My 3-month experience doing Rapido as a side hustle in Bangalore — ₹1.2k/day, algorithm, restaurants & what I learned

I’m a BBA 2nd-year student from Bangalore. After finishing my 1st-year exams, I had around 3 months of vacation, so I decided to try something completely different — doing Rapido.

I’d usually go online around 8 AM and come back by 4:30 PM, so roughly 8.5 hours a day.
On a decent day, I could make around ₹1,200.

Initially, I had absolutely no idea how the platform worked. But after spending some time on it, I started understanding where/when the demand was and how to make the most out of the algorithm.

Once I figured that out, earning decently became surprisingly straightforward.

For me, it was actually a pretty good side hustle.
But it also made me think a lot about people who depend on gig work as their entire livelihood.
I didn’t really take breaks during those hours.

If I was online, I was basically working or waiting for the next order. And since this was just vacation money for me, I always had the option of going home. Someone doing this full-time doesn't necessarily have that option.

One thing that genuinely pissed me off was how little control captains seem to have.
For example, if a customer cancels, your rating can apparently take a hit, even though the cancellation isn't your fault. And whenever something goes wrong, getting proper support can be a nightmare.

I also did food orders during the slow period around 12–3 PM, because rides were comparatively low.
And holy shit, some restaurants are a completely different experience.
Sometimes the food is ready immediately. Other times you're standing there for 20–25 minutes waiting for them to prepare it.
There was one incident I'll never forget.

I accepted a Swiggy food order through Rapido because the drop location was close to my house. I reached the ice cream shop and found out there was no electricity. Their machines and computer were shut down, so they couldn't prepare the order.
The staff told me I had to call Swiggy and cancel it.
I called Swiggy → they told me they couldn't cancel it and that I had to contact Rapido.
Called Rapido → they told me to contact Swiggy because it was a Swiggy order.
Basically, I was stuck in a Swiggy ↔ Rapido infinite loop.

I spent around 45 minutes trying to figure out what the hell I was supposed to do.
Then I noticed the drop location was a tuition centre. I searched it on Google Maps, found their number and called them directly. Someone picked up, I explained the situation, they asked me to hand the phone to the restaurant staff, spoke to them and eventually got the order cancelled.

The craziest part?
Rapido doesn't show you the customer's contact details until you've picked up the food, which itself requires an OTP from the restaurant.

So if the destination had just been some random house instead of a business I could find on Google Maps, I genuinely don't know what I would've done.

The restaurant staff even told me this had happened before and that another rider had apparently been stuck waiting for 2 hours.
And then there's the whole Bangalore auto-driver situation.

For three months I regularly logged in around places like Majestic, railway stations and other busy areas. Auto drivers would sometimes stare at me like they were trying to see through my soul 💀.
But honestly, I never had a single auto driver threaten or confront me during those three months.

I also surprisingly had a lot of conversations with random passengers. I never really had a negative interaction with a customer. Most people were completely normal and some conversations were actually pretty interesting.

I finished my Rapido journey before all the recent ban/RTO-seizing drama, so I didn't personally experience that side of things.
Overall, I'm glad I did it.

It wasn't just about the ₹1,200/day. I got to see what gig work actually feels like from the worker's side — the waiting, fuel costs, uncertainty, platform rules, customer issues, restaurant problems and the constant pressure to keep moving.

The biggest thing I took away from it is this:
Doing gig work for 3 months as a student is very different from doing it because your family depends on it.
For me, it was a side hustle.
For someone else, those same ₹1,200 might be the difference between paying their bills or not.
Curious to hear from people who have been doing Rapido/Swiggy/Zomato full-time — what has your experience been like, especially with support, ratings, cancellations and earnings?

Can a 2026 Duke 350 use a Duke 390 R Gen 3 orange front frame/chassis?

Hey guys, need some advice.
My friend's \*\*2026 KTM Duke 350 Gen 3\*\* has suffered damage to the \*\*front/main frame (chassis)\*\* and we're looking at replacing it.
We found a \*\*Gen 3 Duke 390 R orange front frame\*\* and we're wondering:
Is the \*\*390 R front frame/chassis physically compatible\*\* with the 2026 Duke 350?

Are the \*\*engine mounts, steering head, suspension mounts, radiator mounts, etc.\*\* identical?

Does anyone know the \*\*OEM part numbers\*\* for the 2026 Duke 350 and 390 R frames?

Has anyone actually done a \*\*350 → 390 R frame swap\*\*?

Would there be any issue with the \*\*VIN/chassis number and registration/RTO\*\* when replacing the frame?

We're specifically talking about the \*\*2026 Gen 3 Duke 350 and Gen 3 Duke 390 R\*\*, not the older-generation Dukes.
If anyone has done this or has access to KTM parts information, please let me know. \*\*Especially interested in real-world experience rather than just "it looks the same."\*\*
Thanks!

Duke 390 vs upcoming Yamaha R2 — what makes more sense for my use case?

Duke 390 vs upcoming Yamaha R2 — what makes more sense for my use case?

**Duke 390 vs upcoming Yamaha R2 — what makes more sense for my use case?**

Hey everyone,
I’m planning to get a new bike and was pretty much set on the **KTM Duke 390**.

However, with the upcoming **Yamaha R2** potentially being released, I’m seriously reconsidering the decision.

I’m a huge Yamaha fanboy, so naturally the R2 is tempting 😅, but I’m willing to put brand loyalty aside if the Duke makes more sense for my actual usage.

**My situation:**

Primary use: College commuting

Daily distance: \~40 km round trip

Route: **Mekri Circle → Bagalur, Bengaluru**

A significant portion of the route is highway/open-road riding

I already have an **Activa 6G**, so I don't necessarily need the new bike for every single daily commute

Occasionally planning longer rides/touring outside Bengaluru

Main priority is **power/performance**
Looking at the **regular Duke 390, not the 390 R**
I’m already used to a sporty riding position — I’ve ridden my cousin’s **R15** and have had no issues with back pain or discomfort, so riding posture/ergonomics aren't really a concern for me.

Since I already have the Activa, I’m wondering whether it makes more sense to get the more performance-oriented bike and use it mainly for highway rides/fun + occasional college commuting.

The Duke 390 obviously has a big advantage in terms of outright performance and power, while the R2 has the Yamaha factor and potentially a different kind of riding experience.

**What would you guys choose in my situation — Duke 390 or R2?**
I’d especially like opinions on:
Real-world highway performance
City riding and heat
Comfort for \~40 km daily use
Touring
Reliability/maintenance
Fuel economy
Overall fun factor
Which bike makes more sense when you already have a scooter for practical commuting

I’m not necessarily looking for the cheapest or most practical option.

**Performance and overall riding experience are my priorities.**

Would love to hear from people who have actually ridden/owned the Duke 390 or Yamaha sport bikes, especially if you've ridden both KTM and Yamaha.

Buying a 2022 Ninja 300 from my cousin – sat unused for years, worth it?

I'm planning to buy my cousin's 2022 Kawasaki Ninja 300.
The bike has only around **3,000–5,000 km** on the odometer because he barely rode it. It's mostly been sitting in the garage for the last couple of years.
As far as I know, the only issue right now is that the **clutch plates need replacing** because they're gone.
.
Since it's been sitting for so long, what problems should I expect apart from the clutch?
.
Will the newer **E20 petrol** be an issue for a 2022 Ninja 300, especially if the bike wasn't designed for it?
.
What all should I inspect before buying? (Fuel tank rust, injectors, battery, tyres, seals, chain, coolant, etc.)
.
the bike is otherwise stock, has a clean service history, and no accident damage, what would be a **fair price** to offer my cousin?
.
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who's bought a low-mileage bike that spent most of its life parked.

Duke 350 vs Apache RR310 Anniversary Edition – Need Owner Suggestions

Hey everyone,
I'm planning to buy a new bike and have narrowed it down to the **KTM Duke 350** and the **TVS Apache RR310 Anniversary Edition**.

I live in **Bangalore**, so accessibility isn't an issue. Both KTM and TVS service centres are nearby, and I also know a trusted local garage that regularly services superbikes, so maintenance options are covered.

The thing is, I have a pretty good understanding of KTMs. I've ridden them before, I'm familiar with the ownership experience, and I know how KTM service centres operate.

However, I know almost nothing about the **Apache RR310**, especially the **Anniversary Edition**. On paper it looks like a fantastic package with the electronics and features, but I'm more interested in the real ownership experience than spec sheets.

I'd love to hear from RR310 owners (especially

Anniversary Edition owners if any):

How has reliability been?

How is TVS after-sales service in Bangalore?

Any recurring issues or expensive maintenance?

Are spare parts easily available?

Any regrets after buying it?

If you've ridden or owned both KTMs and the RR310, which would you choose and why?

Looking forward to genuine owner experiences rather than YouTube reviews. Thanks in advance!

Parents don't want me to get a Duke 250 because there are already two Duke 200s in our society. What would you do?

I'm 19, currently in my 2nd year of degree, and my parents are finally ready to buy me my first proper bike.

The bike I genuinely want is the **KTM Duke 250 Gen 3**. I've ridden my cousin's bikes before (including an R15M), so I'm not exactly a complete beginner. After trying different bikes, the Duke 250 is the one I keep coming back to. It suits my riding style the best.

The problem is, my parents don't actually dislike the Duke 250. Their reason is that there are already **two Duke 200s** in our society. They keep saying, "Why buy a Duke when there are already Dukes here? Get something different."

The funny part is they're actually willing to **stretch the budget by almost ₹1 lakh** just so I can get something more unique.

Their suggestions are:
Triumph Speed 400
BMW G 310 RR

The issue is, I don't really connect with either of them. The Speed 400 is a good bike, but it doesn't excite me. The BMW G 310 RR just isn't my thing.

If I had to get something different, I'd honestly rather **wait another year** and buy an **RS457**, because that's a bike I'd genuinely be excited to own. The problem is my parents think it's too powerful and too expensive, so convincing them will be even harder.

Another option I'm considering is trying to convince them for the **350** instead. My thinking is that while there are already two Duke 200s in our society, the 350 is still relatively rare to see and feels different enough to justify buying one. I'm not sure if that's a reasonable compromise or not.

So I'm stuck between four options:
Keep convincing them to buy the Duke 250 now.
Convince them that the 350 is different enough from the Duke 200 to be a good compromise.
Compromise and buy one of the bikes they're suggesting.
Wait a year and try convincing them for the RS457.

Wait for Yamaha R2 or buy the Duke 250 Gen 3? Need advice.

I've finally reached the point where I'm ready to buy my first bike.

For the last few months, I'd pretty much decided on the KTM Duke 250 Gen 3. My college reopens in two weeks, so I actually need a bike for daily commuting.

The funny part is, the R15 has always been my dream bike. But after riding my cousin's R15M quite a lot, and with another R15 V3 already in the family, I kind of lost the excitement of owning one myself. That's why I shifted towards the Duke 250.

Now the problem.
Ever since these rumours started that the Yamaha R2 could launch in India around August 27, my mind has completely changed. If Yamaha officially confirms it, I'm honestly willing to wait another couple of months.
But if I delay buying a bike, struggle without one after college starts, and then Yamaha doesn't launch the R2 or delays it for another year, I'll be genuinely disappointed.

So I'm stuck between:
• Buy the Duke 250 Gen 3 now and stop overthinking.
• Wait and hope the R2 actually launches soon.
What would you guys do in my situation?
Do you think these August 27 rumours have any credibility, or is it just another case of YouTubers farming views?

Can I buy a Duke 390 R in my mother’s name and get BH registration? JP Morgan employee eligibility?

Hey everyone,
I’m planning to buy a KTM Duke 390 R and had a doubt regarding BH series registration.
The situation is: my mother works at JP Morgan. I wanted to know if I can purchase the bike in her name and apply for a BH number plate instead of regular state registration.
From what I understand, BH registration is usually for eligible employees whose company has offices in 4 or more states/UTs, but I’m not sure whether JP Morgan employees are eligible and whether private sector employees can still get BH without issues during registration.
Questions:
Is JP Morgan employee eligibility accepted for BH registration?

Can I buy the bike in my mother’s name and use it regularly?

What documents are usually asked by the RTO/dealer for BH registration?

Anyone here got BH registration recently in Karnataka for a bike? How smooth was the process?

Would appreciate if anyone has recent experience. Thanks!

My 2-day experience with BluArmor C40 (coming from Realme Buds Air 7)

Bought the BluArmor C40 on Sunday and used it continuously for around 6 hours per day for 2 days.
Before this I was using Realme Buds Air 7 inside my helmet.
Realme Buds Air 7 – Pros:
Very good bass and sound quality

Noise cancellation was excellent (almost zero outside sound)

Could switch to transparency mode to hear some honking and traffic

Cons:
Had to take out phone for changing audio / controls often

Ear pain after using continuously for hours inside helmet

BluArmor C40 – My experience:
Huge jump in convenience compared to earbuds

Sound quality is decent (not as immersive as in-ear earbuds, which I expected)

Call quality is honestly impressive — crystal clear and crisp

Easy to attend calls, change tracks without touching phone

Siri support works well

Hey Blu feature is useful but currently has limited commands (heard more features may come later)

After-sales experience:
I had an issue where Hey Blu stopped working after 2–3 uses. I raised multiple complaints on WhatsApp and eventually a technical person joined a Google Meet and fixed it. Turned out to be a minor issue.
Overall after 2 days: If you ride long hours and want comfort + convenience over pure audio quality, I’m liking the C40 so far.

u/RapTer_OP — 2 months ago

Bought BluArmor C40 yesterday and used it today for around 7 hours continuously.

Facing 2 issues:
On my iPhone 12, the HeyBlue feature worked only once during initial setup and never worked again after that even after multiple retries.

On my secondary phone (Redmi Note 9 Pro Max), Bluetooth connects to C40 but the BluArmor app does not detect the device at all.

For context, the BluArmor app is detecting and working only on my iPhone 12.
Anyone else faced this with C40? Any fix? Is this firmware issue, app issue or MIUI compatibility issue?
Device:
Working: iPhone 12 (BluArmor app detects)

Not detecting in app: Redmi Note 9 Pro Max (Bluetooth connects)
