Desperate Times

Three sellers. All thanking me for pressing like. All offering to rush off to the shops to ship within hours. I find it massively off putting and hate excess messages. But aside from this I wonder is this a sign of how badly vinted is doing at the moment, making people act desperate, causing a knock on effect of this culture of thanks and quick shipping offers , people telling you their days schedule so you buy their item. Wondering if I ought to start messaging people with my shipping schedule too 😂😂😂

Smile bar

Anyone know where's best to park to go to smile bar?

We have a disability badge if that makes any difference.

Is the on street parking round the back usually available.

Prefer to park close by if possible for mobility reasons.

Thanks!

Yeast Extract saga continued...

Pretty upset about the Aldi marmite saga.

Not only is it derived from wheat and barley, I got in touch with food standards (why do you have to get in touch only with your local department, when it's a countrywide issue- I'm in Yorkshire which is an area I think doesn't give a damn about celiac like somewhere in Bristol or Brighton would). The woman has listened to aldi telling her it isn't a legal requirement to declare wheat or barley, and the page on the trading standards page which disputes this says Page Not Found . Incredibly frustrating. Does anyone have evidence that this is in face against UK law? And does anyone want to report it to their local trading standards or know how to report to a centralised one. The whole process was incredibly difficult. I'm just upset people will continue to be ill from this and Aldi doesn't have to issue a statement or change the label.

Also I highly doubt they test the PPM.

I got really ill from eating a tiny bit, if I had made a gravy from it and eaten the amount I usually do, I can only imagine.

Email from trading standards:

Good afternoon,

I have been in contact with the Primary Authority for Aldi and have received the following response:

The yeasts used in Grandessa Mighty Yeast Extract are grown on substrates from Barley, Wheat and Molasses. During the yeast extract production process, the gluten content is reduced to a level of ≤20 parts per million (ppm) which is considered as gluten-free according to legislation, and allergen declaration is not required.

Malted chocolate gluten free?

I know malted chocolate wouldn't usually be gluten free but the ingredients don't suggest there is any barley, does anyone have any clue if this is safe or why it would be called malted if it isn't ?

Stop letting off fireworks. 430 am , there is no need. 230 am last night and midnight too. It's rude AF and you're horrible. If you do it again tomorrow night I'm coming out. You're insufferable.

ALDI YEAST EXTRACT

Aldi Yeast Extract is made from wheat and barley.

i had a reaction to it so contacted aldi, who at first wouldn't tell me what it was made from. When pressed they informed me via email that it's extracted from barley and wheat, but it tests below 20ppm so doesn't legally need to be written on the packet.

Just posting this here for people who are sensitive like me, yes I'm aware some people are fine with this, go ahead and eat it, but for those with wheat allergy as well, I personally think it should be labelled. If it caused me symptoms it will cause others symptoms and I personally believed if it didn't say wheat on it it wouldn't be extracted from wheat.

So yes, legally safe for celiacs, but not great if you're sensitive.

Thought I'd share in case other people were wondering what was making them ill.

I also wonder how stringent they are with testing/ if it is even tested at all.

I eat other yeast extracts and haven't noticed an issue. Half a teaspoon of less than 20ppm took me out of action for an evening. I wonder what that 20ppm is a measurement of - the whole jar or per serving?

Advice about housing solicitors please (disrepair claim)

Hi, had a long standing issue with extreme damp in rented accommodation.

Solicitors have been a bit slack to say the least, surveyor has taken months to sort out, whilst I deal with poor conditions and poor health.

Solicitors haven't made a contract with me telling me what I'm to expect from them (I've asked but they're evasive and can't tell me what I'd expect to claim), they also don't seem to care about the fine details too much.

Without any contract from them, I've been phoned asking for £750 surveyor fee.

Just asking is this normal procedure?

I feel like I'm potentially doing something stupid and ignorant handing money over with no written contract on what I'm to expect from them on my end.

My worry is they will just do a basic claim for rent costs whilst the major issues have been present, and not bother with the personal injury (my physical, mental and financial health have suffered immensely due to the extreme conditions I've endured).

There wouldn't be much point in this for me as that would just cover the surveyor costs.

They're really difficult to communicate with and treat me as a bit of a time wasting chore but I just want to know what to expect before I put my money down. For a start it would be a huge blow to come out of this without what I see as proper justice (for the impact to my health and life to be acknowledged). Claiming rent back just wouldn't cut it for me when it's affected me so much.

On another note, how do you find a reputable solicitor who will actually discuss with you which type of claim you want.

Aldi Yeast Extract

Does anyone know what substrate they use to extract the yeast from in aldi yeast extract?

I know it's apparently gluten free, but I'm incredibly Sensitive to anything derived from gluten grains even if it's technically GF.

Just trying to figure out if what I'm having is a reaction or just a fluke.

Thanks.

I've emailed them i am just impatient and will report my findings here if nobody else knows, for those who are mysteriously sensitive like me.

Filter function

Has it disappeared for anyone else?

I can't filter categories when I'm going to buy which is annoying as it makes it hard to find bundles.

Also I use the filter function logged out to try and easily see what I have listed on my profile so I don't accidentally list something I already listed a year ago. It's impossible to use without the filter function just wondering if anyone else has noticed it not working for them either!
