First 30k Miles

We’ve owned Hondas and Acuras for close to 30 years. We’ve been blessed to be able to “upgrade” to the higher-end Acuras and we have been super happy with our 2024 MDX Type S during its first 30k miles. No issues and great service at Gillman Acura North.

Honest Opinions Only Requested

Two years ago, my wife and I were in the market for two kayaks. We live on the Texas Gulf Coast, and we would largely be spending time in brackish/saltwater. While the Oru brand intrigued me, we ultimately decided to buy two traditional kayaks (i.e., sit-in, closed cockpit, 12’ in length). We love these kayaks and they have served us well.

Here’s the thing: we live in SE Texas and from June to September it’s brutally hot and humid, and it takes a lot of effort to get these kayaks off and on the roof rack. By the time we get them in the water, which is usually close to 90°, I’m wiped out.

What is appealing about the Oru kayaks is their portability and ease of set up. My initial concern was durability and reliability (i.e., at the end of the day the Oru kayak is a foldable boat). I have also researched them enough to know there are different models for different types of water conditions.

TL;DR - would you recommend an Oru kayak, and what is the basis for the recommendation.

Sweet Ride

Why for the love of Pete’s sake do people do this to their cars. C’mon people, you can put someone’s eye out with that.

For some reason “The Distance” by Cake comes to mind. “Reluctantly crouched at the starting line, engines pumping and thumping in time…”

I have followed this sub for a while, and I have drawn several good ideas from it. My new setup is the culmination of those inspiring posts.

About a month ago, I posted that this sub had inspired me to reboot my Mac setup, and I posted a picture of the result (see first pic). As I continued to delve deeper into this and other subs, I decided to make some "adjustments", culminating with the addition of my Mac Studio M4 Max. The second set of pictures is the final (well, almost final) result. I still have some serious cable management to contend with.

Stay thirsty my friends.

The installation was a success. I cleaned the installation area with 70% IPA and I applied 3M Adhesion promoter. I also used the 3D printed install tool to make sure the strip was positioned properly.
