The Great Return: How People Are Reacting Is Fascinating.

How different people are reacting to the news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are moving back to the UK is fascinating. Fans of Meghan are convinced that it must mean that Charles is at death's door and that this proves Meghan has the patience of a saint. Everyone else, on the other hand, is convinced that the Sussex's are running out of money - fast.

Why Did Richard Davalos' Career Fail to Take Off?

After playing James Dean's brother in East of Eden (1955), he was largely reduced to middling fare, with supporting roles in Cool Hand Luke (1967) and Kelly's Heroes (1970) being notable exceptions. What happened?

Did Joanne Adler Deserve to Be Nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for The Assassination of Gianni Versace?

She was amazing as Andrew Cunanan's mother, Mary Anne. However, while both Penélope Cruz and Judith Light were nominated that year in the above category, Adler was absent. Did Cruz and Light (both absolutely brilliant IMO) deserve a nomination over Adler or was she robbed? What about the other nominees (listed below)?

  • Merritt Wever – Godless as Mary Agnes McNue (Winner)
  • Sara Bareilles – Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert as Mary Magdalene
  • Penélope Cruz – The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story as Donatella Versace
  • Adina Porter – American Horror Story: Cult as Beverly Hope
  • Letitia Wright – Black Museum (Black Mirror) as Nish

*Please keep in mind that American Crime Story was competing as a limited series, so it was ineligible for the guest categories.

Where Does Alice Hardy Stand in the Pantheon of Final Girls?

In my opinion, below Laurie Strode, Sidney Prescott, and Nancy Thompson, but above Julie James (who I personally like), Ginny Field, Jamie Lloyd and Sally Hardesty. Ginny is highly likable, but Friday the 13th is a classic, and Alice also has a neat cameo in Part 2, a strong film. Ginny, on the other hand, stars in Part 2, as well as Part 3, the latter of which is a comparatively weak entry. The reasons why Alice is important to the genre are crystal (lake) clear: she not only kills Pamela at the end of the first film, but she also becomes Jason's first on-screen victim in the second, both of which cement her position in the slasher hall of fame. What about you, though? Who’s who in your personal pantheon of final girls, and where does Alice fit into it all?

ITV's Adaptation of After the Funeral: Am I Missing Something?

Why would Susan (Lucy Punch) be so dumbfounded at the idea that >!Miss Gilchrist!< would kill Cora for £5000, given that in today's money that's worth nearly half a million pounds?

TIL That Barbara Broccoli's Mother, Dana, Was Originally Married to Lewis Wilson - the First Actor to Play Batman.

Before marrying Albert in 1959, Dana Broccoli (née Natol), was originally married to actor Lewis Wilson. Wilson is largely forgotten now, but in 1943 he became the first person to play the caped crusader on screen, starring as Batman in the film serial Batman. After marrying, they had a son, Michael, Barbara's half-brother, before eventually divorcing. Lewis retired from acting in 1973 and died in 2000.

Not only did I genuinely think that Adam West was the first to play batman on screen, but this also demonstrates how how the world of film really is a small place. What a neat connection Barbara has to two of the biggest icons of the twentieth century!

Why Did Katherine Waterston's Career Fail to Take Off?

She was touted as the next big thing when Inherent Vice came out and then starred in Alien: Covenant, Steve Jobs and the Fantastic Beasts series, but since then she's been reduced to supporting roles in Babylon and (even worse) Netflix's Fear Street: Prom Queen. What happened? Did she not have what it takes, a bad agent, or was it just bad luck?

Characters That Were Killed Off Too Soon

Which characters do you personally think were killed off too soon? For me, it has to be Chugs from Sorority Row. Always thought that that was such a big mistake. Margo Harshman was great in the role, and I would have loved for her character to have had more screen time. What about you?

Pete Versus Life (2010 - 2011)

Pete Versus Life: A British comedy about a would be sports writer making his way through life starring Rafe Spall as the lead character. Each episode is commented upon by two sports announcers, Terry and Colin, who act as if they're watching a game of football. The Crown's Daniel Ings portrayed his arch-nemesis Jake, a charismatic scientist who everybody else thinks can do no wrong. It only lasted two seasons and Rafe Spall went on to more high profile gigs but it's highly rewatchable.

Audrey Hepburn, Peter Ustinov, Charlie Chaplin, Richard Burton, David Niven and Roger Moore, amongst others, chose to make Switzerland their home (and the likes of Sophia Loren still live there). Why though? Was it a World War Two thing?

Julie James in the Scream Franchise: Would It Have Been a Better Idea than Making the IKWYDLS Reboot?

Yes, you could argue that the Scream films are already crowded, but Ben Willis is long dead and IKWYDLS (2025) just felt so contrived, would it have been a better idea for Julie to a be trauma counsellor or profiler (like Hewitt's character in Criminal Minds) in Scream 7, instead?

Why Do Actors Playing Teenagers Have to Be So Old?

In Scream 7, Asa Germann was twenty-seven when principal photography began in January 2025, Celeste O'Connor was twenty-six. Even Isabel May was around 24. I know it's nothing new (Skeet Ulrich was in his mid-twenties when making the original film) but why though? Why not cast actors who are in their late teens or very early twenties, instead of grown ass adults? Mckenna Grace was 18, but Germann was just fifteen years younger than Anna Camp who played his mother.
