What is this spinning mirror contraption?

Noticed this on top of a local Starbucks. It has three mirrors that are almost shaped like bowls and spin in a counterclockwise direction. I'm not sure if it is powered by the wind or a motor. Does anyone know what it is and what its for?

Would you take this?

I mean this is a unicorn based on the fact that I don't think I've seen a sub-$2 offer ever. I've been doing this long enough to remember when there was a $6 minimum in my market. Clearly those times have past. You'd need to complete 11 of these in an hour to make minimum wage.

What thoughtful feature would you love to see in more cars?

I've had two cars that incorporated such simple, clever features that it surprises me every other car doesn't include them. The first is on my VW GTI. When the front wipers are set to auto or on and you shift into reverse, it runs the rear wiper once to clear your view for backing up!

The other is on BMW (and maybe Mini). When you shift into reverse it rotates the sideview mirror down so you can see the curb when parallel parking.

Simple, clever and useful. I definitely appreciate the thought that went into it. Are there little details you've discovered that make your car more usable?

Considered taking this just out of curiosity

I've delivered from this restaurant plenty of times. They are in a single, standalone building. So was someone in the restaurant ordering GH from their table? In the parking lot? Probably not, I'm guessing they just mixed up the delivery address for the restaurant address. Still might have taken it if the orders were usually ready when I get there, but there's typically a wait.

Has anyone else gotten something like this where the address for pickup was the same as dropoff?

Missed Opportunity

I'm surprised they didn't make Fringe action figures. I did find the 1:6 scale Peter, Olivia, and Walter but those are way expensive ($100+/apiece) and more like dolls.

There were such opportunities for for cool characters and accessories! They could have had playsets for Fringe Division? Massive Dynsmic. and Walter's Lab... William Bell, Broyles, Nina Sharp, Charlie, Lincoln Lee, even that Taxi driver who helps Olivia escape..

Oh yeah, and alternate universe versions of all of them.

How do you determine who made the casting?

I recently bought a Kaido House x MiniGT BMW M3 E30. When I was shopping I came across a ton of different diecast companies offering their 1/64 versions. Here's a quick list:

HW

MBX

Maisto

Tarmac Works

Street Weapon

Inno64

Pandem

Mortal

DCM

LTO

Almost Real

CM Models

CR Scalemini

Demon King

Nice Auto

What I'm curious about is how many different castings are used and which castings by which company? In the case of the Kaido House x MiniGT version, the details and livery are done by KH while production is by MiniGT. Is that casting unique to MiniGT? Is there a way to track this?

Kaido House V2 BMW E30 M3

Just got my second MiniGT after starting my collection with the Civic R in Aegean Blue. That car has some of the deepest, most complex, and high quality paint of any diecast I've owned. So when I saw the deep purple hue on this BMW e30 I had to take the plunge, despite the steep price. Thankfully I was not disappointed. The details are stellar, from the fat tires to the M power engine. If I had any issues with the Civic it was that there were no opening parts. This BMW fixes that with a very cool, front-hinged hood. Another excellent diecast from MiniGT. Hopefully these pics do it justice!

Sesson 2, Episode 11 "Unearthed"

When this episode aired how crazy did you go when a character who is very much dead shows back up?? And no one seems the least bit surprised or interested?

I know now about it being an episode out of order but it feels like they should have fixed this and put it back in the first season instead of leaving it where it aired in the second.

When the dogs are outside...

Miss Napoleon lives in a house with two 50 pound English Shepards. Being a tux she's startled by everything, from someone putting their hand out to pet her (despite her cries to "please pet me!'), to how high she just jumped. She has her own room upstairs where the dogs are not allowed. When the dogs go out for any reason, however, she runs down the stairs and gets on their dog bed. She rolls around, takes a bath, and just acts like the silly tux she is. When she hears the backdoor open she flees back up the stairs to the safety of her room. While the dogs are none the wiser.. 😂🤣😂

Added a new Build City Set to my Tomica collection!

Just picked up a slightly used edition of the "Let's Make a Town!" Build City set to add to the Eneos gas station set I already had. Sadly, my Eneos gas station is not the same as the Build City version that Tomica produced after mine was discontinued. So they aren't exactly interchangeable (even the stop signs fit in different sized circular holes). Regardless, I'm pleased to have a new environment for my Tomica diecasts. The cars:

Subaru BRZ no. 6

Nissan Fairlady Z 40th Anniversary No. 40

Mitsubishi Mirage No. 23

Mazda Atenza No. 62

Nissan Leaf No. 93

Saab 900 Turbo Silver (Global64)

Got my second Tarmac Works of one of my favorites, the 900 Turbo by Saab. They also produce a convertible version but this is so definitively Saab that I choose this one.

What is the Best Wheel Size?

I've been wondering as the comments on posts for 17s are almost universally positive. Anyone out there think that going with 19s is the better upgrade? Personally, my GTI came to me used with aftermarket 18s. Certainly some owners prefer the standard 18s?

Previously I owned a 370Z and it seemed the consensus was to upgrade from the "base" 18s to more performance-oriented 19s (and 20s). I'm assuming that's due to the GTI being a more do everything car, while the Nissan is much more track focused. But it's hard to know for sure. What do you think best fits the GTI?

Which sets would you need to complete this?

I was checking out the 7-11 set when I came across this picture of a bunch of sets connected. I recognize the Eneos gas station and (I think) the sushi set. Can you identify any others?

Civic Type R Aegean Blue 1/64

This is an older version of the type r Aegean Blue that has the black wheels rimmed in red, the current Aegean Blue Modulo Edition features white rims. This paint on this model is so deep that it is hard to capture ust how impressive it is in photos! Mini GT did an incredible job with the details, just check out (non functional) intake vents front and back, along with the trio of exhaust pipes poking out under the rear bumper. It's definitely not inexpensive for a 1/64 diecsst but Mini GT makes this worthwhile. Hope you like it!
