Ahh, zones?!

Take a 45 minute away order and now I’m not able to get offers for the local Walmarts?! Do zones expand after say 10 deliveries, or are you stuck to just one area?

That also implies you can’t do Spark on vacation etc? Can you be approved for multiple areas? Thank you

Newb, when to hit buttons shopping Spark?

Diamond Instacart shopper, but first day doing Spark.

What’s the process for when to hit each button?

8:45 PM I hit “accept” on a 19 minute shopping offer when I’m 7 minutes away from the Walmart.

It shows a “start trip” button. Odd, but okay I click.

WTF, the next screen says “8:48 Shopping” as if that’s to mean I’m suppose to arrive and start shopping by then? Maybe you don’t click start trip until you’re at the store? It doesn’t make sense!

Next is confirm arrival, then start shopping. I guess confirm arrival is the parking lot and start shopping is when you enter the store?

Next is exit pass / I’ve left store / start.

No clue why it’s not just exit pass and start, but if you hit I’ve left the store as you’re walking to the car and then start after your car is loaded, it makes the time to be delivered EXACTLY what GPS says you’ll arrive taking no consideration for traffic delays.

When do you hit I’ve left the store and when do you hit start?

Thank you

Ratings

Started Spark today.

  1. Is there no reward program with Spark?

  2. Does it matter at all if your rating is 90% vs 100%? Of course I’m not intentionally doing anything to get 1 stars, it’s more along the lines of I try hard / try to do the best I can, so I waste A LOT of time communicating when items are out of stock etc. If ratings hardly matter at all maybe I can just say it is what it is.

  3. Does Walmart remove bad ratings by request or have a standard “lowest 2 ratings are removed”? Or does it only track last 100 and old ones fall off? lol I could keep going with questions like are ratings common / easy to get on Spark, or are they rare like UberEats where it’s only a very small percentage who actually rate (therefore ratings DO matter or else you’ll have a very low rating and be deactivated since all bad reviews get left but only a small few leave 5 stars)?

Thank you

Spark Newbie Questions

I’m an Instacart Shopper who finally got approved for Spark. Curious if these estimated shopping times are anywhere near reasonable or if Walmart drastically underestimates them? (Like 41 minutes for 42 items 80 units).

Maybe Walmart shopping is a breeze, but to estimate the time for less than 60 seconds for finding and checkout seems to be a stretch, especially since items can be from all over the store!

Also curious on payouts. It seems to say they’re sent weekly on Monday and then maybe when the card arrives I can get instant atm cash outs (true? If so, are free ATMs all around or rare and is there a fee after 8 withdrawals a month etc)? It sounds like there’s no way I could get an instant bank transfer today or even process a bank transfer any day where it arrives in 1-3 days? Thank you

New to Spark, quick question!

The top offer says it’s exclusive and has a timer counting down, are we being tracked for acceptance rate of those and/or do we have to hit decline if not interested?

Instacart I can just leave on all day and it is what it is, but want to make sure Spark is either similar or if I need to actually be hitting reject (and if I’m “punished” for rejecting tons).

Thanks!

Holy crap, partner can burn your house down?!

In Illinois, if you let a partner live with you, after a certain period of time they’re considered tenants where you can’t simply kick them out. (Have to legally evict an ex who refuses to leave).

So my partner is about to be convicted for domestic abuse, and I truly fear they could do something crazy like burn my house down (in my name only).

It seemingly turns out insurance policies actually would not cover me in this situation where it’s an intentional act by a household member, like WTF!!!! How do I protect my fully paid off house when the ex could go crazy when she realizes she’s actually being evicted?

This also leads me to wonder if it also means things like if you have an autistic/ADHD/ODD son who’s about to become a teen.. if he happens to decide to bash out all of your windows, is that literally not covered at all as that’s also a household member doing an intentional act? That’s insane!

Attraction: When a man should show interest?

Curious on opinions (from both M/F of all ages) on attracting women. Please say your gender/age! (Example 30F etc)

For an actual relationship (physical or committed), at some point interest has to be shown..

But where I’m confused and seeking advice is that I (40m) have likely always been attracted mostly to women who did not show interest. (Maybe that’s because it’s more rare for women to initially show obvious interest in a guy / I lack skills to properly pick up on signals from women).

I’m currently ending a 13 year relationship, so getting back out there. I’m not trying to play games, but I’m conflicted between where I can see how if a man shows interest too early that can be seen as an ick and doesn’t build attraction.

But then I see comments from women here along the lines of “when he didn’t refuse to let me pay for the second date, I assumed he wasn’t interested in me so I ended it.” (Not looking for a who should pay debate, but that’s an example of where a woman is stating she will lose interest when she feels the guy isn’t showing enough interest). Every scenario is unique, as I’m sure if she were on a date with her favorite celebrity it could even increase attraction where she chases harder when she feels the guy she wants isn’t interested.

I guess there has to be a sequence of when to show interest. I’m sure step 1 shouldn’t usually be showing interest (although maybe it is with the right women you’d click with?). I’ve had several women I’ve met later on say that they had a crush on me in high school etc and just never thought I was interested, so I “blew” those by not showing interest.

So….. what makes the difference between showing interest killing attraction vs creating attraction? Is it maybe there’s some women who will naturally be attracted to you where showing interest gets the ball rolling, and those are all you should focus on (opposed to any scenario you “have to” hold off showing interest too early to avoid coming across as needy etc?).

Are ratings capped at last 98-100?

Do the numbers next to stars cap out at 98-100, or will it show 101 sometime?

Not sure if mine’s stuck at 98 with the 2 lowest automatically removed until those 2 fall out (where it’s capped to show your last 100 ratings only)?

Thank you

Men’s alternatives to Brickell 2026?

Ordered a Brickell kit (roughly $200) and coming from being 40m and simply using a daily moisturizer, I feel there’s results after Day 1.

However, as an entrepreneur/marketer myself, I’m well aware Brickell is likely overpriced and you can get the same for half or less.

Has anyone done research and found products for a quality men’s skin care routine without the extra costs for packaging/marketing etc?

It seems comparing skincare products is rough since even Brickell Eye Cream appears to have like 100 ingredients reading the box, so not sure how to compare one eye cream vs another, for example.

Broken phone shoppers

Do you still do alcohol (/signature) deliveries? Curious if shoppers don’t care and are having customers sign on broken glass or if they turn them off or avoid orders that require signature?

Why is tipping delivery drivers 15-20% not the norm?

Probably should ask customers, but asking here due to it being more likely people are awake!

What is the logic for not tipping delivery drivers (especially shoppers) 15-20% when that’s typical for tipping servers?

I suspect the reason is simply because people can hide behind “leave at door” and never see your face. A claim of “Instacart should pay you more” is pointless because people say restaurant owners should pay living wages all the time, yet still tip 15-20%.

We literally do a lot more work and have vehicle/gas expenses!

Note: I’m asking because it’s been rare for people to tip 15-20% of their grocery bill. It happens, but these $1-2 tip offers are just absurd and I doubt the percentages we see do that are doing $0-2 for servers at restaurants. Yes IC markup prices for most stores.. but uhh, restaurants buy produce/meats/drinks and are marking them up at the restaurant so that excuse also makes no sense.

Thumbs downing customers just leads to 1 star reviews?

I’ve seen posts stating 20 minutes after delivery a customer has received an email that they were reported. Does this mean if I thumbs down someone I’m literally just guaranteeing I’ll get bad reviews?

Or are reviews ideally blocked for anyone you thumbs down?

Small talk for alcohol deliveries

Curious if anyone has suggestions for a random piece of small talk while scanning IDs (/the time they’re fumbling around grabbing ID) to avoid awkward silence?

I naturally want to say, “looks like someone’s going to have a great/fun night!” But fear someone will cry saying their mom died or they just lost their job etc.

No show alcohol policy?

Curious what DD’s policy is. Instacart pays you $15 to return it, but not sure what DD does? (Hopefully they don’t prorate pay down and require a return!!!).

Had a guy give an apartment building number but not his door number. Wasted almost 10 minutes for him to get outside and it turns out the punk was a $0 tipper of course.

(Thankfully it was a batch of 2 orders and overall pay would have been good if I didn’t waste an extra 10 minutes).

Who here actually would tip a personal shopper only $2 if it weren’t for IC suggesting it?

This is by far from being the horrible offers shoppers see all day (20 items, 11 miles and $2 tip are common)… but I’m curious how many actually think that’s a fair tip if it weren’t for IC recommending something low?

A lot of IC shoppers have old cars where $2 doesn’t even cover gas for someone you’re expecting to do your shopping. (Someone drives 4 miles to the store. They then drive 4 miles to you, and now likely 4 miles back to being anywhere near stores. That’s 12 miles when they may drive a vehicle getting 15MPG. Not your fault, but it’s the reality).

I’m not blaming customers, I just think it’s nuts IC suggests such low tips, as it makes people think they’re fair amounts even though on their own they’d have thought to always tip at least $5-10 to have someone shop for them.

WTF just happened stories

Ever have those deliveries that leave you replaying what happened after you leave?

Frail elderly lady ordered alcohol, soda to mix it with and Carmel popcorn.

Had the most intense eye contact stare I’ve possibly ever seen and kept repeating “oh my God” over and over as she’s holding on the door for support. Not sure if she was in shock from how attractive I am 😂

It’s 90’s here and there’s Canada wildfire smoke all around Chicago so maybe could have been in regard to that. I also didn’t really feel like a medical emergency was happening (wasn’t falling or holding heart and shut door as normal after signing), but I am left thinking I could be the last to see her alive it was just so weird (the stare was the ENTIRE time if she were younger and made a side eye motion I’d think she’s being held hostage).

Welfare check doesn’t seem appropriate and I don’t equate the behavior as being intoxicated. More like Tourette’s possibly, but it was certainly odd.

Marking incorrect item as correct

Customer ordered organic cucumbers. The store does not carry organic at this time. App tells me another shopper found it an hour ago even though employee confirmed they don’t have them.

The cucumbers were packaged with a barcode that wouldn’t scan, so I couldn’t suggest it as a replacement. What options did I have?

Doing unavailable/no options available didn’t seem correct, as I wouldn’t have been able to add item for the non organic ones since the barcode wouldn’t scan. (Btw customer said in chat non organic is fine).

I marked it as found and told the customer they’re $0.10 less and she can remove it from my tip I’ll cover it since I’m marking the organic as found.

End result: the tip was a percent because it was reduced by a total of $0.02. Does this imply IC adjusts the cost of items for a customer automatically when they cost less at the store? I get that weighted produce may have a price adjustment after someone orders based on the available weight.. but it seems odd if IC charged someone $0.99 and then the item scanned at $0.89 I really don’t see why they’re not pocketing the $0.10. (UNLESS maybe the store is advertised as no markups). If the item were to scan at $1.09, is IC charging the customer $0.10 more after ordering and advertising the item was $0.99 as well? Doubt that so just trying to figure out how it works.

For those making a killing on UE..

WHY do you do UE? Generally a lot of people doing UE have older cars, so they’re not able to drive Uber passengers… but if you’re making lots of money, why don’t you just buy a newer vehicle and do Uber passengers?

Seeing payouts seem to imply driving passengers would make A LOT more per mile, so I’m curious if it’s just that you hate people even though you still see people doing UE, or what is it?

(Only other guess would be its timing. Maybe the high pay passenger driving relates to like 2-4AM when bars get out, whereas maybe UE you make the most any day during dinner rushes and that time works better for you to work?).

Thanks, just curious.
