The Drime Team has done it again! High Five!

u/Empty_Win_297 - I want to thank you and team for all your hard work on this awesome product. I know you all are still in your infancy but WOW, just WOW!

Is it perfect, no. Is ANYTHING? Absolutely NOT!

You have just inched closer to my main cloud storage with the latest Android release. You have now surpassed G Drive by allowing the creation of docs without having to download multiple apps and can do everything IN Drime. No to mention the Vault, Notes and the Signing of Docs.

The only thing that would make this even more perfect would be the ability to move folders between Workspaces.

I should say I'm fortunate to not have some of the issues others have described. Hopefully those that are having issues will get them resolved soon because this is honestly a great product! This is money well spent for me.

Please, I'm begging you PLEASE DON'T GO AWAY any time soon!

I have a lifetime subscription and despite what others say about lifetime, this is one of the BEST purchases I have made. I feel like I'm already getting a full return of my investment because there are so many more features than when I purchased.

HI FIVE DRIME TEAM!

FM is the BEST money spent on an email provider

I have to say, first and foremost, I never thought I would spend money on an email provider besides a Google workspace account for a business. If you are curious or on the fence, keep reading below. I had some of these questions and couldn't find exact answers so I'm hoping my journey helps someone.

I decided to try FM last year and honestly within days I decided to upgrade to a paid account. Initially, I didn't migrate all of my Gmail emails. I then decided to migrate my emails but I had a concern that I was going to bog down FM so I deleted the imported emails as what you do in FM won't affect Gmail, with an exception. (This is mentioned below.) I decided to just clean Gmail myself. Well, cleaning Gmail can be a complete pain, plus, I'm really trying to get rid of Gmail all together. This brings me to now and why I consider FM the ULTIMATE email provider and would and will CONTINUE to pay them!

Here are my reasons. This is my use case so you may need more technical reasons, but I'm just average and simplistic. I need to say I do have a custom domain that I use in FM and also utilize Simple Login via Proton with a lifetime subscription that I was using before FM but this still works perfectly and I'm glad I have my setup. Without getting too far off track, I have some catch-all emails from SL forwarded to FM, in addition to the ones that are in FM with my custom domain. I have more that one custom domain.

Present day - First, I started about 2 weeks ago having FM fetch all new emails from Gmail as some accounts I can't change the email address. Also, I set FM up to automatically delete the email from Gmail. So that I can tell exactly what is being forwarded to Gmail, I created a label called Gmail Importing 📬. Literally with this emoji and have directly FM to put all incoming emails into that folder. I can now either delete the email, change the address from Gmail if I can or unsubscribe.

While this works, beautifully, I have to check spam because I'm finding some emails are going directly to spam even though they are expected emails I want. The great news is I can reply to emails in FM with my Gmail account and it looks like it's coming from Gmail and not FM. Then, I imported ALL my emails from Gmail. I had about 30k emails dating back to 2018. The really old ones are some that are very personal from a deceased parent and others are receipt purchases for items still under warranty, proof of purchase for lifetime subscriptions that are still going strong and other very important information. The migration was super quick and I did a random check and everything was there. Once I confirmed the emails were in FM, I mass deleted all my Gmail emails to ZERO!

The imported emails created tags to mimic the folders I have in Gmail so it was easy to identify what was in Gmail. I then moved the imported Gmail folders out of the Imported parent folder to a non-parent folder so it looks like it was a part of FM to begin with. The emails that were in the Imported folder I retitled to Inbox Gmail. You can't rename the FM Inbox name but you can rename the imported folders. Now I can delete and move as needed.

In FM, there are labels and folders. Trust me, labels are your friend. I learned the hard way when I first started. I'm glad because this process would not have worked the way I wanted if I hadn't started using labels.

I added emojis to my label names and at a glance it makes sorting easier.

Tips:

  1. In case you aren't aware, you can open an email, click on the 3 dots and select Show details. Where you see the senders address, click on it and you will see a another set of options, one of which is Search email. Click that and you will new shown EVERY email sent by that sender with all the tags given. You can now with mass delete, change the tags as needed and generally take control of your emails.

  2. Sort your labels and move you Gmail Imports to the top for ease.

  3. Go into the labels and select Advanced preferences and click Discard duplicate messages on delivery to help clean things up.

I hope what I provided helps you. I still have some clean up to do, but I FINALLY feel like I'm in control and can clean up Gmail emails so much easier in FM than in Gmail and don't have to go back to Gmail to accomplish things. Gmail made it so hard to do certain things on the app and you were forced to go to their website. I'm not always on a computer and want to do some things will I'm sitting down watching TV, etc. I appreciate the fact I can do the same things on the FM app that I can on the app. I know some have complained about this, but personally, I'm appreciative. I can do anything I need to do on the go!

This post was not meant to address privacy, but is directed at those thinking about joining FM and/or are trying to decide why a paid plan is good.

Curious to know your thoughts and if you discovered something new or if this helps you make a better decision?

Issues with Secria - Server Error

Is anyone having issues with Secria right now? I can't seem to send an email as I'm getting a server error. I discovered this because I was trying to send an email to support to see if there was something going on because I can't move emails to folders, can't add tags and can't add attachments.

Am I the only one experiencing issues right now?

Migration questions

Hello all,

EDIT: For the majority of my original post, I found the answers, so just a couple now.

First, I did a search before asking these questions but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.

I have been using FM (paid) for a while with a custom domain.

I'm really trying to simplify things and get away from Google as much as I can. How does unsubscribing work? Do I just unsubscribe from the body of the email? I'm assuming since I can reply from within FM using my Gmail address?

What are your pros and cons regarding migration if you have done it? Is there anything I need to consider?

Easy Switch and Unsubscribe

If I start using Easy Switch so I can stop going to the Gmail app, can I use the unsubscribe button in the Proton Mail desktop or do I need to use unsubscribe within the body of the actual email?

I know I'll need to go to Gmail to keep my account active and to either periodically delete emails in Gmail or set up a filter. I just don't want to get a bunch of unnecessary emails in Gmail.

Easy Switch

For those of you who used the new Easy Switch feature, how do you feel about it a month out? Likes, dislikes?

I know you have to continue to delete on Gmail otherwise all the emails just build up. How are you all handling that?

Sorting of custom domains

How do you all sort your domains? Business, personal, random signups, newsletter, etc. I will be forwarding the emails where appropriate. I will be using Simple Login to house the domains and then will forward to my particular email such as Proton, Fastmail, etc.

I have a couple of custom domains and I'm thinking about getting another. I'm just wondering how some of you sort and why.

Refund

u/SecriaUpdates

I would like to make sure I'm correct on something based on your terms.

Under no circumstances you offer a refund, correct? I think I read accidentally, but that's a bit out there.

Examples

If I purchase a monthly or annual subscription and within a few days I find it doesn't work for me, no refund?

If I purchase the lifetime plan in full or opt to do the installment plan, no refund if I find it doesn't work for me the way I'm intending.

I'm asking because it doesn't appear you offer a trial for your paid plans but only offer the free plan that is lacking some of the features.

If I'm correct, this is a bit concerning. Almost all companies offer some type of guarantee. You are a relatively new company so I can maybe understand why you don't but investing money into a product that doesn't work isn't good for the consumer either.

I'm all about startup companies but $699 is a but steep when stepping into the unknown. I'm not one that has known about your service for a while so this would be jumping in blind for me to a degree.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

Thank you Drime!

u/Empty_Win_297 - Tibalt, I know times have been rough lately, but I want to thank you all for everything you have been doing. I'm looking forward to all that is coming. I especially love the updates you have been giving on this sub.

To everyone else - I have seen several posts about adding additional storage and some of you all saying it's taking days to get it added. I actually purchased 6TB last night to add to my storage. I sent an email about my storage and went in today to check to see it was there because I hadn't received a reply that it had been added. To my surprise, the additional storage was there.

I'm not sure if this mattered or helped, but when I sent the email, I forwarded a copy of the receipt of purchase from the account associated with my Drime account along with a quick message that I would like to add the additional storage. I figured this would save them some time from looking to confirm the purchase and having the correct email address.

Hope this helps you all.

PSA for Lifetime plans & SC

This is to warn anyone planning to buy a lifetime subscription from Stacksocial to NOT do it! I repeat, DON'T PURCHASE!!!

An email was sent to existing users they are doing away with the lifetime plans. It appears only 5TB will be transferable and more than that, who knows? It sounds like if you have more, you will have to pay a monthly/annual subscription and will lose anything over 5TB. It's honestly not very clear.

As an early user, this is very disappointing. I understand not allowing new signups, but they are taking away what they promised early users. They are in essence taking away our lifetime access by not honoring what we purchased. It's even worse it's still been available on SC and those poor people aren't even aware.

Such a shame!

In contact with Google Workspace

I still have about 4 months left on my Google Workspace contract. I started with a great promo, but had to commit to a year. Since that time, I have Visionary that will suit my needs. I also have a custom domain on my Google account.

I know that if I cancel my contract early, I still owe what is left. If anyone has done this, will they charge my CC on file immediately or bill me?

Pros/cons to move while still in contact versus waiting until the end of the contract?

A sweet feature

Ok Lumo...I see you and see what you are doing!

To add context, I have Lumo+ and I added some info about myself to include I'm learning Spanish. I asked a question and Lumo answered nicely and then proceeded to reply that since I'm learning Spanish, it might be useful to show me a new word I may not know. It was definitely an uncommon word and was much appreciated. A quick language learning lesson while asking a question...NICE!

Which is your go to or wish you hadn't purchased and why?

I have a few cloud storage accounts that I've had for at least 6 months. After using each of them, primarily on my phone either via app or web on my phone, I'm starting to find out I prefer some over others. This is due to development that has occurred, speed, ease of use, features, cost, storage amount, etc.

The main ones I'm referring to are Drime, Koofr, Filen, pCloud, Felicloud and Folder Fort. I have others but these are the ones up for discussion.

My fav at the top of this list is definitely becoming Drime. The one thing it's lacking is WebDAV and the reason it's not at the top, but there are so many other features that I can overlook this because it's on the roadmap. The developer is very responsive and present on Reddit and I appreciate that.

I know some will probably bash me for this, but Filen is near the bottom of my list. This is due to my user case. They have a chat feature, but this only works if someone has Filen and I have yet to know someone who does. There is a note feature but it's hit or miss. In my mind, if it's not reliable, it's useless. There have been too many times there were issues with slowness and upload issues, which was apparently due to so many people signing up. For me, I'm just not overly impressed with it. Again, this is MY opinion. I really wish they would make the chat optional because I feel like it's a waste of space.

At the bottom of my list is Felicloud. While I like the features, the amount of times I have been unable to upload docs because there was a server update has been annoying and flat unreliable. The files eventually show up , but compared to the other services, it has just been bad.

So, if you have any or all of these, what are your favs and which ones do you regret dealing with and why?

Catch-all with domain in SL

For anyone that uses SL and catch-all, have you noticed on the fly catch-all doesn't appear to be working with a custom domain?

I signed up on a website and used my domain with the name of the business name @mydomain like normal expecting to receive a free ebook. I waited about an hour and nothing. I tried using another catchall and nothing again.

This is very unusual behavior.

I was a former user. I purchased a few months ago and quickly realized the experience wasn't going to work for me, especially the Android app.

Fast forward to a few days ago. I received an email stating many changes were recently performed to enhance and improve the user experience and to see if I wanted to come back along with a nice discount.

Can anyone confirm how the experience has been for the past few weeks, primarily if you have the Android app, because that's what I will be using the most? If that hasn't improved at all, then it's probably pointless for me to try again. Any other feedback is welcome. I don't really use my computer much so I'm really focused on the Android app and web interface.
