How does glide relate to point of pressure?

This isn't about form, but does have an impact on mentality and form. Feel free to take it down, but I think the technicality of this subreddit might be of use to this question, so just cross posting it here:

So I know there is this point that moves on a disc creating lift. As the disc is moving faster it is farther back and slower it is farther forward, creating turn and fade. AI search says its called the point of pressure, so I'll call it PoP for now.

In terms of PoP what is glide?

  1. Is it how much force is applied to the PoP?
  2. Is it how quickly the PoP moves from the back to the front at different speeds and spins? So higher glide would be slower transition from turn to fade?
  3. Or obviously, something else?

I realize there are other non-PoP contexts. Like the description from Innova,

>"Glide describes the discs ability to maintain loft during flight. Discs with more glide are best for new players, and for producing maximum distance. Beginners wanting more distance should choose discs with more glide. Discs with less glide are more accurate in high wind situations."

I'm wondering if there is a more technical PoP contextual description of glide.

Is objective morality based on axioms that are subjectively accepted or rejected?

For example "harming others is wrong" could be considered "generally accepted" which would could make it an axiom, but accepting it is still subjective. People could claim other values are "generally accepted" which then would have to be axiomatically/subjective accepted. Is objective morality not just merely implying, "We think our values are the important values in morality"? Like all other moralistic debates subjectivity would then be apparent. One person might say "harming others is wrong" another might say, "the continuation of the species is paramount" and then whether it is moral to harm others for the sake of continuing the species could be a debate, same as all morality.

Not exactly the same, but I think related,: Do objective moralists have custom definitions of "objective" and "moral"? But (as in countless philosophical arguments) then use the words "objective" and "moral" equivocally with their meanings outside the objective moralist definition?

2 Disputes about Finale

  1. I thought the series, MAYBE just the last two seasons Carmie is very intentionally painted as autistic/on the spectrum.

I think this is part of the art of story telling. Depicting our modern understanding of autism. People who can exist in society. And exist differently, but not necessarily in the same manner as down-syndrome Corkie. Which I think is a modern stigma many people carry today. I don't want to look up every reference and reason. I'm not saying Carmie is like Corkie, I'm saying the point of whoever wrote Carmie, is partly that he is autistic and very talented and "successful" and complex, but still has specific differences from non autistic people.

The series is definitely showing he has psychological trauma as well, which autistic people have to deal with as well. But my buddy thinks Carmie's unsocial behavior is solely because of trauma, non related to autism.

  1. The last episode, Carmie's interview is a bit, a joke. I thought it was hilarious commentary on men not going to therapy. The entire season Carmie is so introspective and trying to grow and "break habits", he talks to Dulaney's character like he is anxious to go to therapy. Then he spills his guts how we imagine people spilling their guts to a therapist. Not feeling good enough, and not enjoying this skill he excels at, not seeing his value only other's value. Then we learn it is a job interview for an architecture firm. To me the scene had two points 1) A hilarious bit, commentary on men not going to therapy and 2) an exposition on Carmie's current inner thoughts/motivations.

My buddy reluctantly admitted it was deliberately misleading towards therapy, but it was less of a joke and more of clever misdirection encouraging the viewer to think about the psychology that led Carmie to apply to an archecture firm and that he is coming to a realization that he is passionate about cooking. To me the fact it was an architecture interview was fairly irrelevant, it was just a setting for the set up of the joke and to show his inner thoughts. It did not feel like he was coming to a realization or changing his mind about anything.

Pull-ups to Muscle-up

I can only do 5 pull-ups. I have strength to build.

BUT at the top of my pull-up my nose, maybe chin are getting above the bar. But even with 1 pull-up I can't get my chest bar height. It feels like a limited anatomical or technique issue more than a strength issue. If it is strength, I feel like I need to work on the specific muscles for that part of the pull up vs the whole pull up. Are there specific muscles to target for going from nose even with the bar to chest even with the bar? I'm assuming I could just use explosiveness with muscles prior to that height, but I feel like people can do it slowly.

Good line for coworker bumping into me?

In a work environment where I'm not often bumped into, but its close quarters and very reasonable to bump into coworkers. The other day a coworker bumped into me several times. Any good lines for checking the temp on that? Whether its flirting or an honest accident?

Best reusable respirator for running?

I'm just trying to continue exercising outside while the AQI is high. I don't want to spend a ton on a disposable mask/respirator. And I want a mask/respirator that isn't going to jostle while running. It seems like a good seal whlie moving is paramount. An n99, n100, p2, p3 mask seem helpful, not necessarily because 99 percent filtration is necessary over 95, but because those higher percent filtration masks seem like they may have better fits/seals than an n95. I am no confident the kn95 I have right now is able to seal well enough to be fully 95 percent filtrating.

BUT, it seems possible there could be good light weight sports/running designed half mask reusable respirators too. For those anything with a filtration rating of 95 or above seems like it'd be fine.

Any opinions, advice or experience with running with these masks in a poor AQI?

Most reliable info on muscle gain/loss?

I've heard without hormones/steroids you're not going to gain more than 1lb of muscle a month. Does anyone have conflicting knowledge about this, or a source of how this knowledge came to be (not just a link to someone else making the claim).

Video just said in 2 months you can lose 3lbs of muscle. Is this accurate? I guess it's pretty obvious if you're in a enough of a calorie deficit the body is going to break down muscle. But like how much of a deficit do you have to be in to lose 3lbs of muscle? If you're not in a deficit, how quickly do you lose muscle? Does anyone have information, like graphs of the relationships between caloric deficit, lack of weight lifting, and muscle loss?

I don't get sex talk....

I like sex. But...like...I'm a very non verbal person. I just want to do stuff to a partner and have them do stuff to me. Whenever I hear about what people say during sex, it always sounds performative and insincere. Like...I see couples flirting and I could see how talking flirtatiously and rifting off each other like a good conversation would be hot. But what I read and hear isn't like hot conversations, its sound bitey, "I'm saying this because I heard its hot when people say it" kind of stuff.

Can we create demand for gigabit internet?

I live in New Center, just north of the Fisher. I would really really like to pay for AT&T gigabit fiber instead of xfinity. Any suggestions for showing AT&T theres a demand for it?

Gmaps inaccurate satellite info?

I'm on google maps on firefox on my pc. I have it set to satellite. Below the images it says imagery(some symbol) 2026 airbus..........2026 Google. But the images are clearly not from 2026, *it seems likely they're 2023.

Is this a google error? Rollback for some sort of security? Or something else?

There are several construction projects that were finished in the summer of 2025, and 2 of them are not only not there, they're not started, and another one seems barely started. Palmer Park's dog park and band stand are non-existent in the photo. The hudson building is under construction. (started in 2017)

Edit*There seems to be construction starting on the dog park in the image, the dog park was opened in the late summer of 2023. So I'm guessing the image is early to mid summer 2023.

Advice for Reading Method?

I'm reading Peter Godfrey-Smith's Theory and Reality. I am currently taking notes as I read. It is taking a long time. I am finding the book not difficult to read, but dense in good information to take notes on. I consider whether I need to take notes on something P G-S says, and I find myself making the argument in my head, that P G-S seems to already be distilling so much information (for me) and that its good to go slow and try to absorb everything slowly.

BUT

I used to do well in school academically (not in philosophy) and I feel like I learned alot just be reading without taking notes. I am tempted to just read the book through, which would yield grasping large concepts, and maybe concepts that confirm my biases. And maybe absorb new, dense, and more subtle concepts less.

What are people's opinions on grasping philosophical information? Do you find it the same as other academia, do you find taking notes and/or slowing more relevant, needing to really understand subtlety and minutia? Where as like....calculus or biology is somewhat less subtle concepts and more concrete standards.

Trying to find lost Chrono Music from abandoned game/youtube video?

I've been listening to Chrono music on youtube for years. I love love love chrono trigger music. I really like chrono cross music alot too.

  1. There was this one youtube video of music from a chrono game from over 10 years ago that I believe was never made, but had music made for it. I don't believe it was Chrono Resurrection or Chrono Ark. I don't think it was Chrono Break, but I can't find the music for that, so not sure. Any other ideas of Chrono games to look for? Or where I could find Chrono Break music?

  2. There was another youtube video years old, probably around 10 years old that had chrono trigger music, chrono cross music, and a third game in it. Aynone remember that?

Dumbell Row Form to avoid Hernia?

I'm doing dumbell rows. Trying to keep some anterior pelvic tilt, both feet on the ground with the non weight lifting hand on the back of a chair about (standing up straight) waist height. I feel like a staggered stance with my lifting side foot further back, feels more stable than both feet non staggered. I try to focus on pulling the weight back into my pocket using the lat opposed to a curl using the bicep.

While doing this I get a weird feeling in my abdomen. It might just be a weird core muscle fatiguing? But it feels less like sore muscle cramps I'm familiar with and more like a rumbling/quivering around my belly button. I'm just trying to be safe in case that is a hernia like symptom.

With my feet staggered, it does seem like maybe I'm using my core some more than I would if I weren't staggered. Minorly twisting back as I pull with my lat. When my feet are not staggered though, it feels like my center of gravity is only on my weight pulling foot and not distributed between me two feet.

Obviously there are tons of videos that show good form for these dumbell rows. I feel like my form isn't that far off. Is there any specific thing to focus on form to avoid hernia's/putting stress on intestines?

I'm looking for a security camera that has no wireless connectivity. I am just looking to monitor my room while I'm gone. Ideally, something that just has an internal microsd card. I would also be ok with hooking up the camera to a pc (with a wired connection) if need be. I'm looking for the cheapest camera I can buy that will have clear video, I'm not sure what the standards are, something 30-60fps 1080p would be nice, but a little lower quality is ok, if it is much cheaper.

Edit* Ideally something closer to 40 dollars than 200. But if 200 is the cheapest for something like this, it'd be good to get that confirmation too.

Edit**I guess I mean no internet connectivity at all. Ethernet cable to a closed circuit would be fine (if somehow not expensive and not sure how that works) but ethernet to a an internet enabled router would be no go.

It's insanely easy to find cheap 40 dollar camera's WITH wifi, I want it to have no wifi or bluetooth. Any suggestions?
