Another quality job

By Queen Mary, on Hopkins at Albertus.

It must be the new way to pave.

edit: out for a walk in this area, the amusing thing is that the adjacent streets all have almost a spider web of rubberized sealer. Meanwhile, the underlying road bed is probably degrading because there are some pretty significant gaps where they tried to seal with whatever that compound is.

Using Fibetv with another internet provider's modem

Bell's "loyalty" department isn't price matching what is in market and I have a backup Internet at home (Cogeco) that I have kept, $46/mo. Bell is offering $70/mo on 500 Mbps or $50 if I do autopay (which I refuse to do because I don't trust them, due to sneaky rate increases). My question is can you use Bell Fibetv with Cogeco Internet, even though Bell Fibe usually relies on their modem?

Piles of leaves already?

Out for a walk in the West end last night and shocked to see piles of leaves in places already. Even in the gutter, yet no real change in tree colour. Noticing leaves on the lawns.a little early. Anyone else?

Saw this at an antique mall in Woodstock

Saw this the last time at an antique mall in Woodstock and thought it was curious. Saw it again there today and it occurred to me: I think this is from Peterborough. Sure enough, it is the north end. Amundsen and Montcalm intersect. Didn't buy it though. Nowhere to put it.

Question about the mural at The Bridge

There's a mural on the side of The Bridge drop-in centre at Bethune and Brock.

I always wondered who this is supposed to be.

My guesses so far:

  1. Jesus trying to play craps in the street.

  2. Barry Gibb in his younger days trying to call a cat over.

  3. Or maybe Barry Gibb asking for spare change because he lost to Jesus playing craps on the street.

I don't know.

Who is he?

Have you ever unblocked people you didn't particularly like? How did it turn out?

And if so, how did it work out? Most of the people I have blocked are mainly elitist assholes from high school and an assortment of douches and douchettes and I'm hoping that maybe they've grown up some. What about you?

Banh mi sandwiches

Been jonesin' for a banh mi sandwich. Last decent one I had was in Montreal at Ste-Catherine and St-Laurent. Had one at Madoi before the pandemic but unsure. Any recommendations?

Lots of police at One City

Anyone know what's happening at One City? Lots of cops. Drove by but not sure if they're having people move off of city property (saw a tent last night).

Some air quality samples

Decided to bring out my air quality monitor and take it to Yorkdale. Check it out. Air quality is way worse in the indoor parking. Indoors in the mall is decent. Outside? Readings are actually even better.

Radio stations!

It seems that a weird consequence of all this smoke in the atmosphere is that Toronto radio stations are coming in clear. Even UofT's radio station at 89.5 was coming in clear in the car, listening to The Clash lol. Checked using manual dialing and was getting them all. Even a preset in my car for CBC Kingston 107.5, which usually fades out by Belleville, was very clear. So enjoy this atmospheric anomaly! I even get.Ottawa on some days when the conditions are right (Jump 106.9).

Completed CS50X

I had a lot of fun with the final project. I should point out that you may need to rehearse or do dry runs of your video presentation because it is tough to keep it under 3 minutes. Keep your presentation on point. And documentation in the readme.md is very important. Make sure you take the time to set your project apart from other assignments, and make that file as complete as possible. Remember that other people will be looking at your project, and this file helps to explain how to use it, and what purpose your project files serves. Good luck.

Brooklin Spring Fair?

Hey, wondering if the Brooklin Spring Fair is actually worth it? $20 to get in and $10 to park. How is parking in the area or is this just going to be as bad as trying to find a spot at the mall lol? Thanks!

Know of any companies that need this hat

Had to share this. Saw this hat at an store in Toronto. I can think of some transport companies that should get this hat, for real.

Edit: why does the AI filter think I'm selling lol. I'm not. It's a picture.

Art exhibit outside A-One Clothing downtown

From Peterborough, frequent visitor. Really like the inspirational art outside the boarded up A-One Clothing store downtown. A few of the dozens. Really fun! More cities should do this. Artist is Ani Castillo. The works are all over the boards, so it is really a surprise to see downtown.
