First time in NYC this September

Hi everyone, I will be visiting NYC for the first time this September. I want to consume as much culture as possible while I am there and would love some local recommendations.

I am really interested in checking out the local music and nightlife scene. I am open to rock, electronic, classical, and modern, basically anything as long as the music is actually good. I am interested mainly in independent alternative events.

I would also love to explore the queer scene. However, given the current climate and strictly for my own peace of mind and safety, I am looking for welcoming spaces (Jewish) that do not define themselves as anti-Zionist.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Boiler sauna berlin pick hours (weekdays)

I know the best time to visit the boiler is on weekends holidays and bank days. I can also say to those interested, it gets busy from Saturday afternoon with a famous and notorious queue.

But I’m not experienced with boilers. Yet I’ve recently wanted to fit them into my schedule. So, I’m asking about the “pick” hours during summer weekdays. I don’t expect it to be busy but when would be a good time to visit for a relaxing break during a normal working day?

What is the main Theme of The Boys?

While *The Boys* aims to be a satirical superhero show, I struggle to discern a single political message. Yes, it touches right-wing politics, uprisings of fascism, the misuse of religion and various media aspects. But it doesn’t really reflect a specific political subject. Another obvious prominent theme is loss and revenge. However, another recurring theme is the complex parent-child relationship. Almost every character grapples with a complicated relationship with one or two parents and these parents are often blamed for the present day. This subject may be a staple of superhero narratives but *The Boys* certainly takes it further. Any thoughts on this?

Tension

Only now finished watching episode 5, which begins with mutual flirting between Ruben and Nial during a period of mutual good terms and both being in relationships, finally made sense of what might draw Nial into this toxic relationship with Ruben. Being younger and less sexually mature than Ruben, Nial experienced his first sexual pleasure while gazing at Ruben and hearing his voice in a very violent scene. Since Nial was clearly alert and shocked from the outset, he likely confused the pleasure of sexual intimacy with fear. Ruben is undoubtedly exploiting this situation, relishing the control he exerts and the way it arouses Nial. He derives sexual pleasure not from intimacy but from the power and control violence brings him. Ruben which is very competitive revels in being Nial’s apotheosis while Nial enjoys the idea of committing to something foolish dedicating himself to Ruben and becoming “his bitch”.

The creators of Half Man seem to be deliberately building tension to keep viewers hooked, while using Ruben’s sex appeal. Throughout the series there’s a palpable anticipation for the next meeting between Nial and Ruben. Many of us are terrified of what might happen having been traumatised by their explosive interactions. Others enjoy the erotic element and perhaps also yearn for the intimacy Nial craves despite the inherent danger. Some viewers from episode one were simply despising this ongoing anticipation of something toxic and ugly probably giving up during episode four.

If the creators deliberately tried to mirror this confrontation between pleasant sexual tension and fear I predict the end. Ruben will fully realise this tension by taking total control over Nial and beating him to death. He will also kill himself with “too many pills”. I don’t think Nial will get even a violent kiss only a taste of his blood.
