I’ve had this Tophill Samurai homage for little over a year now. And while it doesn’t get a lot of love due to my extensive collection, every time I bring it back in the rotation I fall in love with it all over again. This time around I slapped an FKM strap from StrapCo on, and lawdy lawd 😍😍😍

What is one piece in your collection that’s been doing that for you lately? And did you have to do anything to reignite your love for it besides just put it on?

I’ve been loving watches for as long as I can remember. In the early phase I just bought what appealed to my eyes without any knowledge to speak of. Didn’t know quartz from mechanical nor did I care whether it was sapphire or hardlex crystal.

Then along came YouTube, and suddenly information typically exclusive to sales people and others in the watch space became available to the average Joe. I quickly developed an appreciation for mechanical watches that hasn’t left me to this day. In fact, I became a bit of a snob looking down with some contempt at quartz and would never seriously consider owning one despite how attractive the particular piece might have been.

Then one day I bought a G-Shock GSTB1000D-1A, in a pawn shop just because it was a good bargain. And the minute I put it on my wrist, I instantly fell in love. No matter how hard I try to keep my other watches in rotation, there’s almost never 2-day span where I’m not drawn to it and have to get it back on wrist.

Since then, my sentiments towards quartz have radically shifted. So much so that my last six purchases have been quartz. And I am now enjoying the even wider range of choices available to me as a result of this shift.

What about you? How are some ways that your tastes are evolving on this journey?

Just arrived. Been on my radar since 2024 and finally I was able to snag it in a bidding war on eBay last week. I paid a little more than I wanted to nut less than the msrp. But I had to have it.

This pic doesn’t even come close to doing this beauty justice. The look, the proportions, the fit and feel are just beyond words. Anyone else owns one of these? What’s your take?

Seriously! I won my grail AliExpress piece, the Sugess Daytona Chrono, off eBay on Saturday, picked up the Monterey Coral cave, on Sunday, then AliExpress had to go and have another sale on Monday. Why😩. Snagged my dream San Martin BB58 last night and swore that was it. Then along comes Farasute dangling their wares in front of my wandering eyes. Look, this piece was $206 before the sale. And now? $120. How can I unsee this? Would somebody pls stop me😎.
