Finally finished this build for a deadhead veteran buddy of mine. Minor miscommunication with my embroiderer resulted in one of the bears being under the watch. I told him that bear represents me and my disdain for his music. He's going through some shit with ALS so I was real glad to make this for him. Hope you all enjoy it. Happy 4th!
Does anyone have a source for an orange second hand that would fit the duro?
Like the title says this is my first Vostok. I looked at enough pictures and watched enough video reviews to manage my expectations, but I am a little surprised at how scratched up the dial is. I don't know if it's clear from the pictures but the acrylic crystal has been poly watched and is as clear as can be. All those lines appear to be in the dial face. I guess I'll just chalk it up to part of the character of the watch. Happy to join the club. This is a fun one.
Hi all, first of all love what you do in this community. You inspired me to give it a try. How does this model look to you all? Worth putting into a metal case? I would love the final product to have a very similar look, same color bezel, etc. Etc. I'm not interested in doing a movement switch just yet unless you think this one is total crap. Also ,the dial in the top right circle doesn't seem to move at all. I'm assuming that's normal normal for reps? Appreciate any advice.

Brand new to watches. Wanted to give purchasing at temu a try. Looks like I got what I paid for. The crown won't screw down which is apparently a huge tell. Also, the made in Japan on the back is another tell? Basically, I know this is fake but I really want to learn here. Could you point out all of the other fake indications on this watch? I'd really appreciate it
I bought it for 20 bucks from Temu. Anything jumping out at you all as fake?
When you print your own filters, what level of transparency, if any, do you set it to? Tired of spending money and weeks. Waiting for filters from Etsy. Any advice in what has a printing these themselves would be appreciated. Thanks
I've been wanting to join the gang for a while but set some pretty strict budget constraints on myself. I refused to buy a Duro unless I found it for under 50 bucks. Just pulled the trigger! Will update with photos in 1 to 12 months haha! Hopefully sooner. Wanted to share so you guys could take advantage of the sale too. Hope this is allowed.
I wanted my first Father's Day since I got into watches to include a watch gifted to me by my 8-year-old. I've really been wanting a Vostok so late one night, a month or so ago, I went online and found a Ukrainian site with a bunch of awesome Soviet watches, chose one for under a hundred bucks and here it is. I can't remember what I selected. I think it might be a kommanderski. I'm going to stick it in a box, wrap it up and give it to her to give to me in June. I'll update this post then.
I'm straight and she is gay. We've been friends for over 30 years. She was the best person at my wedding. I love her. The world is fucking hard for you people and it's been hard for her. I haven't been there for her the way I should have. I sent her a gift for her birthday a couple months ago and it was a bomb because of unintentional political undertones. This time I decided to make her something. I wanted it to be light-hearted but also meaningful. When she looks at it, I want her to feel strong and loved. I'm going to send it to her as a gift in celebration of Pride in June.
