I push or how many times I shave, the little hairs don't come off. Maybe my razor is just bad? Any recommendations? Mine is pretty cheap lol. Or maybe make up is needed? I'm not against it; any recommendations? I just want this to go away and get me a photo I don't look self conscious in...

tl;dr: how the hell do you get a clean shave?

Are anime wallpapers still weird?

Yeah, yeah, I know, who cares what others think, blah blah blah. But I'm asking you personally. Would you be weirded out?

Thinking of changing my phone lockscreen to a girls last tour (an anime) wallpaper. It's not sexual at all and is one of my most favorite shows of all time. The art is beautiful in the Manga and none of the characters are even remotely sexualized.

Would you internally be weirded out if you saw that on my phone? Or get a bad/unwanted impression? Or would that not being your taste be enough to go "i won't judge but nah"? I get being weirded out by like a Rezero wallpaper or even demon slayer wallpaper, but this is a little different imo.

Edit: for reference, these are the wallpapers I was considering if you wanted to see: https://www.reddit.com/r/GirlsLastTour/comments/13my0s7/coloured_versions_of_the_last_page_fits_as_a/

Very different style from traditional anime tbh, and the drawings are from the manga.
