Fringe review - top picks
Had an amazing time, saw 25 shows over 4 days. Did about 80,000 steps all together because I planned so poorly. Saw some exceptionally talented and smart people and more cock and balls than I had previously anticipated! I think the fomo for things I didn’t get to see is inevitable but I’ve made a list of things/people I hope will be touring or I’ll get to see another time.
Thanks to people on this sub for all the great recommendations. Absolutely loved the following:
Kirsty Mann corpse
One man musical
Creepy boys: slugs
Man sings the same song over and over again for an hour
Mike rice (who I “saw” at comedy in the dark but I believe has his own show)
Garry Starr, classic penguins
The shocking truth about flat earth- if the actor who played Bobby is on Reddit- hi 🙈
Paddy Young: will sir be laughing alone
KeVIN!!!!
Stamptown
Special mention for the bad magicians improv show which was…an experience I had.
There were a few I was a slight let down by but those can remain nameless.
Worst character right now
I am sick of hearing this man just shout in every scene. Such a one note character I’ve started skipping through any time he’s on screen
Poseidon: let’s grow ourselves a big lanky one eyed freak
Caught up on s15. Takeaways
My main thoughts:
all of these women have shown again this year that you only have anything to film when the cast is emotionally illiterate and stunted. The actual arguments are over absolutely nothing and I don’t understand why any of these women feel so aggrieved by one another when nobody has done anything that bad. And Dorit is the worst for it- it’s maddening how she does not listen.
Mauricio with Kyle at their old house- It’s like he never loved her and that their life together meant absolutely nothing to him.
Why was Natalie there?
Jennifer Tilly remains a complete queen. Such a genuinely quirky character, compared to Kathy where it seems put on.
I skipped past all the Amanda scenes.
Rachel Zoe is an excellent addition!
S16 cast should be Kyle, Jennifer, Erika, Rachel, a Lisa Rinna return and another antagonist to be identified. Camille and Kathy as friends of.
Edinburgh fringe
Review my fringe picks, Im wondering if I’m missing anything that I’d really enjoy (and I don’t have much stand up planned) but the amount of choice is overwhelming. Also want to leave some space for random shows
Wednesday 12 August
Suitcase Show
Kirsty Mann: Corpse
One Man Musical
Man Sings the Same Song Over and Over Again for an Hour
Bigfoot Ripped My Dog In Half I Saw It
Creepy Boys: SLUGS
Thursday 13 August
Macbeth: Blood and Bluegrass
Garry Starr: Classic Penguins
Friday 14 August
A Ghost Among the Living
...Earnest?
Julian Clary: Fully Dilated
Paddy Young: Will Sir Be Laughing Alone?
Saturday 15 August
Lil' Miss Kate – Ward of the State
Daniel Sloss: BITTER
Stamptown
Must watch- funboys
Two short series now on iPlayer. So very daft and funny!
This weeks episodes
Was this week meant to be a big reset week for eastenders because it’s been a total flop and a bore.
Circling the drain with Max and now they’ve dragged an actually decent character into it with Priya.
George’s storyline shockingly dull it was inevitable he was going to leave his dad to die and I felt nothing for anyone concerned.
Be nice to see Gina have something to do that isn’t heavy handedly talking about race too.
Come friendly bombs and fall on this subreddit, it isn’t fit for humans now
Zack’s monstrously short trousers and white sock combo 😬
Theatre recommendations
Hi everyone
First time at fringe this year. Coming 12th-15th August looking to see a mix of shows. Does anyone have any good theatre recommendations. I’m looking for plays and dramas/comedies. Love horror, farce, musicals and experimental stuff but any suggestions welcome :)
