So, The New Left Lane Law......

Yesterday at 3pm on 95 north, coming over The Baldwin bridge from Old Saybrook, both lanes were full of cars moving mostly at the same speed like a freight train. How can the police enforce the new law when there really isn't enough room for the volume of vehicles on the highway?

Lamont's first general-election attack ad links Fazio to Trump, ICE

The ad is referring to a law passed in 2026 with a provision aimed at ICE that defines schools, hospitals, courthouses and places of worship as “protected areas” where law enforcement cannot make an arrest without a judicial warrant. Fazio, a state senator, and every other Republican opposed the bill, as did a few Democrats.

50% of CT residents say their finances are worsening, survey says

Fifty percent of Connecticut residents believe that they are worse off financially than they were a year ago, another sign of the state’s high cost of living, according to a new survey from the research arm of the Connecticut Business & Industry Association.

The financial strain emanates from rising costs. Nearly 90% of state residents said that their household expenses have increased in the past year — with groceries, gasoline, electricity, health care and housing looming as the greatest pressures, according to the CBIA Foundation for Economic Growth & Opportunity’s 2026 Summer/ Fall Connecticut Consumer Outlook.

Continuous Closure of the I-95 Northbound Exit 74 On-Ramp

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that the Exit 74 northbound on ramp will be closed for two (2) weeks. It is anticipated that the ramp will be closed from September 10 and reopen on September 24, 2026. This closure is necessary to facilitate final construction of the northbound auxiliary lane between Exits 74 and 75.

CTDOT Project No. 0044-0156 was awarded to Manafort Brothers at a cost of $148,000,000 on February 1, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.
