Steam deck keeps crashing in the underdust elevator

I’ve been having an absolutely amazing time playing this game, only for the steam decks limits to stop me from being able to progress and play any further. I have lowered all graphics settings to the lowest possible and turned off airship sway etc etc, and I managed to make it to the underdust once before the game crashed again within 5 seconds. How do I fix this so I can keep playing? Is it a memory issue? Is it just the steam deck? I looked it up and it seems to be a known problem, but I still don’t know how to fix it. Please help thank you

What happened to Goumang after we left her there

Kinda lore ish but after the Goumang fight Yi put one of the mind control devices on her and just left, and we never heard anything about her since. Was she just left there the entire rest of the game? Was Yi capable of actually making her do anything else while under his control? Or did she just die of blood loss after a while? When I originally played I thought it would come in later and we would force her to fight alongside us somehow, even if she didn’t have legs anymore

Some Palm pal suggestions

They should make more palm pals, like a blueberry palm pal. We have lots of fruit, why no blueberry?

Also since we have a lemon, we should have a lime. And since we have a peach, we should have a plum. Just swap the fabric colors

My favorite fruit is mango, I wish we had a mango palm pal

A grapefruit slice similar to the orange slice would also be cute, nice and pink

Do solarians have “breeds” like real world cats do?

Do solarians have different “breeds” or maybe races/ethnicities in their case? Would they be regarded differently socially?

We already know solarians can be objectively speciesist from >!the enslaving and discriminating against the entire human race!< but did that ever extend to their own kind? (Don’t mind me pulling up at near midnight asking about alien cat racism)

On another note, wondering what other cat breeds would look like as solarians. Specifically breeds like sphinxes or mane coons, ones we don’t really see in game to my knowledge. Could be interesting to explore

Inky Cap Mushrooms

There’s a species of mushroom irl that looks like it’s dripping with black ink called an inkycap, I’ve always found them super cool and if they were added they could also be a better way to get mass amounts of black dye without wither farming

They usually grow rarely in open fields, but in Minecraft they might be better suited to the pale garden or something similar if the pale garden is already too full of exclusive blocks

Big version could be the regular stem with black and white mushroom blocks that slope more downward for the cap

Basically for black dye and goth aesthetic

I just beat the game on the easiest difficulty while thinking it was default

I started playing my first playthrough on normal difficulty, then decided to just tone the damage down a bit once I ended up getting my shit rocked over and over. I thought the damage taken scale worked the other way around, as in the more I increased the slider, the less damage I took. I gradually decreased the slider until it was at 0% by the time I was at around the 5th sol. I beat an entire playthrough like this, thinking I was just that cracked at the game. I’m laughing about it now, but I’m still finding it absurd because now I’m back on actual normal difficulty and once again getting my shit rocked. I think I’ll gradually increase the slider as I practice in all the past battles as well as a second playthrough to gradually get gud… still baffled by the entire experience

Weird dream I had last night

Had a dream last night where I was in a bar or something and a Qu walked in. I questioned why and how they were there, and they said chill, they’re just getting a drink, but they also revealed that the Qu actually have existed on earth for a long time, and have genetically manipulated humanity for a while. When I asked further about it, they just said “why do you think you have elephants” …?

I think they implied in the dream that apparently what we know as humanity was not original humanity at all, but another after-species that naturally evolved from what the Qu made, much like the canon All Tomorrows evolved species of humans

So that was… odd

Idea I came up with for an alternate Lady Ethereal fight before I actually saw the fight

So, I’m a bit late to the party, and still on my first playthrough. I got through Lady Ethereal’s dream sequence, then took a break from the game for a few days right before fighting her. During that time, I thought it would be fun to come up with my own ideas for what the fight could be like before I saw it for myself

I never predicted a moth/bug motif, and more thought it could be a dream sequence that slowly turned into lab/body horror type thing as the fight progressed. It would start with the dream version of Lady Ethereal that would in turn act as a physical shield, and Yi would have to go to specific points on the battlefield to lower this shield and reveal more and more of the “real” aesthetic past the dream facade

As the phases continue more and more attacks would become “nervous system” themed and would branch out more, eventually by the final phase covering the whole map and having Yi stand (or jump) to various spots to avoid being hit

I also had the idea of an attack that instead of damaging, it would invert player controls for a short period of time

The actual fight was not what I expected at all, and tbh I would have rather had my version, although I will admit I did really like the moth theme and it was super fun chaining parries from various different attacks in all directions

Looking for a conlang like Tendrilis?

I found the conlang Tendrilis and I really like it, though now I’m looking for another one similar, that’s aquatic/tentacle themed but I can’t find anything

I would make my own but I don’t know how to make it visibly tentacles without making it too bulky and inconsistent to write

About the Biologist in Authority/Acceptance

So, after starting to read Acceptance I got so shaken by it that I had to look up spoilers to continue. Apparently, even though it says the version of the Biologist that comes back isn’t really the original Biologist, and the original got… uhh, turned into an eldritch whale?

Which, like, super weird but okay, but like… is she okay? Is there even a way to tell if she’s mentally okay? I don’t know, it’s just I have become attached to this character and honestly don’t care what happens to her as long as she’s, like, chill with it in the end? Is that weird?

Don’t dead bodies…

…not actually decompose in a bog? Did the area where the Surveyor’s body was dumped not count as a true bog? Shouldn’t the Biologist know about bogs before dumping a body in one? Is there just a preserved body underwater somewhere? I haven’t read the other books in the series yet besides annihilation so no spoilers plz

Just finished Annihilation, does the Biologist ever make some kind of reappearance?

I know at the end of Annihilation it said that their story was over, but I just love the character and wish for more anyway. I’d still probably love the other books anyway if she doesn’t, but I’m still curious (no spoilers for other books please)

If someone died and got revived years later would they still hold a funeral

I know that the answer is probably no, but I still think it would be interesting in my writing to have a funeral for someone who is literally present and alive

I just don’t know how to make it work

Did they use generative ai for the remaster?

I heard they used ai for the remaster. To what extent? Like, full generative ai (which I am strongly against) or just some type of cgi like ai? Will any future horizon games use it?

What was Emily doing during the whole prime candidate program and all the “studies” on Dylan? I saw that Darling hid the whole hedron thing from her, but she was his assistant, she had to be involved with Dylan, right? Did she just go along with it, unaware of what was actually happening to him? She had to have thought that at least a bit of it was suspiciously cruel? We don’t actually get anything about their relationship with each other

Title. I’m writing a part and I have a few plot points but they have lots of time in between them. I’m trying to lengthen it to show a particular character development over time as it’s the entire point of the story but when I try to do that every chapter just ends up being the same thing and it gets so boring. Should I just timeskip? Am I doing character growth wrong? I thought about adding a b plot but I just have no idea what to add

The character development in question is a main character is suddenly revived from the dead and has to slowly adjust to being alive. It’s important that it takes a long time, but I don’t know how to show it
