How do we feel about Zenestras Zeloten

While the competition might seem a little strange I think its something that might actually work decently. With the whole spearhead depending heavily on enough bodies to die to generate mortal wounds, aswell as the prayer.

I know a lot of people say cities of sigmar in general struggles a lot in spearhead and this might be a funny little thing to play but I can see how it pairs horrible against anything that can heal making yhe sacrificed models pointless for there damage.

Do you think 2 Cogforts is "doable"?

So I got my push to get into cities with the new Models, I snagged myself the last Christmas box a few months ago, 2 of the cities of ash spearheads so I think I got a good core going, id like to pick up some more fusiliers but yeah.

I adore the cogforts and I managed to save up enough to preorder 2, one for each version but yeah I was suprised by the points aswell considering how the announcement went. Do you think 1 canonade and 1 conquer is still "doable" to still have a reliable enough shooty core army? Since it pretty much limits me to 1000 points left.

After spending the whole Saturday with multiple people and different armies trying out cities of ash i wanted to write a little review of my impression on it since spearhead is one of my favorite formats and I hope this maybe helps someone who is on the edge towards buying it!

Cities of ash feels like a step in the right direction towards spearhead! After adoring fire and jade i found sand and bone besides the terrain a bit lack luster especially the cards felt a bit to generic.

Im happy to say that City of ash Majorly improved on that point and switches up the play in interesting ways!

Cities of ash relies on a new "Relic" mechanic. Different items that appear on the board which give buffs but can also provide fun dynamics towards to board, depending on the Board side you start with 2 different Starting relics while others appear as part of the Twist decks.

From a manhole you can teleport in your own area, to a barricade to block shooting attacks there are interesting advantages to picking the right ones and getting lucky!

The player decks are this time around not only differently designed on the back so no more mixing up player cards! But also mix in wonderfully with the relics! From our Usual objectives to securing a certain objective, killing a general, to having control of more relics or more units in the center then the enemy! The card effects are also fun from basically making a relic on the map explode, dealing D3 metals to enemies and friendlies on top of them, to effects that let you select a relic as a valid charge target letting you get in a dash towards a sometimes valuable objective or buff!

The Objective play is a bit harder on these maps compared to previous maps due to the increased distance towards objectives and smaller objective sizes!

It also introduced "Fortified Objectives" a most of the time center objective that allows all units contesting it to benefit from Cover even if they are visible to other enemies.

Terrain placement works a bit different this time around, you only have 1 large terrain piece per player and you have to position them on given spots on the map, the center objective for one side and the outer square objectives for the other. It instructs you to place them on the square objectives however it does not specify that they need to "fully" be on it there for theoretically allowing you to just touch it and be fine.

Overall Cities of Ash is a great Spearhead expansion and a joy to play especially since it provides a more close combat and hectic feel compares to normal spearhead and I can definitely recommend it as a expansion, I would put it as a wonderful way to get someone invested in the spearhead format especially due to the Introductory Booklet you get besides the normal Rules book!

Pros:

-Beautiful terrain

-Relic mechanic

-Dynamic Decks and Plot Cards

-Different Card Backing for Player Deck

-Introductory Booklet for Newcomers explaining different aspects of the game, hobby and how to start!

Potential Cons:

-Harder objective play for armies with low movement

-Currently still being exclusive to the Box

-some stock issues depending on the language

Huhu i was planning on making a custom base for a friend of mine which includes a shield for the greatcannon as a birthday suprise.

But I need to figure out the tolerances I have between the ground and the bottom of the gunbarrel, could a friendly sigmarite help me out and measure for me? 👉👈

So I've been looking trough some RoR when I saw our favorite dwarf with anger issues!

He is 320 points which is a bit expensive but he seems like he can get some work done but be easily slapped by value of dice.

Im not a really competetive player but I do like units to be decent, might he be an okay choice for some fun list fill?

Currently getting into Cities!
