The sunvision eve RLCD monitor is soooo soft on the eyes!

Hello everyone I wanted to share that the sunvision eve monitor is very soft on the eyes. The colors are washed out so its nothing vibrant that pierces your eyes. I use it with the front light off during the day next to a window and at night sometimes I use it with the front light which sadly is very blue but nothing that triggers me like a normal monitor would. This monitor uses a true 8 bit panel but I noticed on linux it wants to run at 12bit color but luckily its easy to set linux to max bpc 8.

In the photos its of it with front light on at 65% brightness and then with it completely off. You can get more clarity if you want by adjusting monitor settings and can even make it brighter by increasing contrast too.

I have this connected to my 7950x/rx6600 PC running cachyos (arch linux)

MacOS toolbar app for the Modos Dev Kit (Glider)

Hey everyone I made a MacOS tool to control your 13.3" modos dev kit. It requires using my patched FW.

You can finally control refresh modes and such without using the device OSD/Buttons

Flashing FW and using the tool is at your own risk. I'm not liable if anything goes wrong.

Best ls7 plug wires?

I have accel ceramics now but seem to have a misfire according to my tuner. The car wants to fall on its face at low speeds like stop and go. It's cammed with long tubes btw.

Looking to replace those for something more reliable. I was looking at Taylor wires but see they're made in China now.. does that matter? I see moros ultra 40 wires which are made in the US. I'm thinking between those 2 or just getting gm performance wires. Would love to hear thoughts and other suggestions.

Upgraded m4 Mac mini to 2tb. Can I remove it to temporarily put the old 256gb in to wipe? Then back to 2tb or does it need a restore again in that situation?

FRC Behavior: 6‑bit vs 8‑bit signal on a 6+2 FRC Panel

I tested a 6+2 FRC monitor (Sunvision 32" RLCD) using a 6‑bit‑forcing EDID emulator and compared behavior with and without it.

With 6‑bit EDID emulator:
Windows reports 6‑bit color depth. If I use ditherig to disable all dithering, I see clear banding in gradients. If I enable spatial dithering using ditherig, the banding disappears.

This is with the emulator forcing 6‑bit and dithering disabled (visible banding):

https://preview.redd.it/o4mvvzuvkoah1.jpg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2a0b471ab9119e725765dc4a5f525da629f4f47

I’m assuming this is roughly what a “true” 6‑bit signal should look like — for those familiar with native 6‑bit panels, does this level of banding seem appropriate, or would you expect more severe banding than in this photo?

Without EDID emulator:
Windows reports 8‑bit color depth. Even with all dithering disabled using ditherig, there is no banding. Enabling spatial dithering on top of that does not change the visible result; gradients remain smooth.

https://preview.redd.it/qjai4a41loah1.jpg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b328a7865603f004c4ca60ccd61f987706336d8

This is without the EDID emulator (default 8‑bit, dithering off, no banding):

From this, it looks like:

  • When the link is forced to 6‑bit, the monitor behaves more like a native 6‑bit path and appears to reduce or disable its internal FRC.
  • When the link is 8‑bit, the monitor keeps its FRC active, so even with GPU‑side dithering disabled, the panel’s own temporal processing still smooths out gradients.

So in this setup, a 6‑bit link seems to tell the monitor to back off its FRC, whereas an 8‑bit link keeps FRC engaged. Not sure if all monitors behave this way, but this is what I observed on the Sunvision 32" RLCD. Would be interested to hear if others have seen similar or different behavior on their displays.

The program used "Ditherig" can be found here: https://kawamoto.no-ip.org/henteko/myapp.html#ditherig

6-Bit forcing EDID can be found here: https://drive.proton.me/urls/813M4R3WS4#FPcBbRXqyK9q
Technically you can modify the EDID to add more resolutions and refresh rates.

EDID hdmi emulator I used: https://amzn.to/4vL0Hjw
(New in stock link): https://amzn.to/4xXcRHk
The one I ordered from the first link has write capabilities enabled so I was able to write the EDID above onto it directly.

Incompetent USPS at it again.

What is wrong with USPS? I keep having this issue where packages magically go missing and then instantly get found when I open a mail search.

Just wanted to share that solcomputer will be stocking the new Hannspree Lumo tablet and Hybri monitor in the US soon!

I noticed solcomputer.com just started a presale for the new Hannspree Lumo and hybri for US customers. Glad to see more options made available in the US.

Why is usps consistently incompetent?

I keep having ground advantage packages go over7-10 days without tracking updates but always when I open a mail search it gets instantly found and marked out for delivery within a couple days. Has anyone else experienced this? its extremely frustrating having to keep a close eye on tracking #s to make sure USPS is doing their job.

Non wifi/Bluetooth fingerprint front door lock?

I'm looking for something that doesn't have WiFi/bt or the ability to disable it. I saw the 365 keypad lock which is nice but curious if there's any with a fingerprint sensor?
