Upgraded my workstation this week in the office.

Picked up my first nice non-razer mechanical keyboard. Keychron K8 HE TKL with a complimenting Keychron M7 mouse.

Normally I go click switches but didn't want to be a menace. Enjoying the linear a lot!

Hybrid Style Into Level Match?

After shooting Steel Challenge this weekend, a friend and I got to talking about the logistics of a match combining elements of USPSA and Steel Challenge. Our club has good turnouts for both but steel is down currently.

We thought it might be nice to put something together with like 3 Steel Challenge stages, and 3 uspsa style stages. The idea is to bill it as an "intro to competition shooting" style of event to expose people to 2 disciplines in one day and just have fun.

Obviously how scoring would work is something to consider, but I am very curious about your thoughts at large.

We want to have a really solid game plan put together prior to talking to club officers.

Any suggestions or feedback would be very welcome!

Time for a new vet?

Yesterday while walking around my house I found (with my foot) my pup had lost a tooth. Not broken off, came out clean root in tact. He’s 10, normal weight and still pretty active. There’s been no change to his diet or activity level.

After gathering myself I called my vet for some direction on what they wanted to do. I was met with a “you can bring him in if you want, I don’t know what the doctor will want to do”. After several variations of that, I resolved to hold off for a day or so to figure out something of a plan. The issue is, due to some bad experiences when he was a puppy, he doesn’t vibe with the vet( loves the office girls just not the Dr) and doesn’t let anyone, myself included look in his mouth.

So not matter what, he will need sedated. I expressed some concern due to him being 10 years old, I don’t know. He’s my first dog of my own so it’s all learning through each stage of life. I was not reassured it would be safe, or told it would be risky just hit with an “I don’t know it’s up to you”.

After researching last night and this morning, I understand the following, most likely this is periodontal disease, he needs a dental exam, and a tooth cleaning at a minimum as well as some more things around the house from me. Dental chews are a regular already as well as various toys he plays with that help out.

What do you all think, find a different vet or go where he’s always gone?

My DIY $50 lawn striping Kit

Region: Ohio
Kit: untested
Experience: solid
Mower: John Deere z355e
Performance: TBD

To make a long story short, I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg or drill holes in my mower deck. Hitch mount options weren’t a great idea either due to the terrain of property I’m mowing.

So tonight I went to Lowe’s, bought a 4ft piece of half inch aluminum bar stock, and a 24inch push broom, and some 1/4 20 nuts and bolts. Total out the door: $51.30.

I used the aluminum bar stock to make my own beefy L Brackets to mount on some existing unoccupied holes I found.

When I mow tomorrow I will get to test this baby out and see how she does I’m pretty excited. The kit from JD is like $130 and I can’t find it locally.

So now I have plenty of left over aluminum, and a spare broom handle for something and hopefully some nice contrasty stripes in the yard.

Do you actually get value from your fold?

I’m seriously considering switching back to pixel with my next upgrade cycle and the folds have caught my eye since day one.

I’m not sure I would actually get much value from the extra screen real estate especially when you compare “cell phone tasks” to “laptop tasks”. Honestly my phone is primarily used to make calls, play games and doomscroll.

The extra cost, and introduced points of failure scare me a bit, and I don’t know there is much perceived value in the bigger, more complicated device to me.

For those of you using the phone day in and out, do you feel it is worth the extra cost, and how are you “getting your money’s worth”?
